SUMMARY:Ali McGuirk
DESCRIPTION:Soulful influenced singer songwriter Ali McGuirk returns to the Lizard Lounge June 6th\n\n\n$20 adv/$25 door \n \nBlending classic soul power with a folk songwriter lyricism\, New England’s Ali McGuirk has the rare ability to silence a room with just a few words of a song. With a voice that is raw and sultry and a style rooted in improvisation\, her sets are a hypnotic and intimate journey. \nOn her Signature Sounds Recordings debut ’Til It’s Gone\, McGuirk delivers a sublime set of songs that pairs her trademark soul sound with rootsy turns and raw rock ‘n’ roll detours. The album landed on the Boston Globe’s Top 50 Albums list for 2022. Consequence of Sound raved\, “‘All Back’ feels like it could exist somewhere outside of space and time– it could be on a record in the background of a party in a 1970s bungalow\, or it could be on your Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify. Either way\, it’s a great listen.” \nMcGuirk co-produced ‘Til It’s Gone with Jonah Tolchin (a star singer-songwriter in his own right) and a set of session legends: Little Feat guitarist/mandolinist Fred Tackett\, organist Larry Goldings (James Taylor\, Norah Jones)\, singer Valerie Pinkston (Ray Charles\, Luther Vandross)\, percussionist Lenny Castro (Stevie Nicks\, Stevie Wonder). They provided the astounding chops\, but the true magic of the album comes from McGuirk’s singular voice as both singer and songwriter. The nine tracks run from intimate introspection to wider meditations on oppression and justice\, from tough r&b and tender soul to big rock guitar and twangy folk. And McGuirk’s voice – bold\, buttery\, spellbinding – carries each song to the next til they’re gone. \nAli McGuirk

SUMMARY:Clamb/Coulibaly Trio
DESCRIPTION:Clamb live at the Lizard Lounge June 11th with the Coulibaly Trio at 8 oclock!\n\n\nEvent is 21+$15/$20 \n \n\n\nCLAMB was born out of a Dadaist desire to create music free from societal norms of perfection. They dig deep into the groove of soulful American music from the infinite James Brown and Alice Coltrane to the aether of seventies European krautrock pioneers like Cluster and Harmonia to patiently sketch foreign landscapes from the ground up. Clamb are devoted to keeping an attitude of acceptance in their largely-improvised songs\, choosing a direction and exploring its corners and nuances to tell stories without words. \nClamb’s tonal palette features Peter Danilchuk’s synths blissfully wiggling through the air\, Jameson Stewart’s mythical gold-glitter-encrusted fretless bass sending terrestrial energy rippling through a rogue’s gallery of cheap pedals\, Joshua Merhar’s playful drumming that constantly eggs the band onward to new hemispheres of groove\, and in 2022 Clamb introduced guitar hero and best friend Sam Crawford whose tonal character and improvisational voice have propelled the band’s ensemble playing further into the fever-dream-realm than ever expected. Clamb hopes they have cornered the market on the Venn diagram intersection of 60s psych nerds raised on Soft Machine Volume 2 and their kids who have spent the past decade gorging on Brainfeeder and Meshuggah. It is Clamb’s distinct wish that each performance function as a Polaroid of the exact moment of its creation\, never to be repeated quite the same way ever again\, remaining both pensive yet hard-grooving all the same. \n\n\nImad Coulibaly is an independent artist hailing from Boston\, Massachusetts. He started playing drums at the age of 4 years old. Being surrounded by music at home and in church\, Imad became passionate about music. He kick started his music career after winning the Umass Amherst Jazz Festival for “ Best Jazz Trio” and opening for the Chris Potter Quartet. Imad Coulibaly currently plays in his jazz/fusion hip hop group Soul Space. He is also a live/session and touring drummer working with artists such as Rugawd\, Martin Gonzalez\, David Mrakpor\, King Chino\, Dave Powell\, Rob Araujo and Vooo. Imad’s primary focus is on live/session and touring gigs as well as education in music to inspire drummers of all ages and background

SUMMARY:The Lo-I (Formerly Morning is Rising) Album Release/Justice Cow/Field Day
DESCRIPTION:The Lo-I (Formerly Morning is Rising) clebrate the release of “Live at the Burren and Lizard Lounge” with Field Day & Justice Cow June 12th\n\n\n$15 adv/$20 door \nDoors at 7 \nMorning Is Rising are Chloe V. Green (Vocals\, Bass\, Guitar) and Iarla Ó hAllmhuráin (Vocals\, Guitar\, Bass). Their songs comprise tight vocal harmonies atop driving rhythms\, drawing inspiration from alternative guitar/new wave\, classic folk-rock\, and electro-pop. Longtime songwriters and performers with deep individual catalogs to draw on\, they decided to join forces and songbooks in 2021 and start a band. This is their second Lizard Lounge show\, and will serve as a release party for their new live record “Live at The Burren & Lizard Lounge”. They will be joined by Chuck Hargreaves of Field Day on drums. \nMorning is Rising \n\n\nJustice Cow\, the musical alias of Jessica Kion\, is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter whose latest album delves deeply into personal loss and emotional vulnerability. Growing up surrounded by a musical family\, Jessica’s early exposure to music laid the foundation for her artistic journey. Her identity as an artist started taking shape during her time at Berklee College of Music when she was exposed to and inspired by artists like Regina Spektor and Sufjan Stevens. \nHer latest album\, “my dad died” is a poignant exploration of her father’s death. The writing process began as memories of her father flooded back\, prompting her to capture these fleeting moments as musical vignettes. Drawing inspiration from Madi Diaz’s “History of a Feeling”\, Sufjan Stevens’ “Carrie & Lowell” and Mount Eerie’s “A Crow Looked at Me\,” Jessica’s album is a raw and honest reflection of her grief and memories. \nJustice Cow’s music blends acoustic foundations with rich\, full-band arrangements\, creating a sound that is both intimate and expansive. Her ability to transform deeply personal experiences into universally resonant art makes her a compelling and authentic voice in contemporary music. \nJustice Cow \n \n\n\nField Day formed proverbially\, in a basement\, and unexpectedly\, when its members were well into middle age. Joan Anderman was a neophyte\, having left her longtime post as rock critic at The Boston Globe and set out to become a songwriter. Her former Globe colleague Dan Zedek\, veteran of numerous college bands\, was sitting on a stash of songs written in his head while riding the train to work. The band’s original drummer John Kehe offered his gear-filled basement for weekend song circles. The chemistry was potent. These songs and these songwriters belonged together. With the addition of bassist Iarla Ó hAllmhuráin and drummer Chuck Hargreaves\, Field Day has become an unlikely upstart on the Boston club scene\, playing rock music with scrappy hooks\, dreamy harmonies\, and irrepressible spirit. \n \nField Day

SUMMARY:Daniel Miller & The High Life/Kier Byrnes & The Kettle Burners
DESCRIPTION:Daniel Miller & The High Life and Kier Byrnes & The Kettle Burners live at the Lizard Lounge June 13th!\n\n\n$20/$25 Door \nDoors 8 \nDaniel Miller is a singer-songwriter with a penchant for centering his music on locales that inspire him. “My goal is to take a region that I love and write songs about that place. My focus isn’t on limiting a record to fit into a specific bin on a store shelf; it’s to tell a story.” Born and raised in Knoxville\, TN and currently living outside of Boston\, MA\, Daniel has been writing songs based off of his experiences on the road for the past twenty years. Those songs have provided Daniel and his country-rock touring band\, The High Life\, the opportunity to open for various national touring acts in some of America’s most beloved performance venues. \n \nDaniel Miller and the High Life \n\n\nKier Byrnes & The Kettle Burners are a high-octane blend of face-melting accordion and chicken pickin’ electric guitar. Winners of a New England Music Award for “Americana Act of the Year”\, the Kettle Burners have performed at multiple festivals and even shared some bills with a few national acts (Willie Nelson\, Old Crow Medicine Show\, Hank Williams Jr.\, John Mellencamp\, The Mavericks and Fastball). \nKier Byrnes\, frontman of the group\, has been all over the globe thanks to music; touring in over 17 countries. He has performed in the Middle East for the troops\, at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville\, and a Johnny Cash-style gig at a Belgian prison. At a private show for Jim Beam Whiskeys in Clermont\, Kentucky\, Byrnes and his band were rewarded with a personal tour of the distillery by none other than the great grandson (and Master Distiller) of Jim Beam. \nKier Byrnes is joined by The Kettle Burners (Jason McGorty\, Monica Sager\, Joe Miller\, Dan DiBacco & Brian Lilienthal); a spirited country band that effortlessly merges the rootsy sounds of traditional country music with the enchanting melodies of Irish folk. Their heartfelt performances weave stories of love\, loss\, and life’s trials with an irresistible blend of twangy guitars\, lively bass\, driving drums and the soulful warmth of accordion. With their infectious energy and undeniable chemistry on stage\, these musicians create an immersive musical experience of whiskey-soaked ballads and foot-stomping jigs. \nKier Byrnes and the Kettle Burners

SUMMARY:Tyler Berd/Ruby Grove/A Day Without Love
DESCRIPTION:Tyler Berd\, Ruby Grove and A Day Without Love live at the Lizard Lounge June 18th!\n\n\n$12 adv/$15 door \nDoors at 7 \n \nTyler berdfronts the band bellwire and has toured his solo act around the country\, performing sad\, funny songs on nylon-string guitar. His solo act is sly and surreal\, and owes a lot to Neil Young\, Jonathan Richman\, and the poetry of Charles Simic. He can do a tight 20 minutes or a long-winded 3 hours. \n“Crafty inventive songs infused with humor\, wit and absurdity” – La Crosse Tribune \n“Troubadour folk meets introspective bedroom pop in a collision of styles and expectations.” – Independent Clauses \n\n\nBoston-based band Ruby Grove (2022- now) is a New England Music Award-nominated multi-genre indie alternative musical project primarily inspired by trip-hop\, soul\, indietronica\, and indie rock/pop. Ruby Grove’s core driving force is to soothe anxious hearts and minds during the post-pandemic era\, create an alternately funky\, soulful\, and mystical atmosphere\, and aim for the formation of new genres through multi- genre synthesis madness\, which is reflected in the band’s diverse sonic palette and focuses. Ken Sears of If It’s Too Loud said of Ruby Grove\, “Nothing else in the city sounds anything like Ruby Grove…almost impossibly infectious”. \nLead singer and keyboardist Melissa Nilles brings an eclectic background to Ruby Grove from years of fronting indie and cover bands in California (her home state)\, New York\, Japan\, and Massachusetts\, including Boston’s art/alternative rock project Miele (2014-2020). Nilles’s vocal style was described by the Boston Survival Guide as “travelling effortlessly through many moods… forceful and determined\, melancholy and dreamy\, exotic and magical”. Bassist and backup vocalist Cedric Lamour of Brockton\, MA hails from previous projects Miele and Teardrop Tank as well as the Bridgewater State Jazz Ensemble\, and brings a masterful\, dynamic\, and groove-based rhythm bass to the band. Ruby Grove also includes talented newcomers Sergio Romero from Delaware on guitar and Reed Farhat from New Hampshire on drums. \n \nRuby Grove \n\n\nA Day Without Love is  the brainchild of multi-genre and multi-disciplinary creator\, Brian Walker\, A Day Without Love is on a mission to spread good vibes and help others rise above their own struggles.  \nA Day Without Love began in 2013 after experiencing homelessness for a short period of time in 2013. The words “A Day Without Love” came from a poem that Brian wrote after witnessing and stopping domestic abuse on his college campus. The idea of a music project started in 2013\, when Walker decided he wanted to write music with more intention.  \nIn 2015\, Walker’s bandmates departed\, leaving A Day Without Love as a solo folk punk project. Undeterred\, Brian Walker signed to Sounds and Tones Records and began work on his first album\, Solace which he completed the following year. His first pressing sold out\, and he began touring the south via Megabus and through the support of various friends.  \nA Day Without Love became a four piece again in 2023\, writing new music and releasing Tour is Not a Road Trip and recording the video for the album’s lead single “DIY or Die.” A Day Without Love re-launched their Patreon to spread their wisdom gathered on the road and behind the scenes footage of upcoming projects. The band has continued to tour and record music as Walker searches the world to spread wisdom\, joy\, happiness and the willingness for others to rise above their own struggles. A Day Without Love wants everyone to chase their dream and be the best version of themselves no matter what sets them behind.

SUMMARY:Britt Connors/Savoir Faire
DESCRIPTION:Britt Connors and Savoir Faire live at the Lizard Lounge June 20th!\n\n\n$20 adv/$25 door \nDoors 8 \nWith a voice straight out of the jazz age\, Savoir Faire brings the modern existential crisis into a realm of retro-noir. Studying jazz guitar in college\, Savoir Faire soon discovered the duets of Joe Pass and Ella Fitzgerald\, shaping her approach to both harmonic and melodic lines on guitar and voice. She spent years performing as a lounge singer and jazz guitarist before adding the last few ingredients that would form the aesthetic of Savoir Faire: the influence of dramatic 60s noir and 90s alternative rock. With lush and syrupy vocals\, biting lyricism\, and searing guitar parts that hint at her Persian heritage\, Savoir Faire invites listeners to enter a world of wistful nostalgia and modern rage. \nSavoir Faire \n \n\n\nBritt Connors grew up surrounded by music of all kinds: the folk\, rock\, and jazz of her parents\, the classical of her grandparents\, and the pop of 80’s and 90’s radio. As such\, the music she writes and plays is as eclectic as her background. After graduating from Ithaca College with a degree in vocal performance and teaching voice lessons for a year\, she moved to Somerville\, MA with the sole purpose of learning guitar\, crafting her first songs\, and finding her place in the Boston music scene. Along the way\, she met and married celebrated drummer Mike Connors\, who has played in her band since 2008. Her three albums\, The Bad Side of Good (released under her former name of Britt Sawdon)\, Warmer Season (under Britt Connors and Bourbon Renewal)\, and Longitude have celebrated her wide-ranging interests and influences\, slipping nimbly and authentically between soulful ballads\, pop-rock\, and gospel-infused Americana. Her fourth work\, a 6-song EP Exhale was released November 1st\, 2024. The title cut\, a whirling ¾ time rocking ballad with cello by Bethany Weiman reflects some of her influences\, from Bonnie Raitt to Deb Talan and from Aimee Mann to Jason Isbell. Her stellar band of Boston greats\, including Andrew Stern (guitar)\, Ed Lucie (bass)\, James Rohr (keys)\, and horn section led by Jerry Sabatini (trumpet) is featured on each track. When she’s not playing and singing\, Britt can be found teaching Pilates in the restored carriage house she shares in Concord\, MA with Mike and Ringo the Wonder-Cat \nhttps://www.brittconnors.com/

DESCRIPTION:Three great songwriters on one bill at the Lizard Lounge June 26th with Emily Havialnd\, Erin Hogan and Jacqui Armbruster!\n\n\n$15 adv/$18 door \n \nErin Hogan \nGrowing up in Grafton\, WI\, Erin’s certainty of a life in music began at age 5. Performing and working on music in churches\, school musicals\, youth choirs\, and bands through her adolescence fostered a love of harmonizing\, collaborating\, and listening deeply to others. Music and harmony inevitably became the lens through which she could view the world. \nWhile Erin’s technical roots as a vocalist are in the western classical tradition earning degrees in vocal performance from DePaul University School of Music (BM ‘17) and Boston University (MM ‘23)\, her curiosity and passion for musical connection has led to an eclectic collection of musical experiences\, including collaborations with musicians across genres in opera\, chamber\, early\, and sacred music\, as well as jazz\, folk\, and world music. Alongside her studies\, her participation in the Silkroad Ensemble Global Musician Workshop has greatly inspired her musical path\, sharing the stage with Mike Block\, Jamey Haddad\, Maeve Gilchrist\, and Abeer Nahme\, as well as musicians from around the world. \nHer diverse interests have brought her to sing at venues and festivals such as Club Passim\, The Rockwell Theater (Cambridge\, MA)\, NEC’s Jordan Hall\, Birdland Jazz Club (NYC)\, Graveside Variety (Woodstock\, NY)\, and Boston Celtic Music Festival. As a highly sought after ensemble singer\, she frequently sings with The Advent Choir\, Nightingale Vocal Ensemble\, Dreamglow\, and various churches across New England. Looking ahead\, Erin is creating space to perform and record her original music and collaboration with Celtic guitarist Adam Hendey. Alongside her creative endeavors\, she is building a private voice studio and teaching\, Vocal Harmony and Private Voice Lessons at Club Passim School of Music. She will soon be launching a patreon with exclusive content and monthly offerings. In addition to her musical interests\, meditation and mindfulness practices have become essential to Erin’s artistry and wellness. As an extension of her practice\, she organizes and hosts Kindred\, a monthly gathering at the intersection of mindfulness and the arts in partnership with PCUSA and Vivid Oblivion\, a multi-purpose interdisciplinary arts venue in Cambridge\, MA. Learn more about Kindred here. \n \nEmily Haviland \nEmily Haviland’s musical journey is deeply rooted in the vibrant tapestry of the Greater Boston music scene\, where she has flourished for nearly a decade. A proud alumna of Berklee College of Music\, Emily’s academic pursuits led her through the intricate corridors of americana-fiddle performance\, where she explored the rich tapestry of American Roots music and its tumultuous history. Along with that\, she dual-majored in music therapy\, where she delved into the profound impact of music on the human psyche. \nEmily Haviland’s debut album\, “Not Who You Think\,” released in February 2024\, epitomizes her unyielding commitment to pushing artistic boundaries. In both her performing style and songwriting\, Emily weaves together threads of authenticity and innovation\, creating an auditory experience that captivates and resonates deeply with her audience. Renowned fiddler Darol Anger aptly describes her as the “Realest Deal in a long time\,” praising her genuine voice\, profound reflections\, and songs that boldly articulate the unspoken truths we all harbor. “Real voice\, real thoughts\, real songs that say – with pungent power – what everyone’s really thinking. Glad to welcome her work into the world.” \nEmily Haviland has shared the stage alongside illustrious contemporaries such as Aoife O’Donovan\, Margo Price\, Twisted Pine\, Darol Anger\, the late Emy Phelps\, Bruce Molsky\, Abigail Lapell\, and Rachel Sumner. In the realm of contemporary music\, Emily Haviland stands as a beacon of authenticity and creativity\, leaving an indelible mark on hearts and minds alike. \n \n\n\nJacqui Armbruster \nJacqui Armbruster is a dynamic multi-instrumentalist\, singer\, songwriter\, and improviser from Allentown\, PA. An active performer in the Greater Boston area\, Jacqui can be found in a wide array of musical settings ranging from concert halls to house concerts. SUMMARY:The Blue Ribbons/Miriam
DESCRIPTION:The Blue Ribbons return to the Lizard Lounge June 28th with Miriam!\n\n\n$15/$20 \nDoors 8 \n \n“The Blue Ribbons’ latest album\, 2024’s “Forever\, But Not For Long\,” has plenty of pop hooks. Or rather\, it had plenty of them before the band took sledgehammers and scalpels to most of the pretty bits. \n“It took a while to get the bones of some of the tunes down just so we could break them\,” bandleader James Rohr told Herald with a laugh. \nLocal champs the Blue Ribbons are a pop band in the same way that the Beatles or Steely Dan or Television are pop bands in that they like pop but “aren’t too precious about the songs\,” Rohr said. \nJed Gottleib – Boston Herald \n \nThe Blue Ribbons \nIn 2009\, when multi-award-winning singer-songwriters Amy Fairchild and Carla Ryder decided to combine their voices and join forces to start a band\, MIRIAM was born. They recruited the coveted multi-instrumentalist and songwriter\, Andy Santospago\, whose music traverses a long and winding road from classical\, jazz\, acoustic finger style\, Latin\, bluegrass and folk\, and rock. Over the next few years\, they would pluck up talented drummer about town Ian McMillan and monster bass player Jeff St. Pierre. The group garnered a loyal following by playing a monthly residency the last Tuesday of each month at Toad in Porter Square (Cambridge\, MA) cultivating a sound and creating true alchemy among them. They have been described as a rollickin’ blend of Americana-infused countrified roots-rock with the focus on the tight harmonies\, catchy songs and superb playing….at times playful\, at times moody. Mostly it’s boot-stompin\,’ lead vocal swappin’\, ass-kickin’ fun. Steve Morse\, former critic of 30 years at The Boston Globe says\, ” Music for the sheer pleasure of it… effervescent harmonies and melodic nirvana.” \nMiriam

SUMMARY:Peter Baldrachi/Todd Thibaud Band
DESCRIPTION:Peter Baldrachi and Todd Thibaud Band live at the Lizard Lounge July 3rd at 8pm!\n\n\n$15 adv/$20 door \nDoors at 7 \n \nPeter Baldrachi is back\, blending energetic rhythms\, catchy melodies and roots-inspired sounds. Since his debut in 2006\, Baldrachi has built an impressive catalog\, releasing four albums\, two EPs\, and numerous singles\, showing his dedication to crafting a distinctive sound. His forthcoming album\, “Nothing’s Promised\,” explores the many of the influences that have shaped his music. The album is packed with infectious hooks\, introspective lyrics\, and a dynamic band that highlights his songwriting. \nPeter Baldrachi \n \n\n\n“…it would be a mistake to peg him as merely a sum of those who came before him” \n– No Depression \n“His roots-based music and tremendous sense of melody grab your attention; his perceptive and intelligent lyrics give his songs exceptional depth.” \n– Twangville \n“…a terrific\, endlessly listenable album that in a perfect world – or even an imperfect one – deserves to make Thibaud a star.” \n– The Boston Herald \nTodd Thibaud is a Vermont born\, Boston based Singer-Songwriter who’s songs are a slice of what life is really like…the pains and pleasures\, love lost and life reborn. Using songwriters like Elvis Costello\, Neil Finn\, Johnny Cash and John Hiatt for inspiration\, Thibaud has built a sound that is entirely his own. His music is meshed with elements of Americana\, Folk\, Country and Roots Pop Rock\, making it seem at once familiar and new. After fronting his band\, “Courage Brothers” and releasing two independent records in the early ‘90’s (Something Strong & Wood)\, Thibaud went solo and recorded two critically lauded albums for Doolittle Records (now New West Records)\, 1997’s “Favorite Waste of Time” (produced by Bostonian musician Kevin Salem) and 1999’s “Little Mystery” (Co-produced with Jim Scott: Wilco\, Crowded House\, Kathleen Edwards). In addition to various live recordings and DVD’s he’s since released several additional studio recordings\, including 2002’s “Squash”\, 2005’s “Northern Skies” (Both produced by Adam Steinberg- Patty Griffin\, Dixie Chicks) and 2009’s “Broken”. You’ve probably heard Todd even if you haven’t listened to one of his albums or attended his buoyant\, high-energy shows. His songs are regularly featured on TV\, where ESPN especially has taken Todd’s straight and true art to heart\, and most recently on episodes of NCIS and Justified. His work has also appeared in films\, such as John Favreau’s Love & Sex. Plus\, the Boston-area singer and picker has been played on Americana radio since the early ‘90s. Thibaud’s most recent album\, “Hill West” (Produced by Ed Valauskas\, Juliana Hatfield\, Gravel Pit)\, was released in the spring of 2019. His project\, Water and Sand\, with fellow singer/songwriter\, Kim Taylor\, released their debut album in early 2016\, their follow up\, “Catching Light” in 2019\, and their most recent\, “City Crows” in 2023. He tours regularly throughout Europe in both full band and acoustic formats\, and performs regionally at home in the U.S. Check out Todd’s album “Waterfall” on SoundCloud: \nhttps://soundcloud.com/toddthibaud/sets/waterfall

SUMMARY:Audrey Pearl/Julia Randal/Alex Hoskyns
DESCRIPTION:Audrey Pearl\, Julia Randal and Alex Hoskyns live at the Lizard Lounge July 5th!\n\n\n$15 adv/$20 door \nDoors at 8 \n \nAudrey Pearl writes songs the same way she moves through life- with her eyes wide open and her heart on her sleeve. Drawing upon her upbringing in the Green Mountains of Vermont\, the Berklee-graduate’s deeply nostalgic writing highlights her honey-toned vocals and knack for vivid\, haunting imagery. \n \nAudrey’s EP Long Term Plans\, which was released in July 2024\, showcases her range as a writer and musician- deftly weaving together tender indie folk\, jangly alt rock\, and lush bedroom pop. While her inventive songwriting and captivating performances have earned comparisons to acclaimed artists such as Phoebe Bridgers\, Japanese Breakfast\, and Adrianne Lenker\, Audrey is carving out a space all her own as a formidable writer\, performer\, and storyteller in the indie scene. \n \nhttps://audreypearlmusic.com/ \n\n\nA few years ago while scrolling on social media\, singer-songwriter Julia Randall came across a filter called “What niche musical subgenre are you?” On the third or fourth try\, she got “forest elf jazz.” As it happens\, that result encapsulates Julia’s music perfectly. \nHer sound is whimsical and nostalgic\, drawing on jazz\, soul\, and folk traditions and showcasing her soothing\, soaring vocals. Although she is usually seated at the piano or plucking a six-stringed ukulele\, Julia’s primary instrument is her pen: her award-winning songwriting tackles big\, often existential questions with razor-sharp clarity and wit. \nOn May 2nd she released her debut album\, Rom-Com Industrial Complex\, which explores the rift between the expectations and reality of romance across 14 clever and lushly orchestrated tracks. Julia is based in Burlington\, Vermont. \n \nhttps://www.instagram.com/juliarandallmusic/ \n\n\nAlex Hoskyns blends controlled smokey vocal textures with lyrical storytelling to express love\, loss\, and other problems faced throughout her young life. Inspired vocally by the soul of Janis Joplin\, Ray Charles\, Susan Tedeschi\, and Nina Simone\, she can appreciate a good sultry folk ballad just as much as a screaming funk song with full horns. \nThis singer songwriter from Boston\, Massachusetts performs her original music in venues and festivals around boston\, in addition to soloing with the following notable groups: Berklee Tower Of Power Ensemble\, Berkalit\, Point of Departure\, Berklee Singers Night\, Les Arts Berklee Showcase at Palaude les Arts (Val Spain). \n \nhttps://www.alexhoskyns.com/
