Boston based band SHIBUI led by composer, guitarist and bass player Tim Doherty presents its second album QUINT, the premiere on Ronin Rhythm Records with its connected community. The album contains five elaborated minimal groove compositions by Doherty, conceptually titled with numbers. This indicates the composer’s clear vision and the band’s focused understanding of this contemporary groove chamber music.

A decade of touring has taken Courtney to perform all over North America, Europe, and her native country, Japan. After training as a classical pianist in her youth, Courtney graduated from Berklee College of Music as a vocalist with a dual degree in Classical Composition and Contemporary Writing & Production. A Rhode Islander since 2015, Courtney also works as a pianist/keyboardist and music director for Trinity Rep, Brown University, Theater by the Sea, Wilbury Group, University of Rhode Island, and others. Splitting her time between touring, composing, teaching, and more, her interests beyond music include plants, gardening, mystery novels, home improvement, photography, drawing, meditation, yoga, cooking, fermentation… a list that is always growing!
Pseudospace is the solo project of Massachusetts-based multi-instrumentalist Jake Lester. Coming from a deeply personal place, Jake’s music is driven entirely by concept and narrative and the idea that no genre is off-limits.
Though Jake’s live performances are currently centered around his guitar, voice and clarinet, he comes from a classical background, having performed countless wind band concerts across Massachusetts, Vermont and even Japan. He studied music education and composition at The University of Vermont and currently teaches elementary school music. Learning to front his own project with vocals and guitar was not a natural process for Jake, but he now considers it his most authentic form of music-making and is deeply appreciative of anyone who listens.
