Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam featuring Shea Butter
As a first-generation American with strong Haitian roots, Lynn Phanor aims to inspire all people of the true beauty of life through her poetry. From then until now, God has enabled her to overcome the hardships of a single-parent home, poverty, racism, and sexism, and she hopes her life will be a living testimony to those in need of encouragement. Commonly referred to as “Shea Butter”, Lynn Phanor first coined the nickname through a research project on economic development through the non-traditional trade of Shea trees. Shea Butter has been blessed with many opportunities to showcase her talents over the past 20-plus years. She served as the editor-in-chief of “VOICES” a literary magazine at Bentley University. Her lyrics have been laced with the sounds of world-renowned artists such as Wyclef Jean, Miriam Makeba, The Jeff Robinson Trio, and various artists from all around the world including Ghana, South Africa, London, and Haiti. She has exhibited her pieces at venues such as the Wang Center, Strand Theatre, Paradise Lounge, The Hen House, and the Lizard’s Lounge of Massachusetts. The NUYORICAN Poets Cafe in Harlem, New York. The Wine Up, Red 28, Apostrophes Lounge, and the Boom festival and Kwanzaa celebration of North Carolina. Besides poetry, she delights in adding value to others through her business Chez La Belle, LLC, and teaching students in the public schools of America. Recently she opened a Kindergarten in Haiti and looks forward to sharing her passion, thoughts, and words with you
