SUMMARY:The Lo-I / Miss Christine / See You At Rogers
DESCRIPTION:Rock out with The Lo-I\, Miss Christine\, and See You At Rogers in an unforgettable live music experience live at the Lizard Lounge Jan 17th!\n\n\n$18/$23 door \nDoor 7 \n \nThe Lo-i (formerly Morning Is Rising) are Chloe V. Green (Vocals\, Bass\, Guitar) and Iarla Ó hAllmhuráin (Vocals\, Guitar\, Bass) with Chuck Hargreaves (Drums). Longtime songwriters and performers with a deep collective catalog of songs\, they formed The Lo-i to write new songs and refashion their old ones around driving rhythms and tight vocal harmonies\, drawing from folk-rock\, post-punk and soul. \nTheir most recent release is “Live at The Burren & Lizard Lounge”. \n \nThe Lo-i \n\n\nChristine Moad (they/them)\, a bassist and singer-songwriter recording under the moniker Miss Christine\, blends indie rock with blues and soul influences\, delivered with a defiant punk attitude to open listeners’ minds to possibilities beyond the gender and sexual binary. Their exploration of their own genderqueer and asexual identity inspires their lyrics\, resulting in songs that are both intensely personal while simultaneously challenging the harmful stereotypes and expectations associated with gender and sexuality. \nMiss Christine released their debut solo album\, “Conversion”\, in 2019 and their sophomore album\, “Bittersweet” in 2023. \nhttps://www.misschristinemusic.comhttps://misschristinemusic.bandcamp.com@misschristinemusic \n\n\nBorn from a shared love for catchy rock songs\, See You At Rogers blends driving riffs with infectious hooks to create their punk-tinted power-pop sonic fingerprint. See You At Rogers is Clay\, Olivia\, Alyssa\, Gavin\, and Daniel. \nhttps://seeyouatrogers.bandcamp.com/@seeyouatrogers

SUMMARY:Club d'Elf featuring Duke Levine and Kevin Barry
DESCRIPTION:Club d’Elf returns to the Lizard Lounge with special guests Duke Levine and Kevin Barry Jan 30th\n\n\nEvent is 21+ \n$35 GA \n$90 reserved table \nDoors 6:30 \nWhat begins as a groove in Club d’Elf’s world often becomes a doorway into someplace older\, stranger and unshackled by time. The band has spent twenty seven years helping audiences lose track of time with its shape-shifting fusion of Moroccan trance\, dub\, electronica\, jazz and improvised funk. Built around bassist and composer Mike Rivard\, each performance features a rotating cast drawn from Boston\, New York and beyond\, creating a constantly shifting ecosystem where trance forms the central core of the band’s aesthetic. Under longtime member and Casablanca native Brahim Fribgane\, the group absorbed Moroccan trance music deeply into its DNA. Fribgane passed away in early 2024\, but his spirit remains embedded in the band’s sound\, especially through Rivard’s commanding sintir work\, learned under the guidance of Fribgane and Gnawa masters Hassan Hakmoun and Mahmoud Guinia. \nTheir new album\, Loon and Thrush (due out 4/10/26)\, recorded entirely live in the studio with minimal overdubs\, channels that lineage into a raw\, improvisatory flight. While largely built on Rivard originals\, the album continues the band’s tradition of honoring key influences\, offering Moroccan-infused takes on Grateful Dead classics “Bird Song” and “New Speedway Boogie.” The overarching theme of the record is “flight” itself — the avian imagery of the title track\, the Dead’s celestial wanderings\, and the enduring presence of Fribgane\, whose spirit continues to guide the music from beyond. \nDuke Levine\,Kevin Barry\, Paul Schultheis\, Mister Rourke\, Mike Rivard Dean Johnston \nhttps://clubdelf.com/

SUMMARY:Mr Ho's Orchestrotica
DESCRIPTION:Mr Ho’s Orchestrotica live at the Lizard Lounge February 5th at 8 pm\n\n\nIn the same way a chef de cuisine runs a kitchen\, percussionist Brian O’Neill leads a team of five musical creators who deftly collaborate on instruments foreign and domestic to form modernist delicacies for hungry\, curious listeners. From the high arts of jazz and chamber music to adaptations of mid-century exotica and pop art\, the quintet version of Mr. Ho’s Orchestrotica renders O’Neill’s original compositions and curious adaptions of Bach\, Gershwin\, Shostakovich and John Adams into cinematic\, layered music for armchair travelers ready to journey off road. “Engagingly unique”—Boston Globe While the quintet eschews most of the musical forms\, rhythms\, and styles of the 1950s exotica sound that inspired O’Neill\, it fully embraces the unique genre’s love of escapism\, whether through deliberate\, out-of-context use of global sounds or through jazz improvisation that doesn’t swing and deliberately imitates the rhythm of a skipping record. On the listener’s plate might be equal parts scratch and sniff\, bongos with a fugue\, and a cat fight at a piano recital. On the stage\, the ensemble skillfully negotiates detailed compositions and arrangements of classical works while relying on listening and instinct to drive passionate improvisation. The quintet has delighted ears across the US and internationally and was awarded a $15\,000 touring grant from SouthArts’ JazzRoad Tours program in 2024. “If John Zorn is an exotica Picasso\, O’Neill is his Georges-Braque counterpart in cubism’s transposition to music.” –AllAboutJazz \n \nThe sound of the Orchestrotica’s quintet also exists in two albums that help form the larger Exotica for Modern Living Series\, which launched with the group’s big band ensemble performing its transcriptions of the lost music of Esquivel. A year later\, the quintet released Third River Rangoon\, its first interpretation of exotica as a mélange of jazz\, classical\, and world music. This sound matured with the band’s sophomore recording\, Where Here Meets There\, a dichotomous album that introduced even more adventuresome original music on its A-side (“Music from Here”) and the group’s most sophisticated adaptations to date on its B-side (“Music from There”)\, the latter including its popular arrangements of Gershwin’s three “Piano Preludes.” The series has also been lauded for its unique mid-century modern-inspired artwork\, and audiophile-grade production quality. In addition to O’Neill’s vibraphone and hand percussion\, the quintet features Geni Skendo’s concert flute\, bass flute\, contrabass flute\, and shakuhachi; the highly stylized classical/jazz bassist Mike Harrist; Tev Stevig on the rare trio of oud\, cümbüş\, and resonator guitar; and Jeremy Smith who referees the ensemble’s interactions and improvisations using a bounty of percussion from marching machines to Arabic frame drums. All the musicians are teaching artists\, and the ensemble provides educational programs at the primary school\, high school\, and collegiate levels. “No other band on the planet sounds anything remotely like Mr. Ho’s Orchestrotica”—Lucid Culture \n \nMr Ho’s Orchestrotica

SUMMARY:Otis Grove featuring Mister Rourke!
DESCRIPTION:Otis Grove return to the Lizard Lounge with special guest Mister Rourke on Feb 6th at 8 o’clock!\n\n\n$15/$20 door \nDoors 7 \nMust be 21+ \nOtis Grove began as a collective experiment in crossing the traditional organ jazz sound with funk\, hip-hop\, and rock tones. It was the beginning of a sonic realization based in groove and free in improvisation\, yet rooted in songwriting and melodic structure. In early 2004\, on the heels of their self-titled debut album\, the band began spreading their sound to clubs around the New England area. The music\, which has since evolved into a unique blend of aggressive rock n’ roll and high-intensity organ funk (some fans have dubbed their genre ‘Runk’- a mixture of rock and funk)\, pays tribute to the masters while consistently pushing itself in new directions. Performer Magazine writer Sam Merrick described it as “a monstrous funk groove that probably would have sent Godzilla running had he been in the neighborhood.” \n \nWhile an organ-based power trio at it’s core\, Otis Grove likes to keep it spicy by frequently collaborating with other musicians. Special guests who have joined the band for performances and recordings include Oteil Burbridge\, Mr. Lif\, Melvin Sparks\, Akrobatik\, Ryan Montbleau\, Jesse Dee\, The Akashic Horns\, Garrett Sayers\, Tim Palmieri\, Amy Bellamy\, Aaron Bellamy\, Bill Carbone\, Beau Sasser\, Johnny Trama\, Danny Mayer…… and many more. \n \nOtis Grove

SUMMARY:HELLBENDER and Agent Lockhart Live at the Lizard Lounge!
DESCRIPTION:Boston Music Award winner Jared Sims returns with HELLBENDER r to the Lizard Lounge Feb 12th along with Agent Lockhart!\n\n\nHELLBENDER bends jazz until it snaps. Built on the raw electricity of classic fusion records like Bitches Brew\, the band channels that brand of chaos through a sharper\, more intentional compositional lens. Ambient sounds are juxtaposed with tough drum beats and a ton of mixed meters. There isn’t endless soloing for its own sake—the band has a collective sound that resonates. \nThe players are conservatory-trained musicians who grew up on classic rock riffs as much as real books. The intention is to bring precision in the music without losing the danger. Amplified jazz\, electric saxophone with guitar pedals\, aggressive grooves\, and tightly forged forms collide\, blurring the line between headbanging and deep listening. Hellbender isn’t resurrecting fusion—they are weaponizing it. \nJared Sims\, electric sax/pedalsAndrew Stern\, guitarJames Rohr\, keysMarc Friedman\, bassRandy Wooten\, drums \n \nJared Sims \n\n\nAgent Lockhart is led by guitar maestro Jeffery Lockhart. \nAs a son of of Hy Lockhart who has played with Clark Terry\, Jimmy Heath and Sam Rivers\, Jeff was around the best jazz company from his childhood. \nHe has hold ongoing Guitar positions with Meshell Ndegeocello\, Mike Clark and Bill Summers (both of the Headhunters)\, the Sam Kininger Band\, Al Evans of Soulive and Play On Brother Band\, Lettuce\, and Richie Goods of Nuclear Fusion. Jeff has shared the stage with Berklee professors Jetro DaSilva (Whitney Houston)\, Gabrielle Goodman (Chaka Khan)\, and Terri Lynn Carrington (Dizzy Gillespie). He has also performed with Cindy Blackman\, Drummer (Carlos Santana\, Lenny Kravitz) and more recently with Bassist Abe Laboriel\, Sr. \nJeff´s musical career has spanned from being the Musical Director for Brian McKnight\, Vocalist and Berklee Professor and Walter Beasley\, Saxophone\, to performing with LaVern Baker\, Melba Moore\, Gerald Levert\, Kelly Price\, and Patrice Rushen. As an AF&M member I ‘ve worked consistently in studios at Fluid Productions in New York and Handsome Brothers in Massachusetts. \n \nJeffery Lockhart
