Le Prestige is an instrumental and improvisational music group based in Somerville and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Their original songs are primarily influenced by the spirit of 60’s soul jazz and the big beats and loops of 90’s hip-hop and electronica. Taking an organic and low-tech approach to these sounds, the tunes feature horn-driven melodies and expressive soloing over funk, jazz, reggae and disco grooves.
The Smack Dabs specialize in good-time Swing Blues music from the 1930s, featuring the songs of Tampa Red, Big Bill Broonzy, The Harlem Hamfats, and many others. This delightful and timeless genre features a rich variety of musical styles, ranging from mournful blues to joyful celebrations, setting the stage for incredible solo and group improvisations and delighting listening audiences and dancers alike.
