SUMMARY:The Blue Ribbons/Muddy Ruckus
DESCRIPTION:The Blue Ribbons return to the Lizard Lounge April 26th with Muddy Ruckus!\n\n\n$15/$20 \n \n“The Blue Ribbons’ latest album\, 2024’s “Forever\, But Not For Long\,” has plenty of pop hooks. Or rather\, it had plenty of them before the band took sledgehammers and scalpels to most of the pretty bits. \n“It took a while to get the bones of some of the tunes down just so we could break them\,” bandleader James Rohr told Herald with a laugh. \nLocal champs the Blue Ribbons are a pop band in the same way that the Beatles or Steely Dan or Television are pop bands in that they like pop but “aren’t too precious about the songs\,” Rohr said. \nJed Gottleib – Boston Herald \n \nMuddy Ruckus is a “darkly inventive” rock duo according to the New York Music Daily. Guitarist Ryan Flaherty and drummer Erika Stahl of Portland\, Maine play a grungy style of railroad indie punk blues. This stripped-down power-duo blends rootsy guitar and edgy percussion on a suitcase drum kit\, and is known for a full rock band sound.

SUMMARY:SESSION AMERICANA with Eleanor Buckland Night 4 with Mattie and Debbie!
DESCRIPTION:Session Americana return with Eleanor Buckland for the final night of their Lizard Lounge residency with special guests Mattie and Debbie!\n\n\nEvent is 21+ \nGA $25/$30 at the door \nReserved Tables $60 \nDoors at 7 \nSESSION AMERICANA is thrilled to return to the venue that saw the group gel into what has become a 20 year journey of accessing the joy. For years the band held down a weekly Lizard residency that not only formed the core of the band’s support but also witnessed the birth of many new songs and introduced a wide variety of musical guests to an unsuspecting crowd each week. SESSION AMERICANA with Eleanor Buckland will once again call The Lizard Lounge home for four consecutive nights this April 22-25 with special guests starting at 7:30 every night! \nFor the uninitiated SESSION AMERICANA is a cast of top-shelf players\, singers\, and writers who tour internationally\, taking their own songs\, plus hundreds more from the American songbook\, on the road. Whether you catch Session Americana in a rock hall or on a festival stage\, you’ll be a part of the intimate\, raucous scene these players built years ago at Toad\, the neighborhood bar where it all began in Cambridge\, Massachusetts. Looking back\, the group has had a natural\, almost inevitable evolution from a loose bunch of friends sitting around swapping songs in a bar\, to a hot-ticket weekly residency\, to a touring collective. Along the way\, the band has made nine records (so far)\, played clubs and festivals across the U.S. and Europe\, and developed deep collaborative bonds with a wide community of musicians. Session Americana’s diligent avoidance of music business “shoulds” has led the band down a quirky and joyful path through the music world. The result is evident in the musical prowess the players and singers bring to every show. Swapping instruments\, trading off lead vocals and sharing songwriting credits\, Session Americana is constantly exploring new collaborations and touring like a band out of time\, always searching for a welcoming and homey venue\, a long lunch with old friends\, and a good glass of wine. \nhttps://www.sessionamericana.com/ \n\n\nIrreverent\, bold\, and inventive\, Mattie & Debbie make a tender ruckus. The partnership of drummer/vocalist Sean Trischka (Carsie Blanton\, Oh Pep!\, Molly Tuttle) and bluegrass iconoclast Stash Wyslouch (Molsky’s Mountain Drifters\, The Deadly Gentlemen\, The Stash! Band) began long ago. With a penchant for the unexpected\, they live in their own little gray area of catchy love songs\, bizarre experimentalism\, and bluegrass gone rabid. \n \nMattie and Debbie

SUMMARY:Dub Apocalypse
DESCRIPTION:Dub Apocolypse returns to the Lizard Lounge April 19th!\n\n\n Dub Apocalypse is an instrumental dub reggae band from Boston\, MA. Band members are Tommy Benedetti-drums\,Van Martin-guitar\,Johnny Trama-guitar\,Aaron Bellamy-bass\,and Timo Shanko-sax/bass. The band came together in 2007\, led by drummer Tommy Benedetti and guitarist\, Johnny Trama.Tommy Benedetti is one of the founding members of American Reggae Pioneers\,John Brown’s Body. He brings a wealth of experience from the reggae/dub scene to the table\,having recorded albums for the legendary Shanachie Label\,John Zorn’s Tzadik Label (mixed by Bill Laswell)\,and is currently with John Brown’s Body on Easy Star Records. This history is combined with almost 2 decades of International touring\,as well as backing some of the giants of Jamaican music\,including The Meditations and Justin Hinds. \n Guitarist Johnny Trama adds a soulful blues touch to the Dub Apocalypse signature sound.Trama has spent time on the road with the great Ron Levy\, BB King’s organ player\, as well as many other regional rock and soul/r&b acts. Not long after Dub Apocalypse came together\, longtime friend Timo Shanko entered the fold.A dual threat on both bass and saxophone\,Shanko is a veteran of the blues and free jazz scene. He spent many years on the road with Blues legend\, Eddie Kirkland\, as well as with G. Love and Special Sauce. Shanko is also a prolific composer\,and his improvisational stylings are an integral part of the Dub Apocalypse sound. Although DA started out as more of a collective\,in the past few years the lineup has solidified with the addition of bassist Aaron Bellamy and guitarist Van Martin. Bellamy is a longtime fixture in the Boston funk scene\,and in combination with Benedetti \,they form the deep\,militant sound at the core of Dub Apocalypse. \n Originally hailing from Chicago\,Van Martin rounds out the lineup on guitar. Martin has much touring experience as well\, including appearances with Bernie Worrell and Big Daddy Kane. His sonic textures\,adventurous playing and songwriting have helped Dub Apocalypse take their sound to a new level. The DA sound is an evolving mix of original compositions and their own interpretations of classic Jamaican and UK songs and dub plates. Heavy hitting drum and bass grooves set the table. A twin guitar attack\, with Trama’s rhythmic anchor\,and Martin’s dub sonics\, swirl in and out in tandem. These pieces\, combined with Timo Shanko’s Coltrane inspired sax approach\, give Dub Apocalypse a

SUMMARY:Julie Rhodes and the Electric Company/Rougarou/Coyote Kolb
DESCRIPTION:An Evening with Julie Rhodes and the Electric Company at the Lizard Lounge April 18th with Rougarou & Coyote Kolb!\n\n\nEvent is 21+ \n$20 adv/$25 door \n \nBoston native Julie Rhodes musical career started “on a whim”. After singing along in the audience at a house show\, she was given some words of encouragement to write her own songs. That night\, she began writing her first song and before long she was recording her debut album with producer Jonah Tolchin. She released Bound to Meet the Devil in 2016 and it’s clear this powerhouse vocalist/songwriter is an artist on the rise. \nhttps://www.julierhodesmusic.com/ \n\n\nCoyote Kolb is the artist name of New England based singer songwriter and producer Chadley Kolb. Known for a mesmerizing brand of outlaw country blues\, folk\, and roots music\, Kolb has shared stages with artists like Taj Mahal\, Counting Crows\, The White Buffalo\, Deer Tick\, and many more. Kolb also composes ambient music with several songs in TV and Film over the years. He has been writing\, recording\, and performing original music since the late 1990’s\, (as Coyote Kolb since 2008.) \nCoyote Kolb \n\n\nOur local Rougarou can make good on the Cajun promise by adding a little banjo into the mix for a swampy\, jammy sound. \nIt’s deep-fried roadhouse music that makes for good ambience while smashing a glass beer bottle over someone’s head in an 80s action flick. You know\, one of those “odd couple” type of flicks where the straight-laced partner is always trying and failing to keep the wildcard partner in check.-Humpday News \nRougarou

SUMMARY:The Family Township/Thick Fuzz
DESCRIPTION:The Family Township return to the Lizard Lounge with Thick Fuzz\n\n\nEvent is 21+ \n$15/$20 Doors \nDoors at 8 \nThe Family Township\, AKA Township\, has been making their unique Boston-bred brand of vintage rock and roll for nearly 2 decades. With 7 studio albums\, 2 live albums\, 3 EPs\, 2 double singles\, and 1 collection\, the band has never stopped progressing\, evolving\, andperfecting. Initially known for their heavily mustached brand of driving rock\, the band has steadily grown their sound and writing to reflect these days rather than “those days.” Their most recent album\, 20th Century Wasters\, and double single\, Rosie Come Back /Autumn Bell\, have earned the band some of the highest praise of their career. Live shows burn with energy\,heart\, melody\, and sweat\, celebrating an ever-growing catalog\, depth\, and fanbase. \nhttps://township.bandcamp.com/ \n\n\nThis record was mostly recorded in our basement studio\, affectionally known as Tight Squeeze Studio\, with pieces also done at Zippah Recording Studios\, living rooms\, and a model ship workshop. Thick Fuzz is a power trio\, but this record wasn’t restricted to live arrangements. Layered guitars and vocal harmonies thicken the sound. A ton of guest musicians join us on these songs; vocals galore\, organ\, harmonica\, and horns – all making these songs the best versions of themselves. \nThick Fuzz

SUMMARY:Soggy Po Boys/Bruno Bruni
DESCRIPTION:Soggy Po Boys bring the patty back to the Lizard Lounge with Bruno Bruni April 4th!\n\n\n$20/$25 door \nDoors 8 \n \nAlthough New Hampshire isn’t the most obvious home for a group so devoted to the culture of The Big Easy\, the Soggy Po’ Boys seem genuine in their ambition to spread the word about jazz New Orleans style\, and they’re creating an accessible and fun way into this world.” \n-London Jazz News \n \nThe Soggy Po Boys\, native to New England\, have quickly become an institution. They are spreading the good news of New Orleans music across the northeast and beyond\, playing at concert halls and street corners; music festivals and burlesque festivals; bars and libraries; wherever the party requires. Part of the beauty of New Orleans music is that it’s celebrated and appreciated wherever it goes\, from the street to the theater. \n \n \nThe Po Boys formed in 2012 to shake the walls of a local club on a Fat Tuesday but have honed their sound and become more than a Mardi Gras centerpiece. Exploring the vast musical traditions of New Orleans and expanding their repertoire to look beyond NOLA jazz\, the band includes traditional Caribbean tunes (it’s been said that New Orleans is the northernmost city in the Caribbean)\, as well as Meters funk\, soul\, and brass band / street beat music. “…These guys have done their homework\, worked it out on the bandstand and put in the hours in the studio. It all adds up to a party you can bring with you when you want to treat your friends to a real good time.” -Ben Schenck of New Orleans’ Panorama Jazz Band”.There are a myriad of traditions that flow into New Orleans culture just as there are tributaries that feed the Mississippi\, and the Po Boys are eager to explore what makes the music of New Orleans so damn special. You’ll hear the heavy influence of the New Orleans sound across the band and in the stories told by their original tunes. Despite the scope of its sound\, the outfit is only seven people\, and thrives on the interplay and group dynamics that bring this music to life. \n\n\n Bruno Bruni is a band formed in Brazil by composer André Bruni\, who has a diverse musical background\, from running a professional recording studio in São Paulo. After releasing three studio albums\, the band has toured around Brazil with different formations since 2018. With influences that vary from Dave Holland to Gilberto Gil to Mario Kart and Hermeto Pascoal\, the band has been associated with Brazilian Music\, Funk and Jazz and also Video Game Music. The shows feature a large group and a lot of energy.
