State Parque are just some friends who met at autumn house parties, hung out at the same bar, and like reminding you not to be so hard on yourself. Our tunes are a high-energy mix of indie, surf, jazz, and pop rock meant to get crowds dancing and shouting along to the chorus.
After meeting at Somerville Porchfest 2023, drummer Sam Mardini and singer Rory Lyon vowed to return the next year at the head of a band. Combining Sam’s love for indie rock grooves with Rory’s dream pop flair, the duo tapped guitarist and synth extraordinaire Jeff Liesch, an expert in need of his next act. Guitarist Matt Fenaroli and bassist Rob Turner were found from spontaneously breaking into classic rock jams in a back alley, and lightenup was born.
Together, lightenup’s indie rock core is woven with guitar-driven grooves, shimmering synth textures, punchy rhythms, and emotional vocals. You’re sure to dance, you might kiss your neighbor, you might cry, and you’ll absolutely have a good time.
