SUMMARY:The Coulibaly Trio/Clamb
DESCRIPTION:Imad Coulibaly Trio and Clamb live at the Lizard Lounge March 21st!\n\n\nEvent is 21+$15/$20 \nImad Coulibaly is an independent artist hailing from Boston\, Massachusetts. He started playing drums at the age of 4 years old. Being surrounded by music at home and in church\, Imad became passionate about music. He kick started his music career after winning the Umass Amherst Jazz Festival for “ Best Jazz Trio” and opening for the Chris Potter Quartet. Imad Coulibaly currently plays in his jazz/fusion hip hop group Soul Space. He is also a live/session and touring drummer working with artists such as Rugawd\, Martin Gonzalez\, David Mrakpor\, King Chino\, Dave Powell\, Rob Araujo and Vooo. Imad’s primary focus is on live/session and touring gigs as well as education in music to inspire drummers of all ages and backgrounds. \n \n\n\nCLAMB was born out of a Dadaist desire to create music free from societal norms of perfection. They dig deep into the groove of soulful American music from the infinite James Brown and Alice Coltrane to the aether of seventies European krautrock pioneers like Cluster and Harmonia to patiently sketch foreign landscapes from the ground up. Clamb are devoted to keeping an attitude of acceptance in their largely-improvised songs\, choosing a direction and exploring its corners and nuances to tell stories without words. \nClamb’s tonal palette features Peter Danilchuk’s synths blissfully wiggling through the air\, Jameson Stewart’s mythical gold-glitter-encrusted fretless bass sending terrestrial energy rippling through a rogue’s gallery of cheap pedals\, Joshua Merhar’s playful drumming that constantly eggs the band onward to new hemispheres of groove\, and in 2022 Clamb introduced guitar hero and best friend Sam Crawford whose tonal character and improvisational voice have propelled the band’s ensemble playing further into the fever-dream-realm than ever expected. Clamb hopes they have cornered the market on the Venn diagram intersection of 60s psych nerds raised on Soft Machine Volume 2 and their kids who have spent the past decade gorging on Brainfeeder and Meshuggah. It is Clamb’s distinct wish that each performance function as a Polaroid of the exact moment of its creation\, never to be repeated quite the same way ever again\, remaining both pensive yet hard-grooving all the same.

DESCRIPTION:Local heroes Daydream host Vermont’s Moondogs March 28th at the Lizard Lounge!\n\n\nDaydream is a Roots Jam Band that blends Americana\, soulful songwriting\, and hard-driving Rock n’ Roll with the free improvisation of Jam pioneers like the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers. Over the past three and a half years\, the band has honed its act at classic Vermont venues like Nectar’s and Higher Ground\, as well as elsewhere across New England. Their recently released record ‘Trialogues’\, recorded at Berklee studios in Boston\, exemplifies the dynamic interplay of the trio’s musicianship\, and the collaborative compositions that are defining the young group’s distinct artistic voice. \nMoondogs

SUMMARY:Soggy Po Boys/Bruno Bruni
DESCRIPTION:Soggy Po Boys bring the patty back to the Lizard Lounge with Bruno Bruni April 4th!\n\n\n$20/$25 door \nDoors 8 \n \nAlthough New Hampshire isn’t the most obvious home for a group so devoted to the culture of The Big Easy\, the Soggy Po’ Boys seem genuine in their ambition to spread the word about jazz New Orleans style\, and they’re creating an accessible and fun way into this world.” \n-London Jazz News \n \nThe Soggy Po Boys\, native to New England\, have quickly become an institution. They are spreading the good news of New Orleans music across the northeast and beyond\, playing at concert halls and street corners; music festivals and burlesque festivals; bars and libraries; wherever the party requires. Part of the beauty of New Orleans music is that it’s celebrated and appreciated wherever it goes\, from the street to the theater. \n \n \nThe Po Boys formed in 2012 to shake the walls of a local club on a Fat Tuesday but have honed their sound and become more than a Mardi Gras centerpiece. Exploring the vast musical traditions of New Orleans and expanding their repertoire to look beyond NOLA jazz\, the band includes traditional Caribbean tunes (it’s been said that New Orleans is the northernmost city in the Caribbean)\, as well as Meters funk\, soul\, and brass band / street beat music. “…These guys have done their homework\, worked it out on the bandstand and put in the hours in the studio. It all adds up to a party you can bring with you when you want to treat your friends to a real good time.” -Ben Schenck of New Orleans’ Panorama Jazz Band”.There are a myriad of traditions that flow into New Orleans culture just as there are tributaries that feed the Mississippi\, and the Po Boys are eager to explore what makes the music of New Orleans so damn special. You’ll hear the heavy influence of the New Orleans sound across the band and in the stories told by their original tunes. Despite the scope of its sound\, the outfit is only seven people\, and thrives on the interplay and group dynamics that bring this music to life. \n\n\n Bruno Bruni is a band formed in Brazil by composer André Bruni\, who has a diverse musical background\, from running a professional recording studio in São Paulo. After releasing three studio albums\, the band has toured around Brazil with different formations since 2018. With influences that vary from Dave Holland to Gilberto Gil to Mario Kart and Hermeto Pascoal\, the band has been associated with Brazilian Music\, Funk and Jazz and also Video Game Music. The shows feature a large group and a lot of energy.

SUMMARY:Skunk Jesus/Astronomico
DESCRIPTION:Skunk Jesus and Astronomico live at the Lizard Lounge April 9th!\n\n\nExperience the sounds of Skunk Jesus\, a band that emerged from the creative minds of Riley Stockwell and Mike Dettorre in 2015. Together with a rotating cast of top musicians from New England\, they create an improvisational art form that delves into the unknown\, transforming initial ideas into fully formed pieces of music on the spot. Drawing inspiration from free jazz\, psychedelia\, and experimental grooves\, Skunk Jesus offers a dark and whimsical journey into uncharted musical territories. \nhttps://m.facebook.com/skunkjesus/ \n\n\nMassachusetts based Astronomico released their second full length album\, Bridge of Butter Magnetic\, at the end of 2022 as a follow up to their first release\, Bring All Your Ships home. TThis body of music reflects the band’s affinity to meld organ funk grooves and Afro Latin rhythms with raw rock energy and exploratory jazz improvisation while leaning into the psychedelic and the abstract. \nAstronomico is: \nNina Ott – Hammond organ\, piano\, keys \nSteve Fell – guitar \nChris Lopes – bass/percussion \nJared Seabrook – drums \nTheir music can be heard at astronomico.bandcamp.com and on all streaming platforms.

Initially known for their heavily mustached brand of driving rock\, the band has steadily grown their sound and writing to reflect these days rather than “those days.” Their most recent album\, 20th Century Wasters\, and double single\, Rosie Come Back /Autumn Bell\, have earned the band some of the highest praise of their career. Live shows burn with energy\,heart\, melody\, and sweat\, celebrating an ever-growing catalog\, depth\, and fanbase. \nhttps://township.bandcamp.com/ \n\n\nThis record was mostly recorded in our basement studio\, affectionally known as Tight Squeeze Studio\, with pieces also done at Zippah Recording Studios\, living rooms\, and a model ship workshop. Thick Fuzz is a power trio\, but this record wasn’t restricted to live arrangements. Layered guitars and vocal harmonies thicken the sound. A ton of guest musicians join us on these songs; vocals galore\, organ\, harmonica\, and horns – all making these songs the best versions of themselves. \nThick Fuzz
