Although taking inspiration from both fantastical and sci-fi worlds\, Llynks’ lyrics are reflective of her life experience and delivered with a powerful voice that manifests as a portal to her soul. Her debut album\, “Become the Root ” released in July 2020 and tackles the concept of taking ownership of one’s own perception in an emboldened tone backed by ethereal and cinematic production. \nLlynks \n\n\nVQnC is a singer\, songwriter\, photographer and vintage clothing curator. She was recently nominated for Boston Music Awards’ R&B Artist of the Year (‘18\,’19) \, Vocalist of the Year\, and 617 session of the year. She was featured in Marie Claire Magazine\, and released her genre-bending debut album “Freedom” in April. \nHer love of performance took shape in the southern clime of Charleston\, South Carolina\, where she grew up in a musical family with strong Celtic roots. After moving to Boston in 2013\, she discovered a rich musical scene where she could explore new musical genres and grow as an artist. Before long\, she was turning her poetry into songs. \nUsing music to process her own experiences\, VQnC gives emotions new life\, and creates a space for listeners to find their own meaning. Her signature bass lines\, catchy melodies\, and meditative repetitions embrace imperfection while celebrating self-care and self-love. \nWith a bright\, colorful aesthetic and an ever-growing sequin collection\, she channels the queenliness of disco and the soulful flair of vocalists like Jessie Ware and Stevie Nicks. VQnC fronted Boston’s funk-rock band\, Dr. Fidelity and toured with the improvisational electronic collective\, GoldBloc. She has performed at the House Of Blues\, The Sinclair\, Brighton Music Hall\, The Institute of Contemporary Art\, The Box\, and the Knitting Factory. VQnC has also shared the stage with other artists such as Busty and the Bass\, Robert DeLong\, WET\, ExMag\, Congo Sanchez\, Snoh Allegra\, and Quantic. \nVQnC \n\n\nALDRA is a Somerville\, MA-based performing and recording artist whose music draws influence from soul\, R&B\, and alternative pop. She captivates listeners with velvety tones\, profound lyrics\, and imagery to bring them on a journey through her life experiences. \nBeing raised in a Georgia baptist church\, ALDRA had her first memorable connections to music in the church choir. After graduating high school in 2015\, ALDRA moved to Boston to pursue her day time career in cosmetology. It was then she fully began to immerse herself in the music scene of New England. When not working her 9-5\, she performs\, writes new music\, and continues to grow her network in an effort to build her community and music career from the ground up. \nALDRA has toured in Colorado (2019)\, Portugal (2018) and New York (2017). She is co-host and founder of a musician focused podcast\, Young Council\, and hosts local open mics. She released her single “Quicksilver” in February 2021 ahead of her upcoming EP recorded with Plaid Dog in Allston\, MA. \nALDRA

SUMMARY:Jake Manzi Record Release with LuxDeluxe
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n\nJake Manzi celebrates his latest record release with LuxDeluxe at the Lizard Lounge!\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nHang on and let go\, Here She Comes is heading out. Ride with the fine melodies of this new Jake Manzi album (out Aug 1). Seek the exuberance of his pop. Float in the shuffle and caress of thirteen dreamy tracks that jangle and twang against the shores of your heartland. Let yourself go there\, beyond the cool sand\, where tenderness can find you where it’s fun to pretend. Lose those heavy burdens. Be a fool\, move your feet. You’re welcome to all you find here\, courtesy of Jake. \nWith a subtle touch for turning up pure song-stuff out of life\, channeling the likes of Marshall Crenshaw and Tom Petty\, of Lucinda Williams and Bruce Springsteen\, of the Wallflowers and Keane\, Manzi offers you his singular take on what contemporary pop-rock can be. Hear richly layered vocal\, guitar\, and keyboard harmonies impressed on thumping and elastic grooves from locked in drums and bass. Be transfixed by high-strung Gibson acoustics that weave enchanting moments with the mellotron and clavinet\, with the farfisa\, the organ\, and twelve-string accompaniments. \nRecorded live over four days at Spirithouse in Western Mass\, Here She Comes sees the return of Griffin Goldsmith on drums\, Jacob Rosazza on bass\, and Caleb Rosazza on guitars and keys\, with engineering by Danny Bernini and production by C. Rosazza and Manzi. Lush in tones of longing after all that’s left unsaid\, Here She Comes with a wry smile and honest charm to bring the magic of the quiet moments we get caught up in and the hope in expectation for the joys of dreaming big. \nOpening for acts like Ron Sexsmith\, NRBQ\, Lori McKenna\, Tomberlin\, and Chris Collingwood\, and collaborating with artists like Don Was and Mikaela Davis\, Madison Cunningham and Dawes’s Griffin & Taylor Goldsmith\, Jake Manzi is a songwriter to be reckoned with and a unique talent to be enjoyed. \nJake Manzi \n\n\nIT ALL STARTED WHEN THREE COUSINS AND TWO FRIENDS GOT TOGETHER TO PLAY ROCK&ROLL IN A POSTER-PLASTERED BASEMENT IN NORTHAMPTON\, MASSACHUSETTS\, SURROUNDED BY STACKS OF NRBQ\, JJ CALE\, AND TOM PETTY RECORDS. EMBEDDED IN THE CONNECTICUT RIVER VALLEY THAT LEGENDS INCLUDING DINOSAUR JR. AND PIXIES CALL HOME\, LUXDELUXE BUILDS ON THE VALLEY’S HISTORY OF MUSICAL INNOVATION. \nChurning out high-octane shows that leave audiences sweaty\, LuxDeluxe delivers a serious punch of supple Rolling Stones-y grooves\, persuasive danceable hooks\, and rock-solid old-fashioned craft. Flaunting like Jagger\, with all the sensuality of Bowie\, lead singer Ned King creates a spectacle rarely seen since the heyday of rock&roll. \nAs the band rapidly gains recognition for their live shows\, they’ve been invited to share the stage with the likes of Deer Tick\, White Denim\, NRBQ\, Reptar\, Lake Street Dive\, Rubblebucket\, J Mascis\, and Big Al Anderson. The highlight of last year was warming up a crowd of over 10\,000 for VT Senator Bernie Sanders. \nThe band released its second album\, “It’s a Girl\,” last year\, with the song “So Far Away” being chosen as Song of the Year on the tastemaker radio station\, 93.9 The River as well as being reviewed and labeled a band to watch for by Pitchfork Magazine. This has been an extremely prolific year. The recently released one-shot visual EP “Midnight Snack” is only the start of the flood of new music to come from LuxDeluxe in 2017. \nWith encyclopedic knowledge of vintage gear\, from Gabe Bernini’s Clavinet to Jacob Rosazza’s “Beatle bass” to Caleb Rosazza and Jake Edwards’ collection of vintage guitars\, amps\, and drum kits\, LuxDeluxe’s next release will be their third full-length album\, “Let’s Do Lunch.” Comprised completely of songs tracked with vintage equipment on a Tascam Four Track Cassette Recorder and mixed at SpiritHouse Music Studios in Northampton\, “Let’s Do Lunch” puts the listener amongst the band during late-night recording sessions\, at the center of the synchronicity only family can create\, and at the heart of their influences. \n– KIMAYA DIGGS \nLuxDeluxe

Gradually incorporating a range of influences from mod to metal and invested with Parish’s extraordinary gifts as a songwriter and singer\, the band quickly generated a buzz on the Boston scene. Their early fans included such local pop stars as Kay Hanley and Jen Trynin\, whose spirited support helped to bring the Pit to the attention of their Boston-based indie label\, Q Division Records. \nWithin a year of their arrival in Boston\, The Gravel Pit released the first of four Q Division releases. The Gravel Pit Manifesto (with pop-maestro producer Mike Denneen)\, was a brightly original\, power-pop gem that earned them Best Indie Album and Best New Band at the 1996 Boston Music Awards. Their wildly energetic live shows and diverse catalogue of power-pop gems kept the momentum going strong for the next three years. They played hundreds of dates\, opened for acts as diverse as Graham Parker\, Cheap Trick\, Gang of Four\, Morphine\, Guided By Voices\, Nada Surf and They Might Be Giants and released three more records on Q\,: 1997’s full-length No One Here Gets In For Free—Rare and Unreleased 1989 – 1997;the 1998 hit single “Favorite\,” produced by Denneen; and 1999’s full-length Silver Gorilla\, also with Denneen\, which amassed critical raves across the country\, from Raygun to Entertainment Weekly. The Gravel Pit won the Boston Regional Poll at The 1st Annual Independent Music Awards. \nAfter their national Silver Gorilla tour\, without the big break of a major label deal and commercial exposure\, the band decided to tone down their intense live performance schedule and spread out their efforts for a while. Valauskas\, Jackson and Caldes formed The Gentlemen\, a hugely popular hard-rock act\, with Mike Gent of the Figgs. Parish has been exploring the vast and varied terrain of his musical tastes as a solo artist. \nTheir separate explorations did not diminish their collective chemistry. With the release of 2001’s Mass Avenue Freeze-out on Q Division\, The Gravel Pit came together to stake another claim as one of the most inspired power-pop outfits on the American independent music scene. \nThe Gravel Pit contributed a cover of the Miracle Legion song “Closer to the Wall” for the 2009 Mark Mulcahy tribute album “Ciao My Shining Star”. It appears as a bonus track available on the deluxe edition. On September 20\, 2009 Jed Parish\, Ed Valauskas & Pete Caldes performed at the release party for the album with Frank Black and Ray Neal on Black’s contribution to the album\, ‘Bill Jocko’\, at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Valauskas\, Caldes & Neal remained on stage to perform two Pixies songs ‘Cactus’ and ‘Gouge Away’. \nThe band released their first album in 13 years\, Serpent Umbrella\, in 2014. \nThe Gravel Pit \n\n\nA leading light in the mid-1990s indie rock scene\, the Mommyheads were formed in 1987 and quickly became a presence at the famous CBGB’s in NYC. 14 full length releases all charting high in the Top 100 of College and Community radio and hundreds of shows under their belts\, the band will release their 15th LP “Coney Island Kid on Sept 20th. Their recent output has also garnered glowing reviews; Relix proclaiming “the Mommyheads are the Godfathers of Baroque Prog Pop” and Stereo Embers boasting “they are more creatively alive then they’ve ever been”. \nThe Mommyheads \n\n\nPer Sunding \, lead vocalist and bass player from Eggstone will play the music of Eggstone for the 1st time \nIn the USA \, backed by members of The Mommyheads \, Apples in Stereo and the B-52s. \nPer is also the founder of Tambourine Studios \, which produced all of the Cardigans records as well as the Sainte Etienne \, Angela McClusky and Tom Jones \nto name a few. Rockett’s soulful\, lyric-driven rock ‘n’ roll effortlessly melds blues and rock with country\, bluegrass\, folk and funk.Dan has performed with the likes of Los Lobos\, The Flaming Lips\, Ziggy Marley\, Bob Moses\, Vernon Reid\, Eric Krasno and many others. \n \nOverlaying stunningly poignant harmonies with scorching guitar riffs\, the band evokes elements of Neil Young\, Pink Floyd and the Allman Brothers\, while maintaining a sound that is uniquely their own. Guitarist Ryan Flaherty and drummer Erika Stahl of Portland\, Maine play a grungy style of railroad indie punk blues. The album is packed with 14 red hot tracks that blend psychedelic rock\, punk blues and fiery lyrics into a sound that’s uniquely Muddy Ruckus. \n“Using the striking\, heavy language of romanticism\, the emotional impact of the words is not so much overwhelming as it is effective. \nRare that a song can accomplish what classic literature sought to.” – Gas Mask Magazine \n“Legit dance hall crashers” – Glide Magazine \n“Their music is down and dirty\, steeped in the mud of the Mississippi delta and the Louisiana swamps\, but also in the mud and grime of Woodstock and the mosh pit at an outdoor punk show.” – Maine Today \n“Infectious\, foot-stomping Americana tunes. Similar to the White Stripes in duo power\, Muddy Ruckus delivers a full-bodied sound with nothing but a guitar and suitcase drums.”-The Sound \n“The White Stripes of Delta Blues” – James Montgomery \n \nMuddy Ruckus

SUMMARY:Caleb Caudle
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n \nCaleb Caudle at the Lizard Lounge!\n\n\nMUST BE 21 \n\n\nForsythia\, the latest studio LP offering from Caleb Caudle out 10/7/22 via Soundly Music\, is a portrait of his truest self\, of the artist at his most solitary and reflective.Thematically\, it meets anticipation for the unknown future with nostalgia for the past\, and reconciles both with meditation in the present. The album was recorded at the legendary Cash Cabin during the pandemic\, and inspired by the solitude and symbols Caudle found in nature during that time. It’s produced by John Carter Cash\, and features veteran session players Jerry Douglas\, Sam Bush\, Dennis Crouch and Fred Eltringham\, and the vocal talents of Carlene Carter\, Elizabeth Cook and Sarah Peasall McGuffey. Simplistic arrangements– in which Caudle was the only guitarist– built a framework for space that is filled intentionally so that the songs themselves can be heard and appreciated without an overcrowding of instrumentation. On this record\, outsider influences come into play nearly as much as his foundational knowledge of traditional Appalachian folk and other music history. This collection of 10 songs serves as a manifesto of Caudle’s beliefs and simplest desires. Forsythia sees Caudle as a master of his craft as a songwriter and musician. \nCaleb Caudle

SUMMARY:Thalia Zedek with Tyler and the Names
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n \nIndie rocker legend Thalia Zedek at the Lizard Lounge with Tyler and the Names\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nThalia Zedek is an artist of immutable stature and unceasing vitality. The legendary songwriter’s fiery voice and frank lyricism give her songs both their emotional potency and their stark beauty. Zedek is able to distill complex events into simple\, clear\, and at times monumentally weighty moments with a singular grace. Through ballads or bluster\, Zedek imbues her music with unguarded honesty. New album Perfect Vision examines the anxiety and pain of rising divisions between people both physical and ideological. On Perfect Vision\, Zedek transmutes fervor and resilience into sobering laments\, while her lush arrangements wrap the listener in an often complex emotional message. \n \nPerfect Vision follows Thalia Zedek Band’s 2018 album Fighting Season\, created in the midst of growing tensions across the U.S. On Fighting Season Zedek sought resistance\, where on Perfect Vision Zedek searches for clarity during a time of exponential isolation and doubt. On “Binoculars\,” she explores the difficulty of staying afloat\, while overwhelmed by uncertainty of conflict and fear. Zedek’s simple and repetitive guitar line marches forward while longtime collaborator David Michael Curry’s viola swirls intensely around her. The pounding “Queasy” thunders and thrashes in the face of ignorance and intolerance while “Overblown” examines the strain of communicating across cavernous schisms. Every challenge and sadness Zedek forces us to see is met in equal measure by her defiant guitar and dissenting voice\, a torch illuminating a path for the listener to navigate through the darkness. \n \nZedek composed the bulk of Perfect Vision remotely from her band. Lockdowns allowed Zedek to take more time working on arrangements as well as to collaborate remotely with artists from across the country. Zedek recorded the core of the album with the veritable rhythm section of bassist Winston Braman and drummer Gavin McCarthy (also of Zedek’s E and Karate) who brought a propulsive punch to the album. As the trio recorded at Machines With Magnets with engineer Seth Manchester\, friends old and new remotely recorded their parts fleshing out Zedek vision and arrangements. Pedal steel guitarist Karan Zarkisian buoys the steady swagger of “Cranes” with sublime melodic lines seemingly in conversation with Zedek\, in an intimate conversation between friends. Brian Carpenter’s trumpet harmonies punctuate the incendiary “From the Fire” with flares of Eastern European brio. On the waltzing “Smoked” and climactic album closer “Tolls\,” Alison Chesley’s (Helen Money) cello bolsters David Michael Curry’s elegantly restrained lines. Mel Lederman added final touches of piano and back up harmonies in the final days at the studio. \n \nZedek and Manchester completed work on the album on January 6th\, 2021\, as the U.S. Capitol was under insurrection. Perfect Vision is an album fully willing to see\, acknowledge and address the insidious forces of the modern world. Zedek brings considerable skills as a musician and as a groundbreaking advocate for both women in music and LGBTQ+ rights to face emotional and political obstacles with unblinking\, steadfast determination. The sharp and diverse songs across Perfect Vision stand as profoundly reflective\, moving anthems to purging malevolence. \nThalia Zedek \n \n\n\nTyler and the Names are a band based out of Cambridge\, Mass. In recent years they have released three full length albums\, the most recent being The Bullfrogs Lamentation. With a sound that can suggest The Rolling Thunder Revue hitched up with Ornette Coleman\, they are not to be missed \nTyler and the Names

SUMMARY:Poetry Jam- Featured Poet Ink from Honey
DESCRIPTION:Ink From Honey\n\n“When the voice of prison reform echoes\, it should be the understanding of rehabilitated people being set free.”\n\n\n\nFeaturing the work of six incarcerated poets\, curated by Joanna Célestin: \n\nMy name is Artem Vaskanyan. I am an Armenian refugee from Azerbaijan. During the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan my family and I\, at age six\, migrated to the Russian parts of the former Soviet Union and years later in 1993 we migrated to the United States. At age twenty in the year 2000 I was arrested and imprisoned. During my years of incarceration\, my life set me on the path of spiritual and intellectual growth. Because of my drive to persevere\, I was able to graduate from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts in 2020\, become an activist\, a writer & Perot and a published author of three books. \n\nThank you for listening. \nYours truly\, \n-Artem \n\nMy name is Eddie Mack. And I am 38 years of age. I am a black man raised in a single-parent household. I am currently serving a life sentence for a crime I did not commit under a theory called Joint Venture. \n\nMy name is Elbert Newson. I’m currently doing life in prison for murder in the first degree. I have a Joint Venture case: meaning there was a principal\, and Joint Venturer and I was the Joint Venture. Plus\, I had no principal in my case. To understand Joint Venture would be a miracle. \nMy name is Amos Don. Fiancé to Joanna Celestin. I am currently serving a life sentence; wrongfully convicted. Presently\, I am enrolled in Emerson College. I am also a published poet\, a children’s book author\, and involved in civic engagement through DonofCreation/Ink from Honey LLC. \nPeace Family\, My name is Ray Còlon\, I am 48 years old and I’ve been incarcerated for 24 years on a sentence of life without parole. I am the Latino Chairman on the Norfolk inmate council. I co-facilitate the Harriet Tubman project and I am enrolled in the Emerson Prison Initiative. \n\nOn behalf of Lizard Lounge\, we are full of gratitude. We are the class of incarcerated people honored for this privilege to feature our poetry. Often society never witnessed rehabilitation take form. In account are six poets who are somewhat engaged in civic duties and some kind of transformative education/program while incarcerated. Our vision and hope seeks to arise understanding\, and gain voting support on the joint venture bill sponsored by state representative Lindsay Sabadosa to abolish the contributing factor towards the mass incarceration of black and brown poverty communities\, and the demographic of poor white people. Abolishing Joint Venture theory will unlock the chains of injustice\, and allowing the person who never shared the intentions to commit the crime to revive Justice. If tonight moves you in any way\, share our story\, and let it be because Ink From Honey rehabilitates. \n\n\nThanks again.

SUMMARY:Sound Kicks Out+Hipstory w Photocomfort\, Notebook P and Karim!
DESCRIPTION:Sound Kicks Out and Hipstory present “A Night at the Lounge” a showcase featuring Photocomfort\, Notebook P and Karim!\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nPhotocomfort \nPhotocomfort is the platform for Boston-based artist Justine Bowe’s careful\, expansive pop. Photocomfort is the distillation of the exacting songwriting\, production and performance craftsmanship she lends to other recording projects like Hex Girlfriend\, Anjimile\, and Cliff Notez. She borrows as much from 90’s radio heroes like Alanis Morissette and Dido as from Radiohead and Solange Knowles. Huge vocal hooks soar over nimble arrangements\, presenting the self-doubt and isolation born from the pursuit of “the dream” of being an artist as harrowing\, irresistible and irresistibly catchy. Stepping away from moody and humorous self-reflections\, her upcoming album\, “Patron Saint\,” is a collection of platonic love songs. With pedal steels lending color to electronic and acoustic elements\, live performance\, and rich atmosphere\, each of “Patron Saint’s” songs feature a crystal-clear portrait of a dear friend\, many of whom feature her in their own musical projects and whose relationships and collaboration you can track through their published music. The songs\, which could easily be at home in both jazz songbooks and folk clubs\, deliver all the promise\, care\, and color true platonic love deserves. \nKarim is a self taught multidisciplinary artist. The 28 year old Boston native began his creative journey taking on roles in his high school’s musicals and has since found his own musical style\, influenced by R&B\, soul\, jazz\, gospel\, and classical. In 2014\, he began producing beats on his phone and recorded his first feature. In 2016\, he released his first solo track\, “FYA” and began performing live at local events and open mics. In 2019\, he released his first EP\, “Huemanity\,” which blends elements of neo-soul\, indie pop\, and alternative rock. Karim is also in a rap/sung duo\, Da Grüvement\, alongside his musical partner\, Mos Generous\, AKA Mos. Karim has backed Najee Janey for Boston Calling and headlined a concert at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. He is currently gearing up to release his 3rd body of work. \nNotebook P is a singer/songwriter based in Randolph\, MA. SUMMARY:Dan Blakeslee Album Release for “Road Hymns” w/Special Guest Lindsay Foote
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n\n\n  \nDan Blakeslee celebrates the release of his upcoming “Road Hymns” with a hometown party at the Lizard Lounge!\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nWhile attending art school in Baltimore\, Maryland in the early 90’s Dan Blakeslee\, a Maine native discovered that he had an equal and deeply rooted connection to music. He would sneak into the galleries to play his guitar through the late hours of the evening surrounded by easels and oil paintings. After four years in “Charm City\,” he returned to his childhood home in the Tatnic Woods of South Berwick\, ME. That summer he played street corners in New Hampshire and Maine while working at a lobster restaurant. His employer urged him to sever ties to manual labor for one of a more musical nature. A phone call from a friend offering him a room in Somerville\, MA began his journey south in 1995. While settling into this artful community he began to practice his craft in the smoke-laden subways of Boston. He now has been making music and art in the New England region ever since\, leading him to tour the U.S. He has performed with Langhorne Slim\, Josh Ritter\, David Wax Museum\, Lydia Loveless\, The Lumineers\, Deer Tick\, The Low Anthem\, Brown Bird\, Sean Rowe\, Jonah Tolchin\, Old 97’s\, Death Vessel\, Kimya Dawson among others. In 2015 his dream of playing Newport Folk Festival became a reality\, where Bob Dylan went electric 50 years earlier. \nThe hills and highways are made for wandering\, this is forever rooted in Dan Blakeslee who performs an average of 160+ shows per year. In a gymnasium at Laconia Prison (NH) in 2005\, a crowd of 150 inmates became hushed after hearing Blakeslee’s songs of hardship\, hope\, and true grit later released as a live album. In the late winter of 2006 brought him a string of 27 shows with Tiger Saw (Dylan Metrano\, Alan Bull\, Angel Deradoorian (Dirty Projectors)) to the southern US and straight up the Mississippi River igniting his passion to continue on this path for the years to come. In June of 2012 upon returning from the 120-mile journey by foot on the Massachusetts Walking Tour Blakeslee mapped out a tour of a different shape slated for the fall of that year. This venture spanned 7 states\, with Blakeslee performing 31 shows in 25 days as his Halloween alter ego “Doctor Gasp” making a connect the dots Jack-O-Lantern face on a map of New England. 2013 brought him to Austin\, TX in March for SXSW followed by a tour with his band “The Calabash Club” in late June of that year. \nBlakeslee has released ten full-length albums to date. Two of them were recorded by long-time art school friend Ron Harrity (Peapod Recordings) the first “Lincoln Street Roughs” was recorded in a warehouse called The Map Room in Portland\, Maine in 2007. The next was “Tatnic Tales” released on May 10\, 2011. It is a collection of Blakeslee’s country folk songs most stemming from real life experiences. This album features his band The Calabash Club who formed in a Dover\, NH basement in October of 2008. The members: Mike Effenberger – piano\, Nick Phaneuf – bass\, and Jim Rudolf – drums; are the essential ingredients in this acoustic folk outfit. “Tatnic Tales” was recorded in Dean Ludington’s barn in North Berwick\, ME by the railroad as the friendship between the members of the band bloomed. “Tatnic Tales” is the first full-length album the band has recorded together to date. Blakeslee’s following album “Owed To The Tanglin’ Wind” was recorded at the Columbus Theatre in Providence\, RI by Ben Knox Miller and Jeffrey Prystowsky (The Low Anthem). It was released on August 19th\, 2014 with which Blakeslee did extensive touring in 2015. This album received “Album Of The Year” from Red Line Roots. Blakeslee was also awarded 2014 “Folk Artist Of The Year” at the Boston Music Awards\, and “Male Performer of The Year” at the 2015 New England Music Awards. After a pause between full-band records his long awaited album “The Alley Walker” recorded by studio wizard Chris Chase (The Noise Floor) featuring his band The Calabash Club came out in 2017 to much acclaim. After touring the US a couple of times and much journeying it was time to get back in the studio. Blakeslee had been dreaming of making a full-length Christmas album for over a decade inspired by his retro music collection. So on a cold winter night in 2019 Blakeslee stepped into the studio for the first session of “Christmasland Jubilee”. This full-length album by Dan Blakeslee and the Calabash Club was revealed on December 1\, 2020\, and is their third release together. \nDan Blakeslee \n\n\n \nLindsay Foote has made a career of crafting sincere music built around honest lyricism and vibrant arrangements steeped in folk traditions. The songwriter’s path has been an unconventional one. Though Massachusetts-born\, she spent the formative years of her twenties in Toronto\, entrenching herself in the diverse music scene. During those years\, she released two EPs\, became a two-time finalist in the Canadian Songwriting Competition\, and completed significant tours through the US and Canada. \nShe returned to her hometown of Boston in 2019\, and has since been making a name for herself in the vibrant folk scene. In January 2020\, Foote released her latest EP\, Rollercoaster\, with a sold out show at Club Passim. On this EP\, Foote collaborated with Toronto’s multi-instrumentalist and producer Joel Schwartz. After receiving significant attention on the folk circuit\, they decided to work together on her upcoming single “Guarded Heart.” “Guarded Heart” finds her delving deeper into an americana sound\, combining traditional folk elements with her signature hook-friendly\, songwriting. \nhttps://www.lindsayfoote.com/ \n

SUMMARY:Dub Apocalypse
DESCRIPTION:Dub Apocolypse returns to the Lizard Lounge!\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \nDub Apocalypse is an instrumental dub reggae band from Boston\, MA. Band members are Tommy Benedetti-drums\,Van Martin-guitar\,Johnny Trama-guitar\,Aaron Bellamy-bass\,and Timo Shanko-sax/bass. The band came together in 2007\, led by drummer Tommy Benedetti and guitarist\, Johnny Trama.Tommy Benedetti is one of the founding members of American Reggae Pioneers\,John Brown’s Body. He brings a wealth of experience from the reggae/dub scene to the table\,having recorded albums for the legendary Shanachie Label\,John Zorn’s Tzadik Label (mixed by Bill Laswell)\,and is currently with John Brown’s Body on Easy Star Records. This history is combined with almost 2 decades of International touring\,as well as backing some of the giants of Jamaican music\,including The Meditations and Justin Hinds. \nGuitarist Johnny Trama adds a soulful blues touch to the Dub Apocalypse signature sound.Trama has spent time on the road with the great Ron Levy\, BB King’s organ player\, as well as many other regional rock and soul/r&b acts. Not long after Dub Apocalypse came together\, longtime friend Timo Shanko entered the fold.A dual threat on both bass and saxophone\,Shanko is a veteran of the blues and free jazz scene. He spent many years on the road with Blues legend\, Eddie Kirkland\, as well as with G. Love and Special Sauce. Shanko is also a prolific composer\,and his improvisational stylings are an integral part of the Dub Apocalypse sound. Although DA started out as more of a collective\,in the past few years the lineup has solidified with the addition of bassist Aaron Bellamy and guitarist Van Martin. Bellamy is a longtime fixture in the Boston funk scene\,and in combination with Benedetti \,they form the deep\,militant sound at the core of Dub Apocalypse. \nOriginally hailing from Chicago\,Van Martin rounds out the lineup on guitar. Martin has much touring experience as well\, including appearances with Bernie Worrell and Big Daddy Kane. His sonic textures\,adventurous playing and songwriting have helped Dub Apocalypse take their sound to a new level. The DA sound is an evolving mix of original compositions and their own interpretations of classic Jamaican and UK songs and dub plates. Heavy hitting drum and bass grooves set the table. A twin guitar attack\, with Trama’s rhythmic anchor\,and Martin’s dub sonics\, swirl in and out in tandem. These pieces\, combined with Timo Shanko’s Coltrane inspired sax approach\, give Dub Apocalypse a

SUMMARY:Kimaya Diggs/Kendra Mckinley
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n \nKimaya Diggs and Kendra Mckinley come together for a night at the Lizard Lounge!\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nMusician Kimaya Diggs navigates her world with stories. Penning her first one-woman show as a little kid\, she’s published fiction\, earned a Callaloo fellowship for poetry\, and works days as a speechwriter—not to mention the accolades her songwriting’s earned\, including a New England Music Awards nod\, gigs at legendary folk haunts like Club Passim\, and appearances at Green River Festival\, Rubblebucket’s Dream Picnic\, and the Emily Dickinson festival. “I’ve always thought of my writing and music as one thing—connective storytelling\,” Diggs explains. But while her mother was sick with a twelve-year illness\, Diggs felt unable to share the whole truth. Her first LP\, 2018’s Breastfed\, was largely about her mom\, but it wasn’t until her passing that Diggs was free to use songwriting to process. “Sharing my grieving experience has resonated with people; they’re excited to hear something that’s not all good\,” notes Diggs. To help cope\, Diggs and her husband Jacob Rosazza—also her musical collaborator—rescued an ex-racing dog\, Quincy. Though they shared only two years together\, caring for the traumatized animal helped Diggs find purpose. “Having him was challenging\, but at the same time\, he’s why we survived the first year without my mom\,” offers Diggs. “It was special to get to love a creature so much—because of\, in spite of\, and in addition to the challenges he came with.” Losing Quincy gave her greater insight on heartache\, so she named her newest album after him. \nKimaya Diggs \n\n\nKendra McKinley paints on her clothes and makes music for smoking weed with your bra off. Whether she’s performing solo with a guitar and loop pedal or dancing with a full live band Kendra’s confident\, honeyed voice indulges all who hear it. \nKendra Mckinley

SUMMARY:The Headhunters 50th Anniversary Tour Early Show
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\nThe Headhunters 50th Anniversary Tour comes to the Lizard Lounge.\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nFew bands can boast a history as fortuitous and storied as The Headhunters. That history began back in 1973 when iconic musician Herbie Hancock formed the Headhunters -saxophonist/clarinetist Bennie Maupin\, bassist Paul Jackson Jr.\, drummer Harvey Mason\, and percussionist Bill Summers. What each member of the Headhunters brought to the table helped forge a timeless legacy and history that most bands can only dream of. Their blend of jazz with funk and rock reached millions of fans of jazz\, rock\, funk\, and R&B alike. With over a million albums sold\, the band’s legacy would inspire musicians of every genre for years to come\, be sampled by various rap artists throughout the \n’80s and ’90s\, and influence countless musicians’ styles of playing today. \nThe Headhunters’ impact remains a global phenomenon\, and their time with Hancock proved to be a life changing experience. The band has released 6 more full length albums including “Thrust” in 1974 with the addition of drummer Mike Clark\, struck out on their own in 1975\, without Hancock’s involvement\, on \n“Survival of the Fittest” and on “Straight from the Gate” in 1977. \nAfter a twenty year hiatus they reunited in 1998 with Hancock for the Verve album “Return of the Headhunters” with Clark\, Jackson\, and Summers performing as the Headhunters actively touring until the March 2021 passing of Jackson.
