DESCRIPTION:The Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured artist kwe\, September 27th!\n\n\n$10 \nA native son of West Africa\, born of a Ghanaian mother and a Cameroonian father\, poet\, multi-instrumentalist\, composer\, podcast host\, educator\, producer\, and entrepreneur\, kwe started the Music Is Healing Us (MIHU) collective in 2014 as a bridge between music\, community education\, and wellness. The collective hosted the Unity through Music celebration at Shastice Park in Mount Shasta\, CA\, and the Cambridge Center for the Arts in Cambridge\, MA. kwe has had the opportunity to share the stage with some of his favorite artists\, including Habib Koite\, Mad Professor\, and KRS-ONE\, as well as several other singers and instrumentalists from the MIHU collective. kwe is an alumnus of the University of California at Berkeley\, where he received his PhD in Education\, and the University of Chicago\, where he studied Humanities and Philosophy of Religion. He has taught Humanities\, Philosophy\, Music and Art+Design at Harold Washington College (one of the City Colleges of Chicago) and Northeastern University. \nHe has released several albums\, including “Astronomy” (2019) and “Bright Side” (2021)\, both released on his Music Is Healing imprint. The messages carried forth by the hypnotic\, meditative\, and trance-inducing riddims rest on themes of brotherhood\, devotion\, and praise\, with songs like “His Name” mixed by Scientist and featuring Junior Toots (son of legendary Toots Hiɓbert from Toots and the Maytals). kwe performed the opening libation at the 2024 Boston Juneteenth celebration in Roxbury\, MA\, and also performed his self-published “Dirges of Becoming” at the Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam in Cambridge\, MA\, with the Jeff Robinson Trio. \nHe received an Aspen Writers Foundation Bedell scholarship for Summer Words Festival where he performed at the Belly Up. \nkwe is also a radio host at WBCA 102.9FM Boston’s community radio station\, where he hosts the Music Is Healing Boston radio show\, and a former host on KALX at Berkeley and WMBR at MIT. He is working on a new full-length recording project featuring collaborations with some of the best musicians in the Greater Boston and Washington\, D.C.\, areas\, where he partially grew up. \nLizard Lounge Poetry Jam

DESCRIPTION:Reckoners return to the Lizard Lounge October 1st to celebrate their latest release "Where the Hell Am I?" with special guest Dennis Brennan\n\n\nA little bit of soul and a whole lotta’ rock ‘n’ roll! Reckonersis an all-star music group featuring some of the top players in the Boston music scene who have worked with and along side some of the best in the business. Fronting the group is the great Tim Gearan on vocals & guitar. Assembled and leading the band is the extraordinary guitarist Johnny Trama (Bettye LaVette\, The Silks\, Dub Apocalypse\, The B3 Kings). Holding down the rhythm section on drums is the masterful Tom Arey (Peter Wolf\, The J. Geils Band\, G. Love). On bass is the one and only Marc Hickox (Bettye LaVette\, Charlie Musselwhite)\, and on keyboards\, the very talented Darby Wolf (Bettye LaVette\, Rubblebucket). Paying homage to the roots of early soul and classic rock\, their songs and vibe make you experience something new and original yet completely familiar. Do not miss Reckoners coming to a town near you soon! \n\n\nAt age 9 he entered show business as Rumplestiltsken in a grammar school play. In 7th grade he performed “Louie Louie” with a local garage band at the Berlin\, Ma. Town Hall and quickly evolved into “the lead singer” \nThat band evolved into “The Paranoids”\, his musical outlet throughout his high school years. They opened shows for both The Remains and The Barbarians\, garage band legends who are each featured on “Nuggets\, original artyfacts from the first psychedelic era” Rhino R2 75486. \nFollowing high school. Brennan’s education continued as lead singer in such well regarded outfits as “The Dirty Rye Band”\, The West Side Band”\, “The Martells”\, and “Push Push”. These bands performed in every bar and dive on the east coast. An education indeed. \nIn 1992 he formed the Dennis Brennan Band and started his solo career\, quickly releasing two critically acclaimed recordings on Upstart Records\, a division of Rounder. In 2000 he released “Rule #1” on ESCA Records which resulted in glowing reviews from The New Yorker\, The Chicago Sun Times\, The Boston Phoenix as well as other publications nationwide. Part of the beauty of New Orleans music is that it’s celebrated and appreciated wherever it goes\, from the street to the theater. \nThe Po Boys formed in 2012 to shake the walls of a local club on a Fat Tuesday but have honed their sound and become more than a Mardi Gras centerpiece. DESCRIPTION:Led by Nate Wilson of Percy Hill and Moe fame\, Ghosts of Jupiter return to the Lizard Lounge with The Chops Oct 24th!\n\n\n$20/$25 Door \nDoors 7 \n \nGhosts of Jupiter is a psychedelic rock band based out of the Boston area\, previously known as the Nate Wilson Group. Led by former Percy Hill keyboardist Nate Wilson\, the band features a loud\, riff-heavy sound inspired by classic rock groups such as Led Zeppelin\, Black Sabbath\, and Cream. \nNate Wilson: Keyboards\, Lead Vocals\, Flute \nPierre Aleksi: Guitar \nThomas Lada: Bass\, Keyboards \nBarrett Goeman: Drums \nGhosts of Jupiter \n \nThe goal of starting the Chops was to provide improvised music to fans with a unique take that is more raw than what is around. Compositions are heavily inspired by west coast psychedelic rock\, the Bosstown sound and the Nuggets Collection album. During the debut show of the Chops\, the band’s name came to be when an older man asked what the band’s name was. He exclaimed that the band had big ‘chops’ while asking. The name was originally going to be temporary but soon got solidified as permanent. \n \nThe brainchild of 1960s psychedelic music lover\, songwriter\, singer and guitarist Seth Gomez\, the Chops has grown from a seed of 1960s flower power into an up-and-coming jamband blossoming into the New England music scene. Formed in 2019 with a vision of blending vintage rock musicality with modernity\, the band featured a rotating lineup before settling with full-time members Bethany Komine (bass)\, Chris Celucci (drums)\, Emma Derhak (vocals)\, Matt Glickman (Zach Nugent\, Buddahfly) on keyboards and Seth Gomez on guitar. The Chops have shared stages and bills with Mihali (Twiddle)\, the Magic Beans\, Big Something\, Max Creek\, and more. Members have also performed alongside members of the Grateful Dead and Furthur (late Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh’s band). \nThe Chops

I am an Armenian refugee from Azerbaijan. During the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan\, my family and I\, at age six\, migrated to the Russian parts of the former Soviet Union\, and years later\, in 1993\, we migrated to the United States. At age twenty\, in the year 2000\, I was arrested and imprisoned. During my years of incarceration\, my life set me on the path of spiritual and intellectual growth. DESCRIPTION:Ethan Rossiter and Lady Lupine live at the Lizard Lounge October 28th!\n\n\nLocal singer/songwriter Ethan Rossiter (and his killer band) are a fun live crew! Their tunes stretch many styles. From jangly rock to folk to reggae\, his toe-tapping songs take on themes of love and aging. Rossiter has been recording and performing his songs for many years (including a run for a few years creating kids/family music with his band The Jamberries). The band hopes you will catch them soon and enjoy some original\, upbeat music. \nEthan Rossiter \n\n\nLady Lupine is a Boston based heavy soul band that delivers high energy performances of unique original material. The band creates an engaging live experience by cultivating visceral connections through sound. Fronted by vocalist Christina Lacoste\, Lady Lupine draws inspiration from the soul of Amy Winehouse\, and the sonic eclecticism of Portishead. Traces of Vulfpeck’s tight\, technical funk\, and Jimi Hendrix’s fuzz rock grooves can be heard in the band’s sound as well. Front woman Christina Lacoste\, guitarist Fran McConville Jr\, drummer Josh Cuadra and Bassist Jon Dusoe met in 2010 while performing in a band called The Elements.
