With roots in Cameroon and Ghana, kwe is a poet, singer-songwriter, producer and musician who began writing lyrics in French at the age of 16 while in school in Paris. His lyrical skill on the mic earned him the nickname of “Bigfoot” among his friends and music associates. After paying his dues on the spoken word open mic scene in Boston, he began recording his poems and songs with various bands and music producers. kwe has played extensively in the United States performing his “Afro Roots Hop” style, an eclectic blend of dub poetry and roots man chanting. His first book of poetry Dirges of Becoming was published independently by Afro Roots Hop Press. He is currently working on his second print title -Touch of Madness – alongside a documentary film on the making of his devotional roots album “Bright Side” dropped recently on his Music Is Healing imprint.
