SUMMARY:Organ Fairchild
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Organ Fairchild described as “adventurous\, vital and alive” by Glide Magazine\, live at the Lizard Lounge Oct 22nd at 8 o'clock!\n\n\n$15 adv/$20 door \nDoors 7 \nHailed as a “fast-rising NY band” by Live For Live Music\, and a group that’s “making waves in the scene” by JamBase\, Organ Fairchild craft their organ-trio-meets-rock- band sound — described as “adventurous\, vital and alive” by Glide Magazine — by synthesizing influences ranging from Soulive and Medeski Martin & Wood to The Grateful Dead\, Steely Dan and the Meters. And when they’re on stage completely captivating an audience without a bass player – and nobody singing – there is no confusing them for any other artist on today’s scene. As Atlanta’s FunkCity.net writes\, “Get ready to be bowled over by this terrific trio – old school funk fusion with new era notions of jam.” \nOrgan Fairchild

SUMMARY:Ghosts of Jupiter/The Chops
DESCRIPTION:Led by Nate Wilson of Percy Hill and Moe fame\, Ghosts of Jupiter return to the Lizard Lounge with The Chops Oct 24th!\n\n\n$20/$25 Door \nDoors 7 \n \nGhosts of Jupiter is a psychedelic rock band based out of the Boston area\, previously known as the Nate Wilson Group. Led by former Percy Hill keyboardist Nate Wilson\, the band features a loud\, riff-heavy sound inspired by classic rock groups such as Led Zeppelin\, Black Sabbath\, and Cream. \nNate Wilson: Keyboards\, Lead Vocals\, Flute \nPierre Aleksi: Guitar \nThomas Lada: Bass\, Keyboards \nBarrett Goeman: Drums \nGhosts of Jupiter \n \nThe goal of starting the Chops was to provide improvised music to fans with a unique take that is more raw than what is around. Compositions are heavily inspired by west coast psychedelic rock\, the Bosstown sound and the Nuggets Collection album. During the debut show of the Chops\, the band’s name came to be when an older man asked what the band’s name was. He exclaimed that the band had big ‘chops’ while asking. The name was originally going to be temporary but soon got solidified as permanent. \n \nThe brainchild of 1960s psychedelic music lover\, songwriter\, singer and guitarist Seth Gomez\, the Chops has grown from a seed of 1960s flower power into an up-and-coming jamband blossoming into the New England music scene. Formed in 2019 with a vision of blending vintage rock musicality with modernity\, the band featured a rotating lineup before settling with full-time members Bethany Komine (bass)\, Chris Celucci (drums)\, Emma Derhak (vocals)\, Matt Glickman (Zach Nugent\, Buddahfly) on keyboards and Seth Gomez on guitar. The Chops have shared stages and bills with Mihali (Twiddle)\, the Magic Beans\, Big Something\, Max Creek\, and more. Members have also performed alongside members of the Grateful Dead and Furthur (late Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh’s band). \nThe Chops

SUMMARY:Ink From Honey Presents: More than an Underclass\, We are Poets
DESCRIPTION:Ink From Honey Presents: More than an Underclass\, We are Poets; Community Outreach: The Resource to Freedom is Through You & I.\n\n\n$10 \nThe fourth installment of our incarcerated poets project\, where the cold\, silent steel of prison bars melts against the raw warmth of human voice. \nIncarcerated and formerly incarcerated poets pour their heartbreaks and triumphs onto the stage\, demanding that we feel the heavy\, hollow ache of their absence from our streets. Their words remind us that society bleeds from a fractured rib cage as long as our neighbors are locked away in solitary shadow. This unforgettable night shatters the distance between us\, proving that true liberation cannot grow in isolation—our only resource to freedom is the living\, breathing bridge built between You and I. \n \nPoets’ bios: \nArtem Vaskanyan \nHello\, my name is Artem Vaskanyan. I am an Armenian refugee from Azerbaijan. During the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan\, my family and I\, at age six\, migrated to the Russian parts of the former Soviet Union\, and years later\, in 1993\, we migrated to the United States. At age twenty\, in the year 2000\, I was arrested and imprisoned. During my years of incarceration\, my life set me on the path of spiritual and intellectual growth. Because of my drive to persevere\, I was able to graduate from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts in 2020\, become an activist\, a writer & Poet\, and a published author of three books. \nThank you for listening. \nYours truly\, \n-Artem \n \nAmos Don \nMy name is Amos Don\, and I am a dedicated scholar\, creative author\, and community advocate currently enrolled in the Emerson Prison Initiative of Emerson College. I am a young\, black\, and gifted aboriginal man. I am currently incarcerated and in my last year as a student of Emerson College. I’ve been in a track meet for three years chasing down that elusive bachelor’s degree; and through my journey’s\, I found life and happiness\, but not by living for myself\, but by living for and in communion with others. But what I would like to know… would you live for me? \n \nPeter Bin \nMy name is Peter Bin. I am an alumnus (‘25) of the Emerson Prison Initiative of Emerson College. I am an advocate for the AAPI Community. I am the Chairman of the Asian Pacific Culture Alliance (APICA). And I believe our voices should always be amplified\, no matter the conditions we are in. On my free time\, I write poetry\, perform and play music. \n \nElijah “Just-I-Cee Allah” Charles \nMy name is Just.I.Cee Allah and I am currently incarcerated at MCI-Norfolk for a manslaughter. I am a righteous teacher and sincere adherent of the Nation of Gods and Earths and a poet closely associated with Ink From Honey in whom aids and assisted publishing my first book “The Jewel That Lit The Barren Attic”\, which is out on Amazon now and soon I am set to publish my second book “9\,000 Miles Away From Home”. I have learned over 4 languages and traveled over the world. My goal is to inspire others through writing and poetry. If you take nothing from my poetry I hope to leave you with this\,”they say fake it till you make it” I say no\, face it till you make it. Because facing myself and whatever comes my way with God’s help\, is what help me to continue my daily improvement to the person you are meeting today. It’s just getting starting. \n \nJonas Francisque \nMy name is Jonas Francisque\, and I am an innocent man currently serving a second-degree life sentence. I channel my resilience into my education as a student in the Emerson Prison Initiative of Emerson College. As a dedicated community leader and visual storyteller\, I serve as the Chairman of the Father’s Group and the head photographer for the Photography Prison Program\, blending advocacy with art. I am deeply committed to family unification and bring a unique\, powerful philosophy to my work: a visit is not just a visit—it’s an event. \n \nWade Drayton \nMy bio would not be complete if I didn’t tell you all that my name is Wade Grant\, and I did 37 years in prison under the name Wayne Grant. I didn’t even get the dignity of accomplishing the things I accomplished under my name. But I took this as a motivational tool\, and it drove me to become the person I am today. A college grad\, a certified paralegal\, certified in culinary arts\, a licensed barber\, a certified welder\, an amateur carpenter\, a college teaching fellow\, and a number of other things. SUMMARY:Jessye DeSilva "Jackals" Single Release w/Adi Sun (solo)
DESCRIPTION:For Transgender Awareness Month\, Jessye DeSilva and her band will release the new single “Jackals\,” on all streaming platforms Nov 5th!\n\n\nFor Transgender Awareness Month this November\, Jessye DeSilva and her band will release the new single “Jackals\,” on all streaming platforms. Born of righteous rage and roaring electric guitars\, “Jackals” is a primal scream directed at TERFS and all those who would throw Trans people under the proverbial bus for their own comfort or political expediency.Boston-based singer-songwriter Jessye DeSilva has been releasing music and touring nationally since 2019\, earning praise from No Depression\, Rolling Stone\, and The Boot. Known for blending Americana roots with expansive\, genre-defying songwriting\, she has shared stages with Lisa Loeb\, Adeem the Artist\, and Brian Dunne\, performed at AmericanaFest\, and collaborated with artists including Jake Blount and Butch Walker. \nNo Depression says “Comparisons to Elton John and Brandi Carlile are easy — DeSilva clearly takes a page from these idols\, anchoring songs in pop melody juggernauts\, gauzy textures\, and vocal bravado.” Nashville Scene named her a 2023 Artist To Watch\, saying “DeSilva could inject new life into a genre that could definitely use a little more pretzel logic.” \nJessye DeSilva

SUMMARY:Lyle Brewer "Learning Curve" Album Release
DESCRIPTION:Lyle Brewer returns to the Lizard Lounge November 12th for the release of his latest album "Learning Curve"\n\n\n$25 adv/$30 door \n \nLyle Brewer is a guitarist and songwriter from Massachusetts who incorporates the worlds of fingerstyle\, jazz and folk into a style all his own. \nA professor at Berklee College of Music and a sideman to artists such as Lori McKenna\, Ryan Montbleau and Neighbor\, Brewer has earned a reputation as one of the most skilled instrumentalists and composers of his generation. \nWhat separates Lyle from other guitarists\, however\, is what he doesn’t play. Not just another instrumental technician\, Brewer’s music is always in service to the song\, creating a rich and sophisticated quality both on record and in performance. \nThe Boston Globe describes his music as “thoughtful\, artfully composed instrumentals”\, while USA Today writes\, “Brewer’s technical ability is staggering — each note both runs into the next and seems to stand out on its own. The melodies take the place of lyrics. The songs tell stories without words.” \nOn his 13th solo album\, “Learning Curve”\, that same balance between technical mastery and narrative-based storytelling is on full display. This new album is a collection of 10 poignant songs that draw inspiration from Nick Drake\, Joni Mitchell\, The Beatles and Antonio Carlos Jobim. \nWhether on nylon string or electric guitar\, Brewer has a strong ability to communicate his ideas. You don’t need to be a guitarist to dive into Brewer’s instrumentals. He lets the music do the talking. \nLyle Brewer

DESCRIPTION:The Blue Ribbons return to the Lizard Lounge with Housatonic Speed Equipment Nov 13th\n\n\n$15/$20 \nDoors 7 \n  \n“The Blue Ribbons’ latest album\, 2024’s “Forever\, But Not For Long\,” has plenty of pop hooks. Or rather\, it had plenty of them before the band took sledgehammers and scalpels to most of the pretty bits. \n“It took a while to get the bones of some of the tunes down just so we could break them\,” bandleader James Rohr told Herald with a laugh. \nLocal champs the Blue Ribbons are a pop band in the same way that the Beatles or Steely Dan or Television are pop bands in that they like pop but “aren’t too precious about the songs\,” Rohr said. \nJed Gottleib – Boston Herald \n  \nThe Blue Ribbons \n  \n\n\nHousatonic Speed Equipment (S.E.) are a rock trio from Boston fronted by Nate McBride’s bass and vocals\, featuring Mike Castellana on guitar and drummer/engineer Andy Plaisted. \nShot full of noise\, determinedly flexible\, and tripping over just the right amount of crappy\, rusty objects en route through the woods that stretch from Hank Williams’s yard to Alex Chilton’s. \n  \nThe group’s recorded output consists of their EP A Strategy For Finding Volume\, available on Bandcamp. \nhttps://housatonicse.bandcamp.com

SUMMARY:Brighton Beat/Quadrapeg
DESCRIPTION:Brighton Beat with special guests Quadrapeg November 14th!\n\n\nDoors 7 \nOriginally hailing from right around the corner in Brighton\, MA – The Brighton Beat is a unique and engaging spectacle for all ages. A huge band playing epic horn funk with a full horn section\, epic percussion\, and non-stop foot stomping grooves. With influences ranging from classic New Orleans brass band Funk to Classic 70’s Afrobeat this is a dance party not to miss!. Performing up and down the East coast since 2010\, the band has developed a style of performance that uniquely engages the audience and is fun for the whole family. Positive\, uplifting\, danceable music is a trademark of The Brighton Beat sound. Instrumental songs that feature room for the horn section to improvise anchor the band’s set\, but the show often includes guest vocalists\, audience participation\, group sing-a-longs and even the occasional circus act. Welcome to your new favorite band/family. \nBrighton Beat \nThree things bind this quartet together: friendship\, a love of jazz and funk\, and a shared sense of humor. In the 2010s\, Bassist Jameson Stewart\, organist Ben Blanchard\, drummer Patrick Dalton\, and guitarist Sam Crawford formed a close personal and musical rapport working together as sidemen in various styles. It wouldn’t be long until they tried playing their own instrumental music as a quartet. Today\, QuadraPeg brings joy and vitality to their compositions and improvisations\, always with a solid groove\, camaraderie\, and a touch of the absurd. \nQuadrapeg

SUMMARY:Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam-Rohan Nijhawan
DESCRIPTION:Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured poet Rohan Nijhawan Nov 15th!\n\n\n$10 \nRohan Nijhawan is a 36-year-old Cambridge-born poet and activist. Born with a one-of-a-kind\, unknown disease\, Rohan has experienced life’s ups and downs. Although he has a disability\, Rohan does not let that disability define him. He has been skydiving twice in California\, mountain biking in Colorado\, snorkeling in Jamaica\, and most recently\, meeting His Holiness\, the Dalai Lama. He is a self-described life of the party\, as many of his friends can attest to. Rohan gave his friends and family a challenge: describe his poetry in one word. Some of the words that came up were: revolutionary\, smooth-truths\, insightful\, and introspective. Rohan tells a powerful story through his poetry and activism. The biggest influence in his poetry\, and\, for that matter\, his life\, is The Legend himself\, Robert Nesta Marley. Rohan published his first book\, Tick Tock Tempestuous: Poems of Love\, Death\, Angst & Humanity\, in the fall of 2023. Be on the lookout for his second book\, a collection of haikus\, titled I Fall Without Fear\, coming soon! \nLizard Lounge Poetry Jam
