While d’Elf is primarily an instrumental band\, Brahim often added his passionate vocals to the mix\, and his haunting song Sidi Rabi was a highlight for fans and band alike. He performed and recorded with an amazing list of artists including Hassan Hakmoun\, Morphine\, Residente\, Tinariwen\, Peter Gabriel\, Medeski Martin & Wood\,L. Subramaniam\, Pete Seeger & Harry Belafonte to name only a few. Wewill pay tribute to our departed friend with a night of songs that he inspired\, as well as some of his original songs. The line up for this show features Lyle Brewer (guitar)\, Paul Schultheis (keyboards)\, Mister Rourke (turntables)\, Mike Rivard (bass & sintir)\, Dean Johnston(drums)\, along with special guests. \nClub d’Elf has been helping audiences lose track of time for twenty six years with its mesmerizing synthesis of Moroccan traditional music and electronic\, dubbed-out funk. Circling about bassist/composer MikeRivard\, each performance features a different line-up\, drawn from aconstellation of some of the most creative improvisers from the jazz\,DJ\, rock & world music scenes of Boston\, NYC and beyond. It’s undeniable watching Jones who usually performs live as a trio on her gnarly 1960s Sears Roebuck Silvertone guitar with her life and musical partner (Brian Dowd) holding the heartbeat on the drums. \n\nThey’re “everything that’s good about rock and roll” says GRAMMY-winning icon Lucinda Williams. \n\nAnd like Williams\, Jones’s road has been hard fought. Cutting their teeth on mics literally and metaphorically across the US for the past decade\, Jones’s free-wheeling\, do-it-yourself lifestyle is the stuff of modern folklore. With few prospects when the Florida-raised couple first moved to Nashville in 2017\, they made rent by stacking beers at the local Piggly Wiggly. A chameleon of a songwriter\, Jones has since found other ways to pay the bills\, licensing songs for pop projects to the likes of Guinness and Google\, but the music the couple creates cuts deeper than that. It’s personal. \nCatchy\, yet raw and arrestingly sincere\, it’s no wonder Jones’s cult following has been steadily growing since the release of their seminal record Stories Up High (2022) produced by Andrjia Tokic (Alabama Shakes\, Langhorne Slim) of the famed Bomb Shelter in East Nashville. Though the record wrestles with themes of depression and the meaning of life\, the vibes are more bittersweet than sad. Jones says “Stories Up High was me writing what I needed to hear. It taught me to let go. Let my ego die…it was deeply healing and freeing. It’s where I live now”. \nAs Laney Jones and the Spirits open for bands like The Heartless Bastards and Kurt Vile — a night where Jones sold so much merch that the theater owner out of pure amazement doubled their opening band slot pay — one thing is clear\, their live punk energy is something to witness. \nJones’s newest song\, “Stay At Home\,” released this February is an acid lick taste of where the band is heading. Sonically rich and lofi\, it hints of Doolittle-era Pixies without the stale\, microwaved mouthfeel of someone trying to reheat the 90s grunge scene. At the core\, as usual\, it’s their songwriting that begs more from the listener. She is founder of Lindsey O’Neill Yoga & Writing\, teaches poetry at Boston’s GrubStreet\, and has been part of the Lizard Lounge poetry slam and spoken word scene since 2016. Lindsey infuses her creative writing classes with contemplative practices to foster compassionate awareness\, distill an authentic voice\, and enhance sustainable creativity. She believes both awareness building practices and the creative arts are capable of inspiring community connection leading to social change. Lindsey holds a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher certification from The New England School of Integrative Yoga Therapeutics\, a City of Boston Artist Certification\, and an MFA in Poetry from Lesley University. Lindsey has had poems published in FUSION magazine\, Hare’s Paw Literary Journal\, and Mass Poetry’s “Poem of the Moment.” She is currently at work on her first (and second) poetry collections.

Her sound is defined by ethereal\, escapist soundscapes that transcend genres\, aided by her soulful\, powerful vocals. She’s been featured on albums by Armand Hammer\, Koncept Jackson\, and Big Flowers. \nMaliyah:North Carolina-born and Boston-based Maliyah creates alternative R&B that feels like a spiritual awakening when you press play. Her 2024 EP FLORIDA WATER is a body of work that exemplifies her skill at bending genres\, as she joins the sounds of her punk and pop-influenced teenage years with instrumentation and melodies inspired by the sonic culture of Arabia. \nBorboleta:Borboleta\, from Providence\, Rhode Island\, is a singer who pairs pop sensibilities with ethereal R&B stylings. As well as Borboleta’s musical inspirations (ranging from Frank Ocean\, Kari Faux and Missy Elliot\, to classic rock and Black spiritual jazz from the 60s and 70s)\, the natural world is key to unlocking their sound. This blend of lighthearted pop melodies and crucial messaging is what makes their debut EP\, Until That Time\, so essential. They are working on the follow up to Until That Time now\, to be released by EveryDejaVu later this year. \nOnbloom: Onbloom\, a Boston based artist\, transcends her legacy through music. With genres like alternative r&b and electronic on her newest demo tape\, “swept under the rug\,” she continues to emphasize the power of vulnerability. She considers herself a vessel for all the yearners out there! Onbloom is set to drop a new single in September. \n \nEveryDejaVu started as a blog in 2012. It was a small passion project mainly as a way to have a platform to talk about our favorite music and artists. After building relationships with artists and being presented the chance to premiere music\, we began curating our own projects. The pre-label releases were a success in our eyes. But while her mother was sick with a twelve-year illness\, Diggs felt unable to share the whole truth. Her first LP\, 2018’s Breastfed\, was largely about her mom\, but it wasn’t until her passing that Diggs was free to use songwriting to process. “Sharing my grieving experience has resonated with people; they’re excited to hear something that’s not all good\,” notes Diggs. To help cope\, Diggs and her husband Jacob Rosazza—also her musical collaborator—rescued an ex-racing dog\, Quincy. Blazing horns meet mighty hooks for a progressive mix fit to fill any dancefloor. \nThe band’s tightly-honed grooves and infectious sound has shared the stage with like-minded practitioners such as Lee Fields & the Expressions\, Durand Jones & the Indications\, the Budos Band\, Grupo Fantasma\, Orgone\, Ikebe Shakedown\, and Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars. Since typical genre descriptions fail to fully capture the scope of the Macrotones sound\, new monikers need exploration: imperial funk\, astrobeat\, or even “a soundtrack for spies” all fit. \nAfter numerous instrumental LP’s and EP’s released on Music ADD\, a new era for the band began in 2019 when friend and occasional guest vocalist Phil Desisto joined full time. Phil’s commanding and gritty vocals\, a bit like Bobby Womack meets Mike Patton\, saw the band embrace more classic soul sounds from the ‘6os and ’70s\, while retaining their edgy funk. \nJune 2024 finally saw the release of ‘From The Void’\, their new LP with Phil on all 10 tracks. A feature on WBUR’s album guide remarked that “the LP showcases soulful lead vocals along with the psychedelic grooves the Macrotones have mastered.” This fall\, they will follow up with an instrumental version of the album featuring two new instrumental songs not featured on the original record\, and celebrate with a release party at the Lizard Lounge. \n\n\nBased out of various areas of New England\, Zamova is a jazz-fusion group that was formed in 2019 when Grammy award winning producer\, Motif Alumni & his company The Rucker Collective joined forces with the owners behind one of Boston’s most prominent record stores\, Music Research Library.
