Ink From Honey will present six incarcerated poets. We are a group of Underclass Poets. We will paint the night with luminary words. The illustration of our struggles will draw the audience into our plight, and through education, our evolution will shine new light.
The poets:
Amos Don–My name is Amos Don. Husband to Joanna Don. I am currently serving a life sentence, wrongfully convicted. Presently, I am enrolled in Emerson College. I am also a published poet, a children’s book author, and involved in civic engagement through DonofCreation/Ink from Honey LLC.
Elijah Charles–My name is Elijah Charles, culturally known as “Just-I-Cee Allah.” I am adherent of the Nation of God and Earth, where I activate supreme intelligence in good orderly direction— creating divine property around my life. I am currently housed at MCI-Norfolk, serving a 13-15 year sentence for manslaughter. I am actively involved in African American Coalition Committee (A.A.C.C.) as board member of the Defense Department, Edu-tainment Department; also, a prospect in Second Thoughts Program striving to be a mentor for young adults. Ultimately, I will become an author of a poem book, “The Jewel That Lit The Barren Attic” as my stepping stone upon my release from prison.
Peter Bin–My name is Peter Bin. I am a Brown Asian Cambodian from Lynn, Ma. I am currently enrolled in E.P.I., and expected to receive my Bachelor’s in the Summer of 2025. I am an advocate for the AAPI Community. And I believe our voices should always be amplified, no matter the conditions we are in. Artem Vaskanyan–Hello, My name is Artem Vaskanyan. I am an Armenian refugee from Azerbaijan. During the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan my family and I, at age six, migrated to the Russian parts of the former Soviet Union and years later in 1993 we migrated to the United States. At age twenty in the year 2000 I was arrested and imprisoned. During my years of incarceration my life set me on the path of spiritual and intellectual growth. Because of my drive to persevere I was able to graduate from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts in 2020, become an activist, a writer & Perot and a published author of three books.Michael Barros–My name is Michael Barros. Thirty-nine years old from Brockton, MA.I was raised by a single parent, my mother. My parents migrated to America from West Africa’s island called Cabo Verde in search for a better life “The American Dream.”
Oasis Prichett–My name is Oasis. I’m a thirty-four-year-old young African American man, unfortunately, who is incarcerated. I was once lost to a perpetual cycle of misguidance and ideologies that plagued our urban youth. I have broken that cycle. Since then, I have also found my purpose, which is to spread love, unity, and education to the unloved and uneducated.
