DESCRIPTION:Join us May 14th for two great songwriters Eleanor Buckland and Chessa Rich\n\n\nEleanor Buckland made her start as one-third of Lula Wiles\, the Boston-based folk-rock trio that became an acoustic music scene favorite with their three critically hailed albums\, the most recent two released on Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. Now living in Durham\, NC\, the singer songwriter has turned to a new page as a solo artist. Buckland’s debut album You Don’t Have To Know (released October 2021 on Soundly Music) sets her deeply personal songs against inventive indie rock arrangements. \nBorn and raised in Maine\, Buckland comes from a family full of musicians. Her grandmother\, Betty Buckland\, was prominent in the New England bluegrass scene\, while her father\, Andy Buckland\, played electric guitar in Boston area bands. A fixture of Boston music since 2000\, Powhida is the erstwhile frontman for the beloved Rudds and the one-time pilot of the John Powhida Airport International. The Albany native has garnered several Boston Music Awards\, won the WBCN Rock ‘n Roll Rumble in 2011\, and has performed with Graham Parker\, Peter Wolf\, Todd Rundgren\, and the Nazz. The Infirmary is working on their forthcoming debut—due in the summer of 2026\, it’s a bit of an art-rock fever dream\, a little injection of disco-pop\, and anything but prescriptive. DESCRIPTION:Join us May 16th for an evening with the kings of the Echo-Plex Dub Apocalypse featuring Dana Colley!\n\n\n$20 adv/$25 door \nDoors 8 \nDub Apocalypse is an instrumental dub reggae band from Boston\, MA. Band members are Tommy Benedetti-drums\,Van Martin-guitar\,Johnny Trama-guitar\,Aaron Bellamy-bass\,and Timo Shanko-sax/bass. The band came together in 2007\, led by drummer Tommy Benedetti and guitarist\, Johnny Trama.Tommy Benedetti is one of the founding members of American Reggae Pioneers\,John Brown’s Body. He brings a wealth of experience from the reggae/dub scene to the table\,having recorded albums for the legendary Shanachie Label\,John Zorn’s Tzadik Label (mixed by Bill Laswell)\,and is currently with John Brown’s Body on Easy Star Records. This history is combined with almost 2 decades of International touring\,as well as backing some of the giants of Jamaican music\,including The Meditations and Justin Hinds. \n \nDub Apocalypse \n\n\nDana Colley is a saxophonist best known for playing the baritone saxophone in the guitarless\, low-rock band Morphine. Colley and Mark Sandman met in Boston and formed the band Morphine in 1989. The band’s unique setup featured a baritone sax\, a 2-string bass\, and drums. Morphine released multiple albums\, had a hit video on MTV\, and toured extensively. Tragically\, in 1999\, Mark Sandman suffered a heart attack and passed away while performing on stage. In response to this loss\, Colley and the remaining members of Morphine formed the 9-piece group known as Orchestra Morphine to promote the band’s final posthumous album\, titled “Night.” Colley went on form other successful groups including Twineman in 2001 with Laurie Sargent\, and A.K.A.C.O.D. in 2006 with bassist/songwriter Monique Ortiz. Throughout the years\, Colley has collaborated with various artists\, including the Alloy Orchestra\, Lee Renaldo\, Dub Apocalypse\, Club D’Elf\, and Les Claypool. Colley also continues to perform the music of Morphine\, with the band Vapors of Morphine.

After the disintegration of their old line-up and pulling together new bandmates\, LG has been touring with them almost nonstop with over 100 shows in 2019. One of the highlights of the tour were two sold out shows supporting Grammy Nominee Brittany Howard. \nAmidst all the touring\, the band was able to track Fuck\, Marry\, Kill in Nashville\, produced by LG with Mixing and Mastering by Jim Kissling in Detroit (King Tuff\, Ex Hex\, The Go). Inspirations for this album pull from 80’s metal\, Robert Palmer\, Eddie Money\, Depeche Mode\, and early Rock and Roll. \nHaving performed with acts like Eagles of Death Metal\, The Coathangers\, Birdcloud\, Burmuda Triangle\, and Charles Bradley\, Thelma and The Sleaze have long established themselves as one of the best touring bands out there. Having signed on to The What of Whom for the release of their next record\, Fuck\, Marry\, Kill\, they have also released music through the likes of Burger Records and Third Man Records. \nThelma and the Sleaze \n\n\n\nBoston native Julie Rhodes musical career started “on a whim”. DESCRIPTION:The Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured poet Vernon C Robinson April 19th!\n\n\n$10  \nVCR (Vernon C. Robinson) is a Dorchester native born and raised in Boston. He has been writing\, reciting and performing poetry/spoken word for nearly 20 years and has performed at several local spots as a feature and participant. He has poetically graced the same stage and opened up for such acts as Dead Prez\, S.O.S. Band\, Amiri Baraka\, Pharoahe Monch\, Suheir Hammad\, Lakeside\, New Birth\, Last Poets\, Les Nubians\, Saul Williams\, Jessica Care Moore\, Georgia ME\, Michel’le and other well-known artists. In addition to Massachusetts\, he has taken his poetry to cities and states such as New York (including the famous Nuyorican Poets Café)\, Atlanta\, Chicago\, Dallas\, Cleveland\, Baltimore\, Los Angeles\, and\, surprisingly\, Cuba\, where he met the legendary Assata Shakur. VCR is also the founder and cultural event organizer of BloodSkinLand Productions. From that umbrella\, he has created many annual gatherings which include Devotion\, Megacipher\, InFRESHstructure\, Afro-Cinema\, Maylennium\, Young Gifted & Black\, BomBARDed\, and the popular ongoing gathering called VerBaLizAtiOn\, which is currently the longest-running open mic spot in the Boston area of over 25 years. VCR’s debut CD entitled “Poetic Insanity”\, released in 2003. VCR has been nominated for Best Male Spoken Word Artist at the 2006 New England Urban Music Awards\, twice for Best Spoken Word Artist at the 2006 & 2007 M.I.C. Hip-Hop Awards and for Spoken Word Artist of the Year at the 2023 Boston Music Awards. In 2011\, he became one of many awardees of the NAACP Image Awards of the Boston chapter. In 2014\, VCR was awarded the Ralph F. Browne Jr. Juneteenth Incentive Award by the Boston Juneteenth Committee and the National Center of Afro-American Artists for creating and sustaining VerBaLizAtiOn. In 2024\, he was awarded the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Senate Official Citation (presented by Senator Liz Miranda) for the recognition of VerBaLizAtiOn’s 25 years of dedication. VCR’s “Kangaroo Joy” became the official poem for then Boston City Councilor At-Large and current Massachusetts Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley’s annually “Jump Into Peace” event. In addition to that\, he has also performed at the Congresswoman’s cultural arts swearing-in fundraiser with a poem entitled “Change Can’t Wait\,” – named after the slogan used by Pressley during her campaign. In 2022\, he has released his long-awaited poetry book entitled “Obsoletes & Upgrades”.
