SUMMARY:Chandler Travis Philharmonic "Branches Out" Release w/Paulette Humanbeing
DESCRIPTION:$15/$20 Doors \nDoors 7 \n  \nChandler Travis Philharmonic celebrate their latest release “Branches Out” with Paulette Humanbeing June 24th! \n\n\n\n\nThe Chandler Travis Philharmonic (and Three-O!) with special guest Paulette Humanbeing throw a pre-release parrty for Chandler’s first CD in 8 years\, “Branches Out”\, featuring CTP alumni Dinty Child\, Dave Harris\, Ken Field\, and Ramona Silver. \nChandler Travis Philharmonic \n\n\n\n\nPaulette Humanbeing is the greatest singer songwriter ever to exist in humankind. \nShe was born as a biological male in the late 60’s to Walt and Moira Nichols\, two bright eyed kids from the upper San Joaquin valley in California. Walt was the son of two Belarussian immigrants while Moira was the daughter of Irish people. Paulette was preceded in birth order by Joe and Anne\, both ginger-haired. \nPaulette grew up in Stockton\, California\, a port city in the San Joaquin delta. She grew up playing soccer\, making and flying remote control gliders\, drawing\, being a negligent pet owner to her parakeets\, chameleon\, alligator lizard and frog. She got her amateur radio license when she was in the third grade\, but she never used it to go on air. She had a paper route for a couple of years and used the money she made from that to go golfing and to buy a bike. She loved golfing at Swensen Park golf course in Stockton. It was a public course. She started taking piano lessons when she was 11 years old. Her teacher thought she might be a reincarnated bebopper because she made bebop melodies somewhat naturally. She played her brother’s records in High School. He had Pat Metheny’s As falls Wichita\, so falls Wichita falls\, Todd Rundgren’s back to the bars and others\, Emerson Lake and Palmer’s greatest hits. She started playing guitar when she was 16. She liked the Tubes a lot\, mostly the first and second albums. \nOne of her first songs was about wiping out while skiing and hurting her neck. It went\, “ouch my neck\, it hurts so badly\, not good at all\, could you fix it\, I need it by tomorrow\, so I can turn my head when they yell and scream and shout and wait for any utterance from Paul.” Her name was Paul at the time and she played the song for her music teacher. She sang “I want to be your dog” in the high school talent show her senior year with the impromptu band\, The Ugly Girls. \nPaulette had to face the reality of leaving home and living on her own\, but she wasn’t ready for that so she went to college for 7 years. She dropped in and out of college\, changing her major from engineering to English to music to English and finally to music. She found that whatever major she pursued\, she was still transgender. It just wouldn’t go away. \nShe got her first real job at a stock brokerage firm and worked there as a wire operator and ultimately an assistant trader She did that for 6 years\, using up a good deal of her money to pay a psychologist who thought she wasn’t really transgender\, that she was scarred by her environment. While working at the brokerage firm\, she played with a band of traders called Shiner. After the band was named\, one of the members cheated on his wife so she clocked him with a phone\, and he came to practice with a shiner. \nPaulette was wrongfully terminated and took time off to write because she wanted to be a writer. She tried to write fiction but ended up writing an album of songs entitled Rockridge about her neighborhood. During this time off\, she sublet an apartment in New York City for a couple of months. She ran into Lou Reed in her neighborhood café and told him that she had made her album\, Rockridge\, after hearing his album\, New York. He put his hand on her shoulder\, said “Great” and walked away.

SUMMARY:Blue Ribbons/The Powhida Infirmary
DESCRIPTION:The Blue Ribbons return to the Lizard Lounge with The Powhida Infirmary June 27th!\n\n\n$15/$20 \nDoors 7 \n \n“The Blue Ribbons’ latest album\, 2024’s “Forever\, But Not For Long\,” has plenty of pop hooks. Or rather\, it had plenty of them before the band took sledgehammers and scalpels to most of the pretty bits. \n“It took a while to get the bones of some of the tunes down just so we could break them\,” bandleader James Rohr told Herald with a laugh. \nLocal champs the Blue Ribbons are a pop band in the same way that the Beatles or Steely Dan or Television are pop bands in that they like pop but “aren’t too precious about the songs\,” Rohr said. \nJed Gottleib – Boston Herald \n \nThe Blue Ribbons \n \n\n\nJohn Powhida’s newest rock send-up The Powhida Infirmary includes fellow inpatients Mike Gent (The Figgs\, Graham Parker) on drums\, Rick Cohen (Brian Wilson Band) on keys\, and John Sheeran (Township\, Nat Freedberg) on bass. A fixture of Boston music since 2000\, Powhida is the erstwhile frontman for the beloved Rudds and the one-time pilot of the John Powhida Airport International. The Albany native has garnered several Boston Music Awards\, won the WBCN Rock ‘n Roll Rumble in 2011\, and has performed with Graham Parker\, Peter Wolf\, Todd Rundgren\, and the Nazz. The Infirmary is working on their forthcoming debut—due in the summer of 2026\, it’s a bit of an art-rock fever dream\, a little injection of disco-pop\, and anything but prescriptive. Whatever ails you\, the Infirmary will cure. \nPowhida Infirmary

Enamored with the guitar from a very young age\, Nick draws much of his inspiration as a songwriter from his upbringing\, growing up the youngest of three boys in a small coastal Maine town. \nHis distinct sound is a fusion of indie rock\, folk\, and Americana\, shaped by the music that colored his youth and paired with a contemporary songwriting approach that reflects his perspective in today’s world. \nOn January 23\, 2026\, Nick released his debut full-length album Your Fight – a deeply personal record that explores themes of inner conflict\, emotional distance\, and the uneasey process of growing into adulthood. Written through periods of transition and self-reckoning\, the album captures moments of frustration\, vulnerability\, and resilliance\, offering an intimate look at the battles we fight and the ways we learn to move through them \nhttps://www.nickprato.com/ \n  \n\n\n“A Boston-based group that finds its inspiration from the rootsier end of the American music spectrum. Lining their work with acoustic guitars and bluesy riffs\, their work can also feel pretty anthemic and ready for a big crowd.” \n-Graeme Bentley\, Boston’s 92.5FM The River \n  \nAfter leaving the Army in 2018\, frontman Nate Perry returned to the Boston area with a new mission: to start a band. Stationed near Nashville\, Perry had initially focused on a military career\, but his time in Kentucky and Tennessee reignited his long-held passion for music. During his time off\, he immersed himself in Nashville’s live music scene\, captivated by the musicians on stage who were living the dream he longed to pursue. \nBack in Boston\, Nate soon connected with guitarist Mike Chandler\, a seasoned player whose previous band had recently disbanded. Together\, they began shaping a new musical direction. To complete the lineup\, they brought in drummer Sam Demello\, bassist Connor Milligan\, and keyboardist Ollie Nash. This collaboration birthed Nate Perry & Ragged Company\, a dynamic new force in the Americana-rock scene. \nSince forming\, Nate Perry & Ragged Company have been lighting up the Boston music scene and beyond\, playing shows that highlight their infectious songwriting and electric guitar-driven sound. In 2024\, they released their debut EP\, “The Otherside of Everything\,” which rapidly garnered over 10\,000 streams\, a testament to their growing popularity. \nNate Perry’s journey from the Army to concert stages is a testament to the power of finding and following one’s passion\, turning the muse of Nashville into the sounds of a rising Boston band. \n  \nNate Perry and the Ragged Company \n\n\nBreachway isthe musical project of Noah Barreto\, a Rhode Island-bred alt-country and indie-folk artist. Formerly a wild bird rehabilitator\, Barreto shifted to music full-time\, building a strong staple in the New England scene before expanding his project. \nBreachway

SUMMARY:The Wildwoods
DESCRIPTION:From the heart of Lincoln\, Nebraska\, The Wildwoods have grown into a folk/Americana trio rooted in rich harmonies and heartfelt storytelling\n\n\nDoors 7 \n \nThe Wildwoods\, hailing from Lincoln\, Nebraska\, continue to bring sonic beauty and simplicity to today’s increasingly complicated and cluttered musical landscape. With Dear Meadowlark\, the band’s fourth full-length album released on April 11\, 2025\, The Wildwoods have once again taken the hallmarks of the folk-Americana sound and dressed it in indie sensibilities a la heroes Nickel Creek and Gillian Welch as well as genre mainstays Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons. \nAnd yet\, at its core\, Dear Meadowlark is about three 20-something musicians celebrating the emotional allure of familiarity and comfort. “The main lyrical theme of the album is the appreciation for our home state of Nebraska and the homesickness that can come with long periods spent on the road\,” says Noah Gose. \nThe Wildwoods are Noah Gose on vocals\, acoustic and electric guitar; his wife\, Chloe Gose on vocals and violin; and longtime friend Andrew Vaggalis on vocals and upright bass. Their delicate embrace of the past\, present\, and future has transformed The Wildwoods into a potent entity. Recently\, The Wildwoods were finalists in the 2024 Rocky Mountain Songwriter Contest in Red Lodge\, Montana. In 2023\, the trio enjoyed being finalists in two high-profile band competitions – FreshGrass Music Festival and VHS “Gems in the Rough.” Also\, their songwriting strengths have been recognized by semi-final placements in the International Songwriting competition with tracks such as “Untitled” and “Way of Train.” \n“The Wildwoods I think inhabit their own unique shapeshifting genre. Their timeless Western sound somehow strikes a special musical place within a lot of us folks. That kind of music connects us through time & space.” \n— Cole Mitchek (Smallsongs)\, Americana Highways \nThe Wildwoods

SUMMARY:The Huntress and Holder of Hands/Wyn & The White Light
DESCRIPTION:The Huntress and Holder of Hands celebrate the release of their latest album "Babylon" with Wyn & The White Light July 17th!\n\n\n$20/$25 door \nDoors 7 \nThe Huntress and Holder of Hands phoenixed from the loss of songwriter MorganEve Swain’s husband and musical partner\, Dave Lamb (Brown Bird) in 2014 and has since evolved to encompass the anger\, hope\, despair and compassion of the greater good. Grief\, after all\, when shared\, becomes a unifying force. \nTen years after the band’s debut album\, Avalon\, The Huntress and Holder of Hands returns with Babylon. As the title suggests\, the collection grapples with corruption\, confusion and violence but also redemption\, hope\, and sanctuary. Songs like “Promethean”\, “Doctrine”\, “Beasts We Are” and “Ritual”\, ask questions of humanity—are we too late to change? Are we learning from our mistakes? Is this the world we want to leave behind? While other tracks— “Absence” and “Timbre Inaudible”—make it clear that Swain’s personal grief remains an active well. \nRecorded at Providence’s Machines With Magnets and Dirt Floor Studio in Middletown CT\, the album is heavier and fuller than its freshman effort\, employing Swain’s cousin Matt Swain (Two Feet) on drums\, as well as Death Vessel’s Joel Thibedau and Penn Sultan (Museum Legs\, Last Good Tooth) on percussion and atmosphere. Christopher Sadlers returns with dynamic electric bass—alternately sludgy\, distorted\, driving and supportive— while Liz Isenberg and Emily Dix Thomas provide swelling layers of cello\, bowed string bass and vocal harmonies. Tied together throughout with electric guitar\, violin and vocal lead by MorganEve Swain\, the result is a mature album full of urgency. \nBabylon also features songwriting from Emily Dix Thomas with “Rocky Coast” and a fully collaborative effort with “Desert Song”\, which was written and recorded as a pandemic Postal Service-style project between Swain\, Isenberg\, Sadlers\, Dix Thomas and former bandmate Rachel Blumberg and borrows words from the late Dave Noyes (Seekonk\, Rustic Overtones). Rounding out the album are the band’s live cover of Brown Bird’s “Bilgewater”\, and a final appeal to our wiser\, childlike selves with the at once sparce “Thunderstorm”\, whose ending harkens to composer Gavin Bryar’s “Sinking of the Titanic”. Will we let this ship go down too?  Will the empire fall? Or can we rewrite the story after all? \nWith grief as our teacher\, The Huntress and Holder of Hands’ Babylon\, implores us to consider our options. \nThe Huntress and the Holder of Hands \n\n\n\nWyn and the White Light is the pomegranate-infused haunted-soul-rock band led by two-time ‘Female Performer of the Year’ New England Music Award (NEMA) nominee Wyn Doran. Wyn is no stranger to the New England music scene\, receiving numerous NEMA nominations for her solo music\, opening for acts including Rhett Miller and Giant Rooks\, and working closely with Ben Folds at songwriting retreats. With the addition of Lucia Jean (bass/vocals) and Heidi Tierney (drums/vocals)\, Wyn has expanded into a new electric chapter with the White Light. The trio’s live act has taken flight: weaving primal\, haunting energy with “blackened\, burning candor (Deli Magazine)\,” and selling out numerous Boston shows in their first year. \nAll members of the band have faced their mortality in the wake of medical trauma\, uniting to lift the message of Wyn’s songs which confront the experience of living with chronic illness and strength found in adversity. The trio recorded their debut 10-song LP entitled ‘Luck” in 2023\, a journey through the divine feminine and near death experience. \nWyn & The White Light

SUMMARY:Hopeless Romantics/Gatch/LEYVA
DESCRIPTION:The Hopeless Romantics\, Gatch and LEYVA live at the Lizard Lounge July 24th!\n\n\n$15/$20 door \nDoors 7 \n \n The Hopeless Romantics are a Boston-based Pop Rock band delivering infectious melodies\, rich harmonies\, and undeniable energy. \n Fronted by Reid Kieper (lead vocals\, guitar) with Drew Leuci (lead guitar)\, Colin McNamara (bass)\, and Sean Smith (drums). We aim to craft original music that blends a raw do-it-yourself indie spirit with exciting radio-ready hooks. \nHopeless Romantics \n\n\nGatch is a singer\, songwriter\, and multi-instrumentalist from New England. He grew up at the mouth of the Long Island Sound\, staring out into the great beyond in anticipation of what would surely be a lifetime of adventure. \nThat sense of curiosity has always been part of his music. Growing up in southeastern Connecticut\, surrounded by maritime history and stories of people setting out into the unknown\, he was drawn to writers like Tolkien\, Robert Louis Stevenson\, and Jules Verne – artists who understood that searching for something can be just as important as finding it. \nMusic found him early. He started writing songs on the family piano as soon as he could talk\, and the guitar found him soon after. In middle school\, he met his long-time partner and band mate Aaron Lewis\, and they would go on to cut their teeth in Connecticut’s underground Chinese restaurant scene. Over the past two decades\, he has developed a cinematic sonic palate that pulls from a wide variety of influences from the world’s boundless repository of folk music to the top of the pops. His music is emotionally honest and difficult to categorize\, the kind that rewards the listener who stays. \nA two-time Boston Music Awards nominee\, he has been featured in The Boston Globe\, The Boston Herald\, and Vanyaland’s Top 20 Year-End list\, and has performed sold out shows across the Northeast. \nGatch

SUMMARY:Thalia Zedek/Sarah Borges/Field Day
DESCRIPTION:Thalia Zedek\, Sarah Borges and Field Day live at the Lizard Lounge July 31st at 8 pm.\n\n\n\nThalia Zedek is an artist of immutable stature and unceasing vitality. The legendary songwriter’s fiery voice and frank lyricism give her songs both their emotional potency and their stark beauty. Zedek is able to distill complex events into simple\, clear\, and at times monumentally weighty moments with a singular grace. Through ballads or bluster\, Zedek imbues her music with unguarded honesty. New album Perfect Vision examines the anxiety and pain of rising divisions between people both physical and ideological. On Perfect Vision\, Zedek transmutes fervor and resilience into sobering laments\, while her lush arrangements wrap the listener in an often complex emotional message. \nThalia Zedek \n\n\n\nOne way or another\, Sarah Borges connects with casual mastery. Whether it’s with the comrades she’s collaborated with over nearly 20 sparkling years of music-making\, or the vivid portraits of people’s lives – and occasionally her own – she’s sketched in scores of emotionally resonant songs. But most of all\, Borges has built a loyal following by connecting\, through her own charismatic\, down-to-earth spirit\, with her audience – whether they’re longtime fans from back when she broke through with her terrific “Silver City” debut in 2004\, or newcomers just now joining the party. \nhttps://sarahborges.com/ \n\n\n\nField Day formed proverbially\, in a basement\, and unexpectedly\, when its members were well into middle age. Joan Anderman was a neophyte\, having left her longtime post as rock critic at The Boston Globe and set out to become a songwriter. Her former Globe colleague Dan Zedek\, veteran of numerous college bands\, was sitting on a stash of songs written in his head while riding the train to work. The band’s original drummer John Kehe offered his gear-filled basement for weekend song circles. The chemistry was potent. These songs and these songwriters belonged together. With the addition of bassist Larla O’Halloran and drummer Chuck Hargreaves\, Field Day has become an unlikely upstart on the Boston club scene\, playing rock music with scrappy hooks\, dreamy harmonies\, and irrepressible spirit. \nField Day
