SUMMARY:Molly Parden
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n  \nMolly Parden at the Lizard Lounge! \nFor all its unapproachable beauty\, the heart of Molly’s music is humble and profoundly human. They are songs that remind us that heartbreak isn’t simply another marketable human emotion\, but is more like a familiar place—a sacred space within all of us. We are all born with a deep sense of loss\, and great art has a way of articulating our personal tragedies—both the ones we’re born into\, and the ones we write and direct ourselves. It makes listening to “Rosemary” feel like falling into a dream or a distant memory—a beautiful reminder of something we’ve known all along. \nMolly Parden \nLizard Lounge is 21+ \nDeni is the electronic pop solo project of Deni Hlavinka (of The Western Den). Decisive\, impactful\, yet soft around the edges\, Deni’s music blurs the line between dark synth-driven electronica and tender alternative pop – creating a sound that is emphatic yet vulnerable. Lyrically\, her music explores the spaces between doubt\, introspective and the roaring explosion of self-actualization. Deni is layered\, immediate and visceral – the result of over a decade of experience as a multi-instrumentalist\, singer\, artist and producer. Deni’s music is both the tangled chaos of feeling in real-time — and the unraveling. \nDeni

SUMMARY:Old Jack Last Saturdays w/ Senseless Optimism and Kooked Out
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n\nOld Jack resumes their Last Saturday residency with Ruby Rose Fox and Senseless Optimism\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nSince their first show way back in 2008\, critics and fans knew there was something unique about OldJack. Hailed as the most underrated band in Boston\, with three guitars\, bass\, drums\, organ/keys\, a female background singer\, and a front man from yesterday\, OldJack belts out their original material with lots of harmonies\, big vocals\, and guitar solos galore. \nFrom being the underdog\, wild card winning\, reprieved Rock n’ Roll Rumble finalists to Boston Music Awards nominees and a staple of multiple music festivals in the northeast – OldJack has firmly planted their feet in the New England Music Scene\, making music for music’s sake. \nWhile the members have changed and the band has grown in numbers (they currently bring 7-8 people to the stage)\, the band is constantly developing and exploring its signature Old Soul Rock ‘n’ Roll sound. \nOldJack’s catalog includes multiple EPs since its creation\, Union Glory and Gone Before You Know\, a Maxi-Single and the While Label Single Series. In 2014\, they put out their first full-length album since the band’s debut\, What Is Home To You. The collection of eight tracks pays homage to the band’s influences and styles that have had critics wondering where to classify them for years. \nThe band has recently returned from taking time to work on new tracks and perfect their live show with the addition of multiple new members. Be on the lookout for OldJack in concert at a show near you\, and a second full-length album for release in 2016. \n\n\nBoston\, now Nashville-based artist Ruby Rose Fox is a cultural messenger of our turbulent modern times. Part actress\, director\, and writer\, Fox has never shied away from inventive ways to approach her art. In 2018\, Fox released her sophomore album Salt\, an utterly cinematic piece of experimental pop that features dense soundscapes built to accompany Fox’s wall-shattering vocals. \nThe sonically-rich record is enhanced via ASMR microphones that were used during the recording\, resulting in an ASMR-sensitive body of emotional\, political\, and personal songs—which\, when listened to with headphones—produces a next-level experience for the listener. Salt is the follow-up to Ruby Rose Fox’s debut album Domestic which reached number 8 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. \nRuby Rose Fox \n\n\nWith her exceptional talents as a multi-instrumentalist\, Brittany is leading a musical revolution through Senseless Optimism\, her groundbreaking project that is redefining the role of singer-songwriters in contemporary music. Her unique perspective and evocative Ivricism have earned her a devoted fanbase. \nSenseless Optimism on a trajectory towards national acclaim. \nSenseless Optimism

SUMMARY:Quadrapeg and City of Four!
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n  \nJoin us for a night with Quadrapeg and City of Four!\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nThree things bind this quartet together: friendship\, a love of jazz and funk\, and a shared sense of humor. In the 2010s\, Bassist Jameson Stewart\, organist Ben Blanchard\, drummer Patrick Dalton\, and guitarist Sam Crawford formed a close personal and musical rapport working together as sidemen in various styles. It wouldn’t be long until they tried playing their own instrumental music as a quartet. Today\, QuadraPeg brings joy and vitality to their compositions and improvisations\, always with a solid groove\, camaraderie\, and a touch of the absurd. \nQuadrapeg \n\n\n“When the jazz\, funk and progressive styles come together it can be a beautiful thing…Boston’s City of Four have been embracing this fusion for the past few years.” -Rob Duguay\, Rock n’Heavy \nCity of Four brings an original brand of modern groove-based jazz\, funk\, and fusion to music venues across Boston and New England. Featuring original melody-driven compositions by its members\, Mike Caudill on saxophone\, Cat Tremblay on keys\, Eric Falter on bass\, and Steve Wilkinson on drums\, City of Four’s sets include spontaneous improvisations and group interplay that make each live performance unique. \nThe band has received an “Outstanding Performance” recognition from DownBeat Magazine as a Blues/Pop/Rock group. DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n  \nJulie Rhode and the Electric Company with VANDIVER (Andrew Hammond) at the Lizard Lounge\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nBoston native Julie Rhodes musical career started “on a whim”. After singing along in the audience at a house show\, she was given some words of encouragement to write her own songs. That night\, she began writing her first song and before long she was recording her debut album with producer Jonah Tolchin. She released Bound to Meet the Devil in 2016 and it’s clear this powerhouse vocalist/songwriter is an artist on the rise.Julie Rhodes \n\n\nVandiver is the moniker of singer/songwriter Andrew Hammond. Suffice to say\, much has happened. \nLove\, marriage\, had a kid\, pandemic\, moved far away\, settled in\, had another kid\, moved even farther away. Through it all\, the unsettling sense that the world is on fire or on the verge of it\, at least. \nSo I wrote about it\, about this bizarre\, transformative block of time — the overwhelming joy of love and children\, of course\, but also the anxieties and adjustments that come with those precious responsibilities\, particularly in this climate. About giving up one version of ourselves in order to become another. \nThere were many moments when I sincerely doubted that this record would ever be completed\, that I’d ever finish writing it or we’d ever get to recording it\, but I also think that that additional time made this perhaps our most considered record to date. It’s a document of our conversations and hopes and concerns and feelings that I may have otherwise lost to time\, so I’m glad that I have it at least. I hope you get something out of it too. \nAs always\, my love and appreciation to my beloved band: Jeff\, JMC\, Chris\, Brooks and our unofficial sixth member\, Dave. I am so fortunate to have had them play and work on my songs for all these years. It was also important to me to have Cilla’s beautiful voice return for this album\, and I am so happy we made it happen. This record really reflects my strongest musical bonds — put simply: it sounds like us. \nThank you for listening\, and I hope you enjoy it!

SUMMARY:Sway Wild
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS \nSway Wild at the Lizard Lounge! \n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nSway Wild was born on a small island in the Salish Sea. \nFollowing a two-month sailing voyage through the remote anchorages of British Columbia\, acclaimed indie-folk duo Dave McGraw & Mandy Fer\, joined by longtime friend Thom Lord\, returned to their San Juan Island\, Washington home still hungry to explore. The result was nothing short of an artistic epiphany; an evolution of sound that called out loudly for a new name. Sway Wild released its self-titled debut album worldwide in 2019. \nSway Wild’s songs navigate the corners of rock\, folk\, pop\, jazz\, prog\, and funk. At its nucleus\, it is music saturated in gratitude for well-lived lives and sympathetic to our shared humanity. McGraw says\, “We want to make music that allows people to feel what they need to feel.” Fer and McGraw’s gorgeous harmonies paired with moving lyrics serve to both process and share their jubilation\, grief\, and frustration with a complex and deeply imperfect society. \nPerhaps most remarkable is Fer’s astonishing electric guitar work. Using her beloved Fender Stratocaster for both lead guitar pyrotechnics and chordal rhythms\, often at the same time\, Fer challenges the listener to comprehend how she manages to extract so much feeling from six strings and an amplifier. With this album\, laden with Fer’s potent electric guitar solos\, she has decisively placed herself within the vanguard of female guitarists claiming their rightful place in an artistic pantheon that has historically been dominated by men. McGraw and Lord\, who met as wildlife biologists studying endangered California condors in the Grand Canyon\, provide unwavering support for Fer’s formidable musicianship. \nSway Wild was recorded in Portland\, Oregon at The Hallowed Halls\, a historic Carnegie Library\, by engineer Justin Phelps (Cake\, Galactic\, Bob Weir)\, whose expertise at the helm is tangible in the warmth and presence of the finished product. An impressive cadre of the band’s friends and heroes brings the songs to their full\, frenzied potential. Birds of Chicago and Sean Hayes provide guest vocals\, members of MarchFourth add the irresistible energy of a full horn section\, and cellists Skip VonKuske (Portland Cello Project) and Anna Fritz\, along with Anna Tivel on violin\, contribute the brooding dynamism of bowed strings. \nFor Fer and McGraw\, the sailing expedition served as a kind of sabbatical from seven years of heavy international touring\, sharing stages with the likes of Iron & Wine\, Gregory Alan Isakov\, and Mandolin Orange. The days on the boat were filled reading books in quiet green coves\, watching humpback whales and black bears for hours on end\, and talking over simple dinners of freshly baked bread and fish caught from a creaky plastic rowboat. Inspired by their journey\, the three former band mates returned to their pastoral island and took to playing music in Fer and McGraw’s living room\, with no aspirations other than to enjoy the process of creation. \nIn the ensuing months\, Fer and McGraw departed from their well-established acoustic approach in almost shocking fashion\, each returning to the instruments on which they began their respective musical trajectories as teenagers. With Fer refocused on electric guitar\, McGraw behind a drum kit for the first time in over a decade\, and Lord on electric bass\, the trio allowed themselves to rediscover everything they loved about making music. This soon gave birth to a creative torrent of new songs\, and the trio emerged as a fully formed band\, organically and unexpectedly\, with a sound transformed. With a fresh sense of purpose\, the new material was honed on tours across the U.S. and in Europe\, performing alongside band favorites Lake Street Dive\, Charlie Hunter Trio and others. \nThe name Sway Wild evokes a specific feeling. From the beginning\, Fer\, McGraw\, and Lord intended this band\, and this album\, to reflect what the endeavor felt like to them: a pathway to the uninhibited unfiltered core that we all possess. The words themselves are an invitation\, if not a command\, to seek out this untainted part of ourselves. In many ways\, Sway Wild’s music is the product of truly wild places\, and\, like ribbons of light piercing a dark green canopy overhead; it can help us find the wildness that is unquestionably still within us. \nSway Wild

SUMMARY:The Gravel Pit with The Mommyheads and Per Sunding of Eggstone
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n \nGravel Pit\, the Mommyheads and Per Sunding of Eggstone!\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nIn 1995\, Jed Parish\, Lucky Jackson\, Ed Valauskas and Pete Caldes came to Boston as The Gravel Pit—an accomplished young rock band from New Haven\, CT\, seasoned by a few years of high-energy club gigs and a solid indie debut (Crash Land\, on Feralette Records) based on influences like the Clash and The Undertones. Gradually incorporating a range of influences from mod to metal and invested with Parish’s extraordinary gifts as a songwriter and singer\, the band quickly generated a buzz on the Boston scene. Their early fans included such local pop stars as Kay Hanley and Jen Trynin\, whose spirited support helped to bring the Pit to the attention of their Boston-based indie label\, Q Division Records. \nWithin a year of their arrival in Boston\, The Gravel Pit released the first of four Q Division releases. The Gravel Pit Manifesto (with pop-maestro producer Mike Denneen)\, was a brightly original\, power-pop gem that earned them Best Indie Album and Best New Band at the 1996 Boston Music Awards. Their wildly energetic live shows and diverse catalogue of power-pop gems kept the momentum going strong for the next three years. They played hundreds of dates\, opened for acts as diverse as Graham Parker\, Cheap Trick\, Gang of Four\, Morphine\, Guided By Voices\, Nada Surf and They Might Be Giants and released three more records on Q\,: 1997’s full-length No One Here Gets In For Free—Rare and Unreleased 1989 – 1997;the 1998 hit single “Favorite\,” produced by Denneen; and 1999’s full-length Silver Gorilla\, also with Denneen\, which amassed critical raves across the country\, from Raygun to Entertainment Weekly. The Gravel Pit won the Boston Regional Poll at The 1st Annual Independent Music Awards. \nAfter their national Silver Gorilla tour\, without the big break of a major label deal and commercial exposure\, the band decided to tone down their intense live performance schedule and spread out their efforts for a while. Valauskas\, Jackson and Caldes formed The Gentlemen\, a hugely popular hard-rock act\, with Mike Gent of the Figgs. Parish has been exploring the vast and varied terrain of his musical tastes as a solo artist. \nTheir separate explorations did not diminish their collective chemistry. With the release of 2001’s Mass Avenue Freeze-out on Q Division\, The Gravel Pit came together to stake another claim as one of the most inspired power-pop outfits on the American independent music scene. \nThe Gravel Pit contributed a cover of the Miracle Legion song “Closer to the Wall” for the 2009 Mark Mulcahy tribute album “Ciao My Shining Star”. It appears as a bonus track available on the deluxe edition. SUMMARY:The Gravel Pit (Show 2) with The Barnies
DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS\n\nBy popular demand\, we’ve added another Gravel Pit show!\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n\n\nIn 1995\, Jed Parish\, Lucky Jackson\, Ed Valauskas and Pete Caldes came to Boston as The Gravel Pit—an accomplished young rock band from New Haven\, CT\, seasoned by a few years of high-energy club gigs and a solid indie debut (Crash Land\, on Feralette Records) based on influences like the Clash and The Undertones. On September 20\, 2009 Jed Parish\, Ed Valauskas & Pete Caldes performed at the release party for the album with Frank Black and Ray Neal on Black’s contribution to the album\, ‘Bill Jocko’\, at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Valauskas\, Caldes & Neal remained on stage to perform two Pixies songs ‘Cactus’ and ‘Gouge Away’. \nThe band released their first album in 13 years\, Serpent Umbrella\, in 2014. \nThe Gravel Pit \n\n\nThe Barnies \nEarly-90’s Boston (ok\, Somerville) band loved by *dozens* of fans in the tri-square area (Union\, Davis\, and Central). \nThe Barnies

The album is packed with 14 red hot tracks that blend psychedelic rock\, punk blues and fiery lyrics into a sound that’s uniquely Muddy Ruckus. \n“Using the striking\, heavy language of romanticism\, the emotional impact of the words is not so much overwhelming as it is effective. \nRare that a song can accomplish what classic literature sought to.” – Gas Mask Magazine \n“Legit dance hall crashers” – Glide Magazine \n“Their music is down and dirty\, steeped in the mud of the Mississippi delta and the Louisiana swamps\, but also in the mud and grime of Woodstock and the mosh pit at an outdoor punk show.” – Maine Today \n“Infectious\, foot-stomping Americana tunes. Similar to the White Stripes in duo power\, Muddy Ruckus delivers a full-bodied sound with nothing but a guitar and suitcase drums.”-The Sound \n“The White Stripes of Delta Blues” – James Montgomery \n \nMuddy Ruckus
