SUMMARY:Lyle Brewer "Learning Curve" Album Release
DESCRIPTION:Lyle Brewer returns to the Lizard Lounge November 12th for the release of his latest album "Learning Curve"\n\n\n$25 adv/$30 door \n \nLyle Brewer is a guitarist and songwriter from Massachusetts who incorporates the worlds of fingerstyle\, jazz and folk into a style all his own. \nA professor at Berklee College of Music and a sideman to artists such as Lori McKenna\, Ryan Montbleau and Neighbor\, Brewer has earned a reputation as one of the most skilled instrumentalists and composers of his generation. \nWhat separates Lyle from other guitarists\, however\, is what he doesn’t play. Not just another instrumental technician\, Brewer’s music is always in service to the song\, creating a rich and sophisticated quality both on record and in performance. \nThe Boston Globe describes his music as “thoughtful\, artfully composed instrumentals”\, while USA Today writes\, “Brewer’s technical ability is staggering — each note both runs into the next and seems to stand out on its own. The melodies take the place of lyrics. The songs tell stories without words.” \nOn his 13th solo album\, “Learning Curve”\, that same balance between technical mastery and narrative-based storytelling is on full display. This new album is a collection of 10 poignant songs that draw inspiration from Nick Drake\, Joni Mitchell\, The Beatles and Antonio Carlos Jobim. \nWhether on nylon string or electric guitar\, Brewer has a strong ability to communicate his ideas. You don’t need to be a guitarist to dive into Brewer’s instrumentals. He lets the music do the talking. \nLyle Brewer

SUMMARY:The Blue Ribbons/Housatonic Speed Equipment
DESCRIPTION:The Blue Ribbons return to the Lizard Lounge with Housatonic Speed Equipment Nov 13th\n\n\n$15/$20 \nDoors 7 \n  \n“The Blue Ribbons’ latest album\, 2024’s “Forever\, But Not For Long\,” has plenty of pop hooks. Or rather\, it had plenty of them before the band took sledgehammers and scalpels to most of the pretty bits. \n“It took a while to get the bones of some of the tunes down just so we could break them\,” bandleader James Rohr told Herald with a laugh. \nLocal champs the Blue Ribbons are a pop band in the same way that the Beatles or Steely Dan or Television are pop bands in that they like pop but “aren’t too precious about the songs\,” Rohr said. \nJed Gottleib – Boston Herald \n  \nThe Blue Ribbons \n  \n\n\nHousatonic Speed Equipment (S.E.) are a rock trio from Boston fronted by Nate McBride’s bass and vocals\, featuring Mike Castellana on guitar and drummer/engineer Andy Plaisted. \nShot full of noise\, determinedly flexible\, and tripping over just the right amount of crappy\, rusty objects en route through the woods that stretch from Hank Williams’s yard to Alex Chilton’s. \n  \nThe group’s recorded output consists of their EP A Strategy For Finding Volume\, available on Bandcamp. \nhttps://housatonicse.bandcamp.com

SUMMARY:Brighton Beat/Quadrapeg
DESCRIPTION:Brighton Beat with special guests Quadrapeg November 14th!\n\n\nDoors 7 \nOriginally hailing from right around the corner in Brighton\, MA – The Brighton Beat is a unique and engaging spectacle for all ages. A huge band playing epic horn funk with a full horn section\, epic percussion\, and non-stop foot stomping grooves. With influences ranging from classic New Orleans brass band Funk to Classic 70’s Afrobeat this is a dance party not to miss!. Performing up and down the East coast since 2010\, the band has developed a style of performance that uniquely engages the audience and is fun for the whole family. Positive\, uplifting\, danceable music is a trademark of The Brighton Beat sound. Instrumental songs that feature room for the horn section to improvise anchor the band’s set\, but the show often includes guest vocalists\, audience participation\, group sing-a-longs and even the occasional circus act. Welcome to your new favorite band/family. \nBrighton Beat \nThree things bind this quartet together: friendship\, a love of jazz and funk\, and a shared sense of humor. In the 2010s\, Bassist Jameson Stewart\, organist Ben Blanchard\, drummer Patrick Dalton\, and guitarist Sam Crawford formed a close personal and musical rapport working together as sidemen in various styles. It wouldn’t be long until they tried playing their own instrumental music as a quartet. Today\, QuadraPeg brings joy and vitality to their compositions and improvisations\, always with a solid groove\, camaraderie\, and a touch of the absurd. \nQuadrapeg

SUMMARY:Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam-Rohan Nijhawan
DESCRIPTION:Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured poet Rohan Nijhawan Nov 15th!\n\n\n$10 \nRohan Nijhawan is a 36-year-old Cambridge-born poet and activist. Born with a one-of-a-kind\, unknown disease\, Rohan has experienced life’s ups and downs. Although he has a disability\, Rohan does not let that disability define him. He has been skydiving twice in California\, mountain biking in Colorado\, snorkeling in Jamaica\, and most recently\, meeting His Holiness\, the Dalai Lama. He is a self-described life of the party\, as many of his friends can attest to. Rohan gave his friends and family a challenge: describe his poetry in one word. Some of the words that came up were: revolutionary\, smooth-truths\, insightful\, and introspective. Rohan tells a powerful story through his poetry and activism. The biggest influence in his poetry\, and\, for that matter\, his life\, is The Legend himself\, Robert Nesta Marley. Rohan published his first book\, Tick Tock Tempestuous: Poems of Love\, Death\, Angst & Humanity\, in the fall of 2023. Be on the lookout for his second book\, a collection of haikus\, titled I Fall Without Fear\, coming soon! \nLizard Lounge Poetry Jam

SUMMARY:Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam-William James
DESCRIPTION:The Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured poet William James Nov 29th!\n\n\n$10 \nWilliam James (Bill Stambaugh) had his first feature at the Lounge in November of 2025. \nHe has been writing since his college days. A performer at heart\, he was pulled to the stage at an early age and has never looked back . He is an actor\, director\, teacher\, and coach who preaches self-confidence to poets and actors he guides to the next level. \nAs the dark days of Covid-19 were finally fading\, he wandered into the theatre his wife was president of and watched a group of poets begin rehearsing for a presentation they were getting ready for\, offered to assist in their ‘organization’ of the presentation … and he has been religiously following them ever since. Now\, 3 years after his first evening at the Lizard Lounge\, he is a timekeeper/scorekeeper as well as a co-host (and part-time LL Slam Team coach) for the Sunday evening festivities each week\, and he could not be happier or prouder to be a part of such an amazing community. \nHe is humbled to be surrounded by such talent\, and he owes a lot to these artists\, all of them\, for bringing him into such an amazing circle…. \nLizard Lounge Poetry Jam

SUMMARY:Jake Manzi/Lux Deluxe
DESCRIPTION:Jake Manzi returns to the Lizard Lounge with Lux Deluxe December 17th\n\n\n$15/$20 Door \nDoors 7 \n \nRaised in western MA and residing in Los Angeles\, Jake’s unique brand of folk rock has earned him significant acclaim\, sold-out hometown shows\, and opening slots for Dawes\, NRBQ\, Ron Sexsmith\, M. Ward\, Lori McKenna\, and more. \nAfter a decade of writing songs\, making records\, and touring across the country\, Manzi presents his third full-length record\, Getting Somewhere. Recorded mostly-live at Recorders in LA\, it’s a confident\, assured collection of no-frills Americana gems. \nGetting Somewhere sees Manzi at his best\, roadtipping through eleven songs that start in nostalgia and end up landing firmly in the present. “When you go\, the trouble begins\,” he sings\, heartsick\, in the first track. By the end of the record\, accompanied by whirling organ and distant\, roomy-sounding drums\, things have changed: “I’m finally waking up.” \nCo-produced with Gabriel Bernini\, the album favors an invisible approach to production: complete takes captured live and minimally dressed up with overdubs. The songs breathe\, and the performances speak for themselves. The result is vibrant and immediate\, closer to what it sounds like when Manzi takes the stage. \nWith driving piano that nods to Jackson Browne\, heartachey lap steel\, and the shimmer of glockenspiel recalling Springsteen’s most energetic moments\, Getting Somewhere takes us through winding roads with plenty of detours\, landing in a place of quiet confidence\, truehearted and speckled with delightful imperfections. \nJake is no stranger to collaboration. As part of a close-knit Italian family\, he grew up singing around the table after homemade dinners. During a two-month artist residency in France\, Manzi collaborated with guitarist (and Remi Wolf co-writer) Jack DeMeo. Together\, under the name The Breadwinners\, they released their first LP titled ‘Starter’ in February of 2026. DeMeo’s guitar and vocals appear on Getting Somewhere\, alongside keyboardist Eli Salus-Kleiner\, Tim Heidecker band lap and pedal steel player Connor “Catfish” Gallagher\, \nMikaela Davis’ bassist Shane McCarthy\, Charlie Faragher on drums\, and many more. It’s a lineup featuring old and new: longtime Massachusetts pals who also made the westward migration\, and new friends made in LA. \nWritten during a period of perpetual motion—bouncing from apartment to apartment\, undergoing sweeping growth both artistically and personally—Getting Somewhere is an LA record in spirit and sound\, with Manzi’s New England heart beating at its center. \n-Kimaya Diggs \n \nJake Manzi \n\n\nThe first thing you’ll notice about LuxDexlue is the singer\, Ned King. He might be high-kicking\, rolling on the floor\, or squeezed up alongside drummer Jake Edwards with his own set of sticks in hand. Bassist Jacob Rosazza and rhythm guitarist Jake Manzi lean into their mics as Ned does\, and 3-part Eagles-esque harmonies roll out. Then the energy shifts to stage left\, where lead guitarist Caleb Rosazza has started soloing\, and you know you’re in for a good night. \nLuxDeluxe began in a poster-plastered basement in Northampton\, Massachusetts in 2009. Three young cousins and two friends got together to play rock & roll\, surrounded by stacks of records that included NRBQ\, JJ Cale\, and Tom Petty. The band rapidly gained recognition for their high-octane shows that left audiences sweaty and earned them the opportunity to share stages with Deer Tick\, White Denim\, Reptar\, Lake Street Dive\, Rubblebucket\, J Mascis\, NRBQ\, and Big Al Anderson. \nAfter a decade of writing\, recording\, and touring\, a founding member of the band moved to LA to pursue film work. The pandemic closely followed. Like many bands during the events of 2020\, LuxDeluxe went through a quiet period\, during which they slowly built up a recording studio in an old warehouse building\, and amassed a hoard of vintage guitars\, keyboards\, and amps. As guitarist Caleb Rosazza built up his inventory of recording gear\, the rest of the band dug into honing their own skills\, playing with other Western Mass bands\, co-writing\, and recording for other projects. \nIn 2022\, the band re-convened to write and record over 100 songs\, working and re-working to find their sound and identity again. And when they found themselves on stage for 2 sold-out New Year’s shows with NRBQ in 2023\, something fell into place. \nTheir first new music in 7 years will be released in Fall 2024. This will be the band’s 6th release and 4th full-length album in the 15 years they have been together. The joy is still there. Evidence of time passing is\, too. These aren’t the songs of kids barely out of high school any more. These songs bind the past to the present: the music may have evolved\, but the heart and guts that make a LuxDeluxe record what it is shine through. \nLux Deluxe
