Other Brother Darryl, 2024 Boston Music Award Country Artist of the Year, are a seven piece, alt-country supergroup. Their debut album, Roll Shine Roll, is set for release on February 28, 2025. It is dedicated to fallen bandmate and close friend Dave Mirabella, who passed away suddenly in April 2022. The family of players includes a list of veteran singer-songwriters and prominent fixtures from Boston. The band of Brothers are; Dan Nicklin, Nate Leavitt, Dan Cederholm, Chad Raleigh, Derek Feeney, Dave Lieb and Jim Collins.
First coming together over a love of big folk harmonies, the cosmic canyon rock sound of CSNY, The Jayhawks and Wilco, and the television series Newhart, the seeds of Other Brother Darryl were first conceptualized back in 2012 at the defunct Somerville, MA rock club Radio, where each member would perform frequently with their respective projects. An endless string of conversations, local Boston rock shows, and beers would line the next several years, and in 2019, Other Brother Darryl would make good on a promise to each other to bring their collective creative vision to life and write and record the album they were always meant to.
In November 2022, the band released their debut single, “Until I Do.” Hump Day News wrote, “Other Brother Daryl picks up the thread of new Americana that bands like Wilco have returned to respectability in the new millennium.” Second single “Drive” arrived a year later, followed by February 2024’s “Gypsy Girl.” In May of 2024, the Brothers were finalists in the Rock and Roll Rumble. A mini-documentary about the origins of the band was released in June of that year. August would see the group release their fourth single, “Sometimes.” If It’s Too Loud declared “Other Brother Darryl have made one of the most powerful and compelling tracks to come out of the Boston scene in a long time.” The Brothers would release “The Ballad of Joni & Graham” in the Fall of ‘24. Inspired by the storied relationship between Joni Mitchell and Graham Nash, the Boston Herald claimed it a “must for your Autumn playlist.”
