Entirely produced on an antiquated 4-track cassette recorder and mixed live by Jay Champnay of 10 Ft. November 30th with Itay Dayan!\n\n\nEvent is 21+$15/$20 door \nDoors at 8 \nThis fall\, New Orleans jazz exponents The Soggy Po Boys will celebrate the release of their 6th full-length album\, Leave the Light On\, in a series of not-to-be-missed release shows around the Northeast. \nThe Po Boys formed in 2012 to shake the walls of a local club on a Fat Tuesday but have honed their sound and become more than a Mardi Gras centerpiece. Exploring the vast musical traditions of New Orleans and expanding their repertoire to look beyond NOLA jazz\, the band performs traditional Caribbean tunes (it’s been said that New Orleans is the northernmost city in the Caribbean)\, as well as Meters funk\, soul\, and brass band / street beat music. \nThe latest record captures the 7-piece band’s mission of embracing tradition without becoming a museum piece. Drawing inspiration from different musical worlds\, Itay played with various ensembles such as the Klezmer Conservatory Band\, Meitar Ensemble and the Israel Klezmer Orchestra\, with which he has toured internationally.While studying for his M.Mus at New England Conservatory and his B.Mus at the Jerusalem Academy of Music\, Itay won scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation\, Ronen Foundation\, Ima Foundation\, and the Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Foundation. Notably\, Itay is a recipient of the Siday Fellowship for Musical Creativity by the Jerusalem Institute of Contemporary Music\, and of the Peter Row Global Musician Award.

Douglas was originally scheduled to perform at his traditional “December birthday” feature\, and we will now dedicate that evening to honoring his memory and celebrating his poetry. He was a cherished presence\, and will be deeply missed by everyone in our community who had the privilege and pleasure of knowing him. \n“Douglas Bishop has been jamming and slamming at the Poetry Jam since it got going – which means he’s been a regular at the Lizard for more than 20 years. As a teacher\, he has worked with classrooms ranging from early childhood to university\, but now mostly teaches online for Mill City Speaks and Lowell Poetry Wheel. As a poet\, he has performed in venues from Glasgow to Guatemala\, but now primarily appears as one of the hosts of the Untitled Open Mic in Lowell. His doctoral study on the development of literate identity in young writers continues in his work for Freeverse!\, Lowell’s youth poetry group. He also works as a visual artist\, as well as performing vocals\, flute\, and percussion with his jazz-poetry band\, Dr. Dougie’s Dangerous Delight (4D). DESCRIPTION:The Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured poet Silent E!\n\n\n$10 \n \nEunice Belacy aka Silent E has been a Poet and Spoken Word artist in the Greater Boston area for over 10years. She grew up in North Cambridge\, MA to Haitian immigrant parents and was raised in the church. She started writing poetry at 16 years old and began performing at 24 while attending Bridgewater State University \, where she joined the Spoken Word group ‘ The Seeds of Poetry’ \nShe has performed at various open mics at churches\, colleges\, art galleries\, barsrestaurants etc.She has graced stages in Boston \, New York \, St Louis \, Atlanta and Los Angeles\, as well as online via Instagram. Not only has she shared her pieces in multiple locations \, she has also co-hosted a few open mics as well. The written and spoken word have always been her safe place. Silent E wishes to use her poetry to uplift\, inspire and share wisdom \, as well as be vulnerable with her audience. She believes that anyone can be a poet \, as long as they are willing to bare their souls and be honest first with themselves and then with the reader and listeners. \nA Quote she lives by:Ephesians 3:20Now all Glory to God who is able to through his mighty power at work within us do exceedingly \, abundantly \, above all we can ask or imagine.
