SUMMARY:Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam-Rohan Nijhawan
DESCRIPTION:The Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured poet Rohan Nijhawan Sept 21st!\n\n\n$10 \nRohan Nijhawan is a 35-year-old Cambridge-born poet and activist. Born with a one-of-a-kind\, unknown disease\, Rohan has experienced the ups and downs in life. Although he has a disability\, Rohan does not let that disability define him. He has been skydiving twice in California\, mountain biking in Colorado\, snorkeling in Jamaica\, and most recently\, meeting His Holiness\, the Dalai Lama. He is a self-described life of the party\, as many of his friends can attest to. Rohan gave his friends and family a challenge: describe his poetry in one word. Some of the words that came up were: revolutionary\, smooth-truths\, insightful\, and introspective. Rohan tells a powerful story through his poetry and activism. His biggest influence in his poetry\, and\, for that matter\, his life is The Legend himself\, Robert Nesta Marley. Rohan just published his first book titled Tick Tock Tempestuous: Poems of Love\, Death\, Angst & Humanity in the fall of 2023. \nLizard Lounge Poetry Jam

SUMMARY:High Tea/Chris Walton/Prateek
DESCRIPTION:High Tea\, Chris Walton and Prateek live at the Lizard Lounge Sept 18th at 8pm!\n\n\n$15 adv/$20 door \nDoors 7 \n \nHigh Tea\, the folk-punk “story-yelling” duo hailing from Massachusetts\, is what happens when a yarn-spinning blues guitarist meets a harmony-obsessed punk. Isabella DeHerdt and Isaac Eliot have come together to fill spaces with homegrown tales and booming vocals. Their songs are ripe with existential angst\, weaving narratives of growing up\, going wild\, and always coming back to the ones you love. \n \nTheir previous releases\, Scuba Diving\, Old Cowboy\, and The Wick And The Flame were featured on playlists\, radio shows\, and publications like The Boston Globe\, The Greenfield Recorder (among others). The title track of Old Cowboy led them to be chosen as one of WBUR’s top 4 Massachusetts Tiny Desk entries of 2022. They toured The Wick And The Flame on the West Coast\, in New England\, and throughout other US States and received write ups from Atwood’s Magazine\, The Boston Herald\, and more. They were nominated for the New England Music Awards Best Americana Act in 2023\, and were selected to perform in the Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in 2025. \n \nDespite its name\, there’s nothing little about High Tea’s upcoming album\, A Small Notion. Listeners are led through an inspiringly personal journey\, from the disoriented yearning of loss\, to an appreciation of the brutal realities of rough living\, to tender reflections on past mistakes\, to an ultimate acceptance of the all-too-human need for community and care. As ever\, the Massachusetts duo is heavily committed to marrying intensely beautiful lyrical storytelling with congruent and energetically contagious instrumental arrangements. Without a doubt\, A Small Notion is some of High Tea’s most honest\, eye-opening\, and cathartic work yet. \nhttps://www.highteaband.com/ \n\n\nChris is a singer-songwriter who holds down lead guitar/vocals for his 5-piece band\, but can easily strip it down and perform solo. Chris can go from getting you into your feels with heartfelt lyrics\, to making you groove with funky\, soulful beats. His jazz-kissed folk music is inspired by the likes of Cory Wong\, early John Mayer\, and Tom Misch.www.chriswaltonmusic.com \n\n\nWith his heartbreakingly powerful voice and incisive lyrics\, Prateek (pruh – TEEK) has been described as “Not just any guy with a guitar…” by The Boston Globe. When you hear his music\, you’ll believe it too. Evolving away from the spare\, Dylan-esque sound of his first EP\, Prateek’s latest album “‘Til June” adds gritty electric guitars\, silvery backing vocals\, and a driving rhythm section\, all in service of his tightly written\, evocative songcraft. Prateek has been a Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Finalist and has been nominated for Singer-Songwriter of the Year at both the New England Music Awards and the Boston Music Awards. His music has seen rotation all over the radio including Sirius XM\, 98.9 WERS\, and 92.5 The River. Listen to “‘Til June” now wherever music is sold or streamed. \nPrateek

SUMMARY:Which Side?: A Protest Music Teach Out
DESCRIPTION:A concert and discussion series celebrating and exploring protest music continues September 17th!\n\n\nPay What You Want \nDoors 7\, Music 8 \n \nWhich Side?: A Protest Music Teach-Out is a concert and discussion series celebrating and exploring protest music. The events will use James Sullivan’s book\, Which Side Are You On?: 20th Century American History in 100 Protest Songs\, as a starting point for the presentation of songs that ask listeners to consider how music gives voice to resistance\, advocacy\, and change. While the series will anchor itself to the book\, collaborators will also contribute 21st-century music\, both originals and covers. \nScheduled to perform on September 17 are Haasan Barclay\, David Champagne (Treat Her Right)\, Ezra Furman\, Bob Pernice\, Veronica Robles\, and Ryan Walsh (Hallelujah the Hills) \nThey will be backed by the house band\, The Paid Protesters\, led by Ed Valauskas\, Paul Buckley\, Magen Tracy\, and Mike Oram. Each performer will do a song inspired by Sullivan’s book\, and a song of their own. \nThe 90-minute show will also feature commentary by Sullivan\, and a short panel discussion at the end. \nThe show is scheduled to begin promptly at 8 p.m. \nAdmission is pay-what-you-want\, with all proceeds going to the musicians and other direct expenses. Tickets can be reserved\, but a reservation does not guarantee entry unless you are in the room by 7:30 p.m. If there are people waiting for entry\, reservations will be released starting at that time. \nIf there are any profits after workers are paid\, they will be donated to an appropriate non-profit fighting for intellectual freedom in our nation’s courts. \nThis series is produced by Joyce Linehan\, Jon Lupfer\, James Sullivan\, and Ed Valauskas\, with the help of many generous friends. Artwork by Joanne Kaliontzis.

SUMMARY:Suitcase Junket Live at the Lizard Lounge WSG Cloudbelly
DESCRIPTION:Suitcase Junket live at the Lizard Lounge Sept 13th with Cloudbelly!\n\n\n$25 adv/$30 door \nDoors 7 \nFor two intimate and wide-ranging nights at the Lizard Lounge\, The Suitcase Junket will be trying out new songs in anticipation of going into the recording studio later this fall. Love to have you there to be part of the process. There’ll be plenty of songs from the six previous albums as well\, including writing from Lorenz’ last album\, The End is New from Renew Records/BMG. Two different nights. Come for one or both. The Suitcase Junket developed in the tension between the grand and the solitary. Grand in imagery\, sound\, and staging. Solitary in thrift and self-reliance. NPR calls Matt Lorenz a “master of musical imagination.” What instruments he requires\, Lorenz builds from scratch and salvage. What parts five players would perform\, he performs alone. The spectacle of his one-man set bears comparison to legends of showmanship\, brilliance\, madness\, and invention. While audiences are captivated by that solitary form and the show itself\, Lorenz\, who homesteads in Western Massachusetts\, is most serious about the songs. Over the course of six full-length releases\, the latest from Renew Records at BMG\, he has written a world into existence\, crowded with characters\, narratives\, voices\, imagery\, sounds as wide and varied as mountain throat singers and roadhouse juke boxes\, plus newsreels of the planet’s destruction and salvage. More songs are coming. \n“A living\, breathing\, throat-singing\, road-tested\, avant-garde\, one-man-band who is in a state of perpetual motion… gutsy\, fuzzed-out\, groove-laden psych rock.” – National Public Radio \n“Now this is the shit I’m talking about\, Jack. The Suitcase Junket is a lo-fi\, low-tuned\, low-down blast of end-times folk blues. It’s crude; it’s magnificent. With a stage set-up that resembles a junkyard foley stage or Fred Sanford’s living room\, The Suitcase Junket — one man band leader Matt Lorenz — incants and intones like a cross between Hound Dog Taylor and a Tuvan throat singer who has swallowed a bird. Take the singer-songwriter idiom\, give it a low grade fever and a guitar and this is what you get. Captivating\, mesmerizing\, and gone … real gone.” – Rochester City Newspaper \n“Jaw-dropping… It’s the biggest sound I’ve ever heard come from a solo performer. Matt is definitely his own thing and it is something. The live experience is pretty\, darn unforgettable.” — Beale Street Caravan \n“Bluesy guitar riffs\, tenacious melodies and a singing voice both weathered and nimble. You don’t need to witness his physics-defying performance to be captivated; the music stands on its own… astonishing.” – WBUR Boston \nSuitcase Junket \n\n\nAt once intimate and cinematic\, Western MA based indie folk band Cloudbelly has been recognized by the Kerrville New Folk Competition\, New Song at Citizen Vinyl\, WBUR tiny Desk Roundup\, Signature Sounds Record Label\, and their most recent release I know I know I know was hailed by the Boston Globe as one of the best records of 2024. Cloudbelly is singer songwriter Corey Laitman\, electric guitarist Sam Perry\, producer\, singer songwriter and bassist Ciarra Fragale\, and polymath producer and drummer\, Nate Monschein. \nCloudbelly

SUMMARY:Abbie Barrett Band\, Adi Sun\, & The Quahogs
DESCRIPTION:Abbie Barrett returns to the Lizard Lounge with Adi Sun and the Quahogs Sept 5th at 8pm!\n\n\nEvent is 21+ \n$18/22 door \nDoors 7 \nFueled by a pop-rock sensibility\, Abbie Barrett’s songwriting is unique and unpredictable—but always something you can sing along to. Her music has been featured in Magnet\, American Songwriter\, the Boston Herald\, Vanyaland\, and on CMT’s Cool Album Cuts. In 2015 she received a Boston Music Award for Best Singer-Songwriter. Her band plays regularly in the New England area and has opened for notable acts including the B-52s\, Juliana Hatfield\, The Motels\, Will Dailey\, and Rhett Miller. \nhttps://abbiebarrett.com/ \n\n\nAdi Sun: Singer-songwriter and Boston Music Awards nominee Adi Sun was the creative force behind alt-indie shoegaze band Phenomenal Sun\, whose appearance on the Boston music scene in 2017 brought five singles and multiple live performances including a semi-finals appearance at the 2019 Rock & Roll Rumble. In summer 2019 Adi Sun left Phenomenal Sun to pursue a solo career\, which kicked-off the release of her debut single “Bella Sun Lever” in July 2020. Adi Sun blends elements of alt-rock\, indie\, and psych-pop for a unique cocktail of emotion and intrigue. \nAdi Sun \n\n\nThe Quahogs are DelMonico on vocals and guitar\, Steve Donovan on lead guitar\, Mike Murdock on the drums and Joe Princepe on bass. “It’s difficult to define a band like The Quahogs by a genre\,” the band writes today. (We’re) equal parts tender and heavy rock.” \n“Providence rock act The Quahogs walk a fine line between a variety of styles. Some of their songs showcase the sensibility and intimacy often associated with folk. Some have a rough and rowdy garage rock vibe. Still others have a country twang.”-Rob Duguay\, Warwick Beacon \nThe Quahogs

SUMMARY:Four Piece Suit/The Eisenhower Brothers
DESCRIPTION:Four Piece Suit return to the Lizard Lounge with The Eisenhower Brothers Sept 4th!\n\n\n$10/$15 door \nDoors 7 \nFour Piece Suit is “a highball of sea-foam-soaked guitar and squalling tenor sax\, shaken—not stirred—with surf tangos\, Battista-era mambos\, beach blanket boppers\, spy music\, crime jazz\, and movie themes.” The predominantly instrumental group brings humor\, romance and a pulsing rhythm to the category-defying range musical styles they reinvent. Heard on soundtracks for Sex and the City and Dexter\, Four Piece Suit puts on a sizzling live show. \nThe sexy\, sophisticated\, yet tongue-in-cheek music of FOUR PIECE SUIT is frequently featured on the highly acclaimed HBO series Sex and the City\, Telemundo\, NBC’s Ed\, Dexter on CBS\, and cable shows such as Keeping Up with the Kardashians\, America’s Top Model\, Run’s House\, and many others. Film work includes Our Lips are Sealed (Olsen Twins)\, In the Weeds (Molly Ringwald)\, Stag (HBO films)\, Psycho Beach Party\, Along Came Polly (Jennifer Aniston)\, and others. \n \nFour Piece Suit \n\n\nFrom The early days \, when Milt was producing and playing “coloring” guitar on Dwight&Nicole’s first album\, the whole crew living in the house over Rear Window Studio\, Dwight and Milt noticed they had a natural “weave” when the two guitars played together. That’s a word Keith Richard uses to describe what happens with him and Ron Wood. It’s a sympatico conversation between guitars\, finishing each other’s thoughts\, creating a whole\, just a wee bit larger than the sum of its’ parts. Turns out this is kinda rare to find\, and when you do find another player who hears it the same way you do\, then you’re onto something. The instruments can be the same\, or different\, f’rinstance a guitarist and a drummer. It’s a feel thing. Hard to describe\, but you know it when you feel it. So for years\, these two\, now living in different states\, still get the weave going whenever they can. We can’t say exactly what’s gonna happen at an Eisenhower Bros. session\, uncharted territory\, but it’ll probably feel pretty good. Why Eisenhower? Well\, Milt’s long run with Four Piece Suit digs deep into influences from the 1950s-60s\, somebody called it Eisenhower music. That era has become even rosier\, as it represents a decency in public life that has become increasingly elusive. Plus one of the guys is named Dwight\, and guess what! …”Ike” had a brother named Milton. And by an even more unlikely auspicious synchronicity\, Milton Eisenhower\, during his tenure as president of Johns Hopkins University\, was a mentor to a fledgling Freshman\, playing bass in an Acid Jazz band (before the term had been coined) for strippers on Baltimore’s notorious “Block”… Milt Reder. So full circle. Could be good…ya never know.

SUMMARY:Tequila Sirens\, Daughter of the Vine\, Headband
DESCRIPTION:Tequila Sirens\, Daughter of the Vine and Headband live at the Lizard Lounge August 28th at 8 oclock!\n\n\n$15 adv/$18 door \nDoors 7 \nTequila Sirens formed in Somerville\, Massachusetts when Shaun Curran (keys\, vocals) and former Soft Pyramids frontman Dwight Hutchenson (guitar\, vocals) began collaborating remotely during the Covid lockdown. What started as a creative outlet during a difficult period eventually grew into a full band with the addition of Whit Love (bass) and Matt Masuzzo (drums). \nThe band’s earliest releases—the “Redesigner” EP in 2020 and “Fast Clouds” in 2021\, followed by the single “Shame” in 2022—showcased their evolving sound. Since 2022\, with their lineup finally solidified\, Tequila Sirens began writing and recording what would become their album “Imposters.” \nDrawing from a wide range of musical influences\, Tequila Sirens creates a sound built around organ\, guitars\, and electronic percussion. Their music balances memorable melodies with sonic textures that invite repeated listening\, with a direct and honest approach to songcraft. \n“Imposters” reflects both their position as outsiders in the Boston music scene and their experiences with imposter syndrome. Lyrically\, the band tackles anxiety\, grief\, family relationships\, and the absurdity of everyday life with genuine emotion and occasional dark humor. \nWith Curran and Hutchenson sharing vocal duties over Love’s bass and Masuzzo’s drums\, Tequila Sirens creates music that prioritizes feeling and atmosphere\, crafted by four musicians who are more interested in making something real than something perfect. \nTequila Sirens \n\n\nDaughter of the Vine is a Psych-pop-avant-garage band from Boston. The band consists of Margaret Garrett\, formerly of Mr. Airplane Man\, on guitar and vocals\, Gregg Porter\, of The Concerns\, on guitar and vocals\, Chris Lohring on bass\, and Kurt Davis\, formerly of Bullet Lavolta\, Kustomized and The Konks\, on drums. \nThe music sometimes glimmers\, sometimes drones\, is often melodic\, but always atmospheric. The goal is a sort of communal transcendence\, an escape from the here-and-now hum drum of our daily existence…Daughter of the Vine is taking off and you can come along. \nTheir full length l.p. Mystic Valley PKWY\, ( named after a road they travel to practice every week ) came out in 2024. New material is in the pipeline\, stay tuned! \nHypnotic and groovy\, calling to our higher angels\, Daughter of the Vine will lead you by the silver cord\, onward\, ever onward… \n \nDaughter of the Vine \n\n\nheadband – buzzard rockgrandmasters of verse and chorus\,authors of the 3 sweetest words ever spoke\, “I told you so” come see us while we still have hair. \nheadband

SUMMARY:Sinnet/JJ Slater/Savoir Faire
DESCRIPTION:Sinnet\, JJ Slater and Savoir Faire live at the Lizard Lounge August 23rd!\n\n\n$15 adv/$20 door \n \nArtisanal\, domesticated\, indie-rock-soul\, lovingly crafted by Aaron Spransy & pals in Island Town\, MA. Sinnet celebrates a love of songwriters like Paul Simon and Elliott Smith and combines it with the rhythm and swagger of bands like Spoon and Booker T & The MGs. Sinnet also pulls from the cupboard bits of Motown\, surf\, pop\, psychedelia and spookiness. \nThe band has collaborated with members of Lady Lupine\, Guster\, Karate\, The Promise Ring\, Pansy Division\, Rebuilder and more. Recently the band contributed a track to Starstruck: A Tribute To The Kinks\, a compilation featuring tracks by Wheatus\, The Fatal Flaw\, Plus Ones and more. \n \nhttp://www.sinnetsongs.com/ \nUsually when folks describe JJ Slater’s music\, words relate back to nature\, the outdoors\, the warm sun and the cool breeze. His UMASS Amherst psych-rock band Humble Digs was a mainstay at Stockbridge School of Agriculture events\, and ten years later tours are often routed with ulterior\, National Park-related motives. \nBased in New England\, he has toured much of the US\, playing festivals\, basements\, and club gigs\, at times opening for artists like Kat Wright\, NRBQ\, Johnny A\, and David Wax Museum. In 2022\, he completed a residency at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation\, where he wrote his new record “The Silver Key”. It was recorded with a Mass Cultural Council grant in 2023\, released at the end of 2024\, and you’ll find him touring and playing the full record in 2025. He’ll also be touring with his Americana-Blues road-dog project Signature Dish\, co-fronting the band with partner Lexi Weege and lending his songs to a dynamic\, soul-journey set. \nhttps://www.jjslatermusic.com/ \n \nWith a voice straight out of the jazz age\, Savoir Faire brings the modern existential crisis into a realm of retro-noir. Born to an American mother and an Iranian father\, Savoir Faire was absorbing the influences of everything from classic 60s rock to Persian pop at an early age. It was during her pre-teen years that she was inspired by the 90s wave of female songwriters to pick up the guitar. Eventually\, she studied jazz guitar in college\, where she would discover the duets of Joe Pass and Ella Fitzgerald. The artistry of both musicians would greatly influence Savoir Faire’s approach to both guitar and voice. She would spend years performing as a lounge singer and jazz guitarist before adding the last few ingredients that would form the aesthetic of Savoir Faire: lush and syrupy vocals\, biting lyricism\, and searing guitar parts that float between the genres of jazz\, rock\, and chamber pop. The result is a Lynchian rumination on the present in the debut album Hopeless Nostalgic\, combining wistful nostalgia and modern rage to answer the question “What if a torch singer had a Riot Grrl heart?” \nSavoir Faire
