see night is the indie-rock project of L.A.-based singer-songwriter Linda Sao (with drummer Cory Aboud, guitarist Pat Andrews, and bassist AJ Marquez as a 4-piece) that has a record put out by Bob Nastanovich (Pavement, Silver Jews), the “Eloquence” 7-inch on his Brokers Tip Records. Due to a dynamic show that alternates between hard-driving and dreamy, sn has been compared to Mazzy Star-meets-Godspeed You! Black Emperor and has opened for Bonnie Prince Billy, Matthew Logan Vasquez (Delta Spirit), Widowspeak, The Pack A.D., John Vanderslice, Sunwatchers, David Dondero, Jenn Champion, Rogue Wave, and more. Cathartic songs delivered with haunting vocals, swelling drums, and atmospheric guitars straddle somewhere between ‘90s indie rock and woozy shoegaze.

Icarus Phoenix is an indie-rock band from Baltimore, MD led by Drew Danburry (gtr/vox) with Eli Sims (drums), Leena Rhodes (gtr/vox/synth) and Brendan Russell (bass). Having built a cult following after being included on Stereogum’s albums of note for their “Son” EP as well as their DIY tour to Japan/USA in 2024 they are preparing to release their fourth studio album in August 2024. Recording it in Provo, Utah at June Audio (Nov 2022) with producer Jed Jones (Post Malone, The Killers) and recruiting the help of longtime friends Jake Bellows (Neva Dinova), Justin Pacheco, Andrew Young (Gingers Palace) to help track 40 songs in 3 days. Written by Drew Danburry in 2021-2022 after divorcing his wife of 13 years and leaving his 8 year old son with her to move across the country amidst a housing crisis.

Emerging from the New England post-grunge, alternative rock scene in 1997, The Sheila Divine captivated audiences with a raw intensity reminiscent of teenage heartbreak. The band, initially formed by Aaron Perrino (guitar, vocals), Shawn Sears (drums), and Jim Gilbert (bass), quickly made their mark with their powerful sound and emotive performances. Aaron Perrino, the heart and soul of The Sheila Divine, has been writing songs since he was 16. His journey through various bands such as Dear Leader, No Hope No Harm, and Aaron & the Lord has been marked by relentless creativity and a steadfast commitment to his art. No matter the challenges, music has remained his true north, guiding him through life’s tumultuous moments. Perrino’s signature style, often described as “whisper to a scream,” showcases his ability to balance delicate melodies with intense, almost primal outbursts. His voice, filled with both vulnerability and ferocity, has become a defining element of The Sheila Divine’s sound. The band’s origins trace back to the University of New York at Oneonta, where Perrino and his original bandmates formed The Waverlys. Their reconnection in Boston’s music scene led to the birth of The Sheila Divine. The band quickly garnered attention, signing with Cherry Disc Records and releasing an EP in 1998. By 1999, they were signed by Roadrunner Records, releasing their debut album, New Parade. Over the years, The Sheila Divine has seen various lineup changes but has always remained centered around Perrino’s artistic vision. Subsequent releases, including Where Have My Countrymen Gone (2001), Secret Society EP (2002), The Things That Once Were (2012), The Morbs (2015), and The Beginning of the End Is Where We’ll Start Again (2019), continued to push the boundaries of their sound while staying true to their roots. Perrino envisions the future of The Sheila Divine as a dynamic, collaborative project akin to Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, with different eras and lineups continually pushing the band to new heights. Excitement buzzes around the upcoming release of The Sheila Divine’s new concept album, I Am the Darkness. We Are the Light., set to drop on Halloween 2024. The album promises to be a profound exploration of contrasts, reflecting the band’s journey through light and darkness. The first single, “I Know There Is Happiness,” is already out, with the second single, “Satan Got My Soul,” premiering on August 21st. Aaron Perrino’s unwavering passion and dedication to his craft ensure that The Sheila Divine’s legacy will continue to grow, inspiring new generations of listeners.
