SUMMARY:Ward Hayden & The Outliers-"Little By Little" Release w/Brady Dallas Jones
DESCRIPTION:Ward Hayden & The Outliers celebrate their release “Little By Little” a tribute to Bruce Springsteen at the Lizard w/Brady Dallas Jones!\n\n\n$25 adv/$32 door \nDoors at 7 \nThis album has been two years in the making and was born with the idea of balancing the scale. Following one of Massachusetts most notable Country artists directing their audience NOT to listen to Bruce Springsteen….Ward Hayden & the Outliers decided the best way to offset that negativity was to do something positive and delve into Springsteen’s epic catalog. Taking that journey with all its nostalgia\, appreciation\, and creativity is unequivocally positive. This album plays like a thank you note to The Boss\, one that will resonate with Springsteen and Outliers fans alike. \nThis collection of songs was chosen from the soundtrack to many people’s lives who grew up in the 70s\, 80s\, & 90s. These are the songs that played while you hung out in your friend’s kitchen\, watched TV in your living room\, drove your car home from school\, or when you partied on the weekends. These songs earned their place in our lives\, they’ve been there for us\, they’ve been along for the ride. \nWard Hayden & the Outliers NEW album “Little by Little” has taken the songwriting of Bruce Springsteen\, channeled it through their country music filled hearts and minds\, resulting in something extraordinary and unique. It’s The Boss done Outliers-style. It’s the music that’s been our crutch to lean on\, our shoulder to cry on\, and the words that we sing out with joy at the top of our lungs. It’s the music that taught us to love music\, the music that makes us want to keep making more music\, and it’s meant to be shared. May 22nd & 23rd come celebrate the album release of “Little By Little” by Ward Hayden & The Outliers. \n \nWard Hayden & The Outliers \n\n\n“Brady Dallas Jones blends an introspective and musing lyrical style with the dramatic folk rock sound he was raised on to create a Boston-brewed mixture capable of bringing an audience to their knees\, whether it be in sadness or ecstasy.” – Arlo Matthews \nBrady Dallas Jones

It’s a sound that bridges the gap between Nashville and her native Rhode Island — a blend of old-school traditions and fresh perspectives\, fused together by a trailblazer who’s been writing songs since her teenage years. \nRaised in Providence\, Charlie Marie fell in love with country music at ten years old\, after a music teacher compared her voice to the timeless croon of Patsy Cline. She began riding horses at the same time\, and the two disciplines went hand-in-hand. While heading to a local horse farm every week\, a wide-eyed Charlie would listen to country songs in the car\, absorbing the sounds of 1990s hit-makers like Alan Jackson one minute and mid-century icons like Loretta Lynn the next.  \nCharlie Marie

SUMMARY:Lux Deluxe/Sun Parade
DESCRIPTION:Lux Deluxe and Sun Parade live at the Lizard Lounge May 17th at 9 pm!\n\n\n$15 adv/$20 door \nThe first thing you’ll notice about LuxDexlue is the singer\, Ned King. He might be high-kicking\, rolling on the floor\, or squeezed up alongside drummer Jake Edwards with his own set of sticks in hand. Bassist Jacob Rosazza and rhythm guitarist Jake Manzi lean into their mics as Ned does\, and 3-part Eagles-esque harmonies roll out. Then the energy shifts to stage left\, where lead guitarist Caleb Rosazza has started soloing\, and you know you’re in for a good night. \nLuxDeluxe began in a poster-plastered basement in Northampton\, Massachusetts in 2009. Three young cousins and two friends got together to play rock & roll\, surrounded by stacks of records that included NRBQ\, JJ Cale\, and Tom Petty. The band rapidly gained recognition for their high-octane shows that left audiences sweaty and earned them the opportunity to share stages with Deer Tick\, White Denim\, Reptar\, Lake Street Dive\, Rubblebucket\, J Mascis\, NRBQ\, and Big Al Anderson. \nAfter a decade of writing\, recording\, and touring\, a founding member of the band moved to LA to pursue film work. The pandemic closely followed. Like many bands during the events of 2020\, LuxDeluxe went through a quiet period\, during which they slowly built up a recording studio in an old warehouse building\, and amassed a hoard of vintage guitars\, keyboards\, and amps. As guitarist Caleb Rosazza built up his inventory of recording gear\, the rest of the band dug into honing their own skills\, playing with other Western Mass bands\, co-writing\, and recording for other projects. \nIn 2022\, the band re-convened to write and record over 100 songs\, working and re-working to find their sound and identity again. And when they found themselves on stage for 2 sold-out New Year’s shows with NRBQ in 2023\, something fell into place. \nTheir first new music in 7 years will be released in Fall 2024. This will be the band’s 6th release and 4th full-length album in the 15 years they have been together. The joy is still there. Evidence of time passing is\, too. These aren’t the songs of kids barely out of high school any more. These songs bind the past to the present: the music may have evolved\, but the heart and guts that make a LuxDeluxe record what it is shine through. \nLux Deluxe \n\n\nSun Parade is a psychedelic rock n roll band from Western MA and Brooklyn. Their music sounds like a rollercoaster ride through the golden age\, when playful harmonies\, memorable hooks\, and relentless grooves reigned supreme. \n \nThe band is songwriters Chris Marlon Jennings and Jeff Lewis\, in addition to Karl Helander (drums)\, Niko Lapinski (bass)\, and Eli Salus-Kleiner (keyboards) \n \nIn 2007 Chris Jennings and Jeff Lewis struck an instant connection at a party in Maine through their mutual love of The Beatles. The pair joined forces in Northampton Massachusetts in 2011 to support Chris’ debut release EP “The Sun Parade” which quickly led to their first collaborative LP release “Yossis” in 2012. Subsequently\, the band self-released the EP “Heart’s Out” in 2014\, “Shuggy Mtn Breakdown” in 2017 and “Treats for Terry” in 2021. Sun Parade is currently producing a new record with Ian Hersey which is set to be released. \nSun Parade has done direct support for Lake Street Dive\, Felice Brothers\, Brazilian Girls\, Dr. Dog\, Rogue Wave\, Martin Sexton\, Illiterate Light\, Big Thief and Grace Potter. \n“The guys can harmonize like the Beach Boys on acid … They sound like the psychedelic ’60s\, the indie ’80s\, and the electro-pop boom of the aughts. If you like\, well\, rock ’n’ roll\, you’ll like Sun Parade.” – Jed Gottlieb\, Boston Herald \n“Sun Parade have a time-tripping\, atmospheric sound of their own on songs like\, “Steal My Thunder\,” from the band’s 2018 album\, “Shuggy Mtn Breakdown\,” the band displays a ’70s musicality with vocals tiptoeing into the ’80s and an audio layer of mid-’90s grunge. On their new single\, the coming-of-age tale\, “Young Adult\,” Sun Paradedeploy Bowie-esque lyrics and harmonies reminiscent of The Turtles: “… hanging around in the outer space/ it’s looking up\, you’re in tip top shape/ You’re a young adult\, a big American baby/ You don’t like the things you don’t understand.” As an expression of youthful angst and a dig at American exceptionalism\, “Young Adult” is timeless. – Freddie Zandt / PureHoney Magazine \n \nSun Parase

SUMMARY:TrueVines/Adult Fiction Dual Release WSG Highway Hosiery
DESCRIPTION:TrueVines and Adult Fiction celebrate their debut album releases with special guests Highway Hosiery May 9 at the Lizard Lounge!\n\n\nTrueVines is a Boston-based band blending ’60s British influences with a raw American vibe. Fronted by legendary songwriter Dennis Brennan\, this powerhouse lineup features guitarist Andrew Stern\, bassist Jim Haggerty\, and drummer Chris Anzalone—all veterans of the local and national music scene. Originally a side project born during the pandemic\, TrueVines has evolved into Brennan’s primary creative outlet\, embracing a rougher\, high-energy sound steeped in garage rock and soul. \nTheir forthcoming six-song release captures the band’s unique chemistry: quick\, raunchy originals that channel the raw spirit of the ’60s\, soulful struts\, and even a nod to their rootsy side with a country ballad. With shout-along choruses\, swaggering guitars\, and an unapologetic sense of fun\, TrueVines proves that rock and roll is still very much alive. \nGuitarist Andrew Stern\, originally from Illinois\, honed his craft in Boston after stints in California and New York’s vibrant music scenes. He has worked across a range of styles with artists like Dennis Brennan\, Mark Erelli\, and Brian Carpenter and leads several projects\, including his adventurous trio\, AS3. Stern’s versatile and inventive guitar work is a cornerstone of TrueVines’ sound. \nBassist Jim Haggerty and drummer Chris Anzalone bring decades of experience as first-call studio musicians and live performers. Known for their dynamic and impeccable musicianship\, they form the backbone of TrueVines\, driving its raw and electric energy. \nDescribed by Mod Magazine as “still in the attic or the garage\, and loving every second of it\,” TrueVines captures the freedom and vitality of a band playing for the sheer joy of it. \n \nTrueVines \n\n\nHighway Hosiery is the duo project of Elizabeth Steen (accordion) and Jude Heichelbech (cello.) Steen is a seasoned accordionist/keyboardist who has played and toured along Natalie Merchant\, Tanya Donelly\, and Billy Bragg among others\, and Heichelbech is a mostly self-taught multi-instrumentalist and visual artist. Together\, they pen catchy tunes about trial\, love and other oddities that span pop\, jazz\, rock and roots\, with a slant born out of their deep Pennsyltucky upbringings. Both are the daughters of English professors and musicians and have occupied the same seat at the keyboards for Count Zero. They are at work on an album to be released later this year.

A brutally honest lyricist and classically trained pianist\, Coran’s sound gravitates toward the symphonic\, with no shortage of textural\, disciplined phrases. To listen to a Sophie Coran track is to listen to a pop-infused symphony. \nHaving spent her formative years studying at the Manhattan School of Music followed by time spent traveling through Europe\, Coran’s back catalog is a nostalgic\, romantic look at the importance of human connection and the beauty of the places that mean the most to her. \nWhether you’re in love\, out of love\, or waiting to fall\, Coran makes you feel like you’re already there. Praised by NPR Music\, Ones to Watch\, EARMILK\, and more\, Coran was named an NPR Slingshot Artist to Watch and is a Shure Songwriting award winner. As a vocalist\, he emanates a sincere warmth through his thoughtful phrasing; and his diligent fingerpicking guitar-style leads steadily through the pulsing catharsis of any song. \nPulling influence from greats such as Townes Van Zandt\, Tom Waits\, Roseanne Cashand Missispi John Hurt\, Berlow creates music that is complex\, soulful and in conversation with a rich rhythmic history. He also derives inspiration from solitude in nature\, perambulations in the neighborhood and the conversations that arise when cooking a meal to share. \nBerlow’s music can currently be found on Bandcamp\, including the self-released albums Under the Weather Live at VCR . The single Roadkill can also be heard on Spotify. Berlow can be found performing with his band locally in Chicago\, as well as around the Midwest and North East. \n \nWallace Field \nFrom the metaphorical ashes of a breakup to the literal ashes of a house fire\, folk-rocker Wallace Field rises like a phoenix from the ashes with her debut album All Costs\, out now. The album features nine original songs\, took four years to make\, and premiered on the fifth anniversary of the house fire. With her “powerful voice reminiscent of Joan Baez” (The Valley Advocate)\, Field stuns with her haunting\, vulnerable songwriting and “crystalline voice” (The Recorder). The Boston Globe says “she always sounds like she means it.” Most of the album’s songs were written on baritone ukulele\, always with the aim to transform them into a more powerful full-band sound. \nNo emotion is too sacred to explore for this late-blooming artist. Trained as a journalist in college\, Field expertly unfolds her journey through heartbreak\, house fire\, and healing in All Costs. The Recorder writes that “Field emerges as a master storyteller who takes the listener on a journey through darkness to the light on the other side\,” calling the album “a powerful\, musically stunning debut about survival.” There are hints of Field’s influences in her range of voices\, from the theatrical Kate Bush and Aldous Harding\, to the folk roots of Joni Mitchell and Weyes Blood. \nField grew up in western Massachusetts. She’s performed in popular Massachusetts venues such as Cambridge’s Club Passim\, The Parlor Room in Northampton\, Holyoke’s Race Street Live (formerly Gateway City Arts)\, and Taffeta in Lowell. She’s opened for acts like Nellie McKay\, Charlie Parr\, Heather Maloney\, and Elizabeth Moen. Field also took part in Signature Sounds’ 2023 Back Porch Fest and 2023 Arcadia Folk Festival. \n \nEmily Haviland \nEmily Haviland’s musical journey is deeply rooted in the vibrant tapestry of the Greater Boston music scene\, where she has flourished for nearly a decade. A proud alumna of Berklee College of Music\, Emily’s academic pursuits led her through the intricate corridors of americana-fiddle performance\, where she explored the rich tapestry of American Roots music and its tumultuous history. Along with that\, she dual-majored in music therapy\, where she delved into the profound impact of music on the human psyche.  \nEmily Haviland’s debut album\, “Not Who You Think\,” released in February 2024\, epitomizes her unyielding commitment to pushing artistic boundaries. In both her performing style and songwriting\, Emily weaves together threads of authenticity and innovation\, creating an auditory experience that captivates and resonates deeply with her audience. Renowned fiddler Darol Anger aptly describes her as the “Realest Deal in a long time\,” praising her genuine voice\, profound reflections\, and songs that boldly articulate the unspoken truths we all harbor. “Real voice\, real thoughts\, real songs that say – with pungent power – what everyone’s really thinking. Glad to welcome her work into the world.” \nEmily Haviland has shared the stage alongside illustrious contemporaries such as Aoife O’Donovan\, Margo Price\, Twisted Pine\, Darol Anger\, the late Emy Phelps\, Bruce Molsky\, Abigail Lapell\, and Rachel Sumner. Her collaborative spirit shines through in her contributions to records by Alisa Amador\, Kaiti Jones\, and others\, cementing her status as a versatile and sought-after artist whose influence reverberates across genres.  \nWith each performance\, Emily invites her audience on a transcendental journey\, where melodies intertwine with emotions and storytelling transcends words. She is not merely an artist to watch; she is an experience to be savored\, a testament to the enduring power of music to illuminate\, inspire\, and unite. In the realm of contemporary music\, Emily Haviland stands as a beacon of authenticity and creativity\, leaving an indelible mark on hearts and minds alike.
