Brother Donnell Singleton, also known as Brother D the People’s Poet, is a Roxbury native and Boston Latin Academy graduate, deeply committed to service, education, and entrepreneurship. A multi-talented artist, Brother Donnell is a published author of On My Knees, The Journey Begins, a compilation of poetry and short stories. He is also an accomplished playwright, having written What Happened to Our Renaissance and Jesus Matters. As a recording artist, his works include Voices of My Soul and The Brother D Experience.
After serving in the U.S. Army to fund his college education, Brother Donnell earned a full scholarship to Clark Atlanta University. His career spans roles as an educator, salesman, and program director, but his entrepreneurial spirit shines through the founding of Food For The Soul, a halal soul food restaurant in Grove Hall, which provided over 80,000 meals during the pandemic. As Executive Director of Origin Nile Publishing, he amplifies young voices by publishing children’s books written by children.

A devoted family man, poet, and community advocate, Brother Donnell continues to impact his community through initiatives like Poetry in the Park, recognized for its cultural significance. Guided by his faith, he remains relentless in his pursuit of excellence and service.
