SUMMARY:I Get Wild "Plays Remain In Light"/Thank God for Science
DESCRIPTION:Thank God For Science returns to the Lizard Lounge with I Get Wild Plays “Remain In Light” October 9th!\n\n\n$15/$20 Door \nDoors 7 \n \nThank God For Science is a one of a kind musical medium that explores sonic and musical vocabularies. \nJeremy Moses Curtis (Booker T\, Jeffrey Foucault) compiled years of home studio demos and with the help of some trusted musicians\, shaped them into an instrumental record titled: “Volume One”. The core studio band of drummer Peter MacLean (Maceo Parker)\, The Blue Ribbons’ James Rohr on keyboards / Mike Castellana on guitar\, recorded the initial basics over a weekend with the help of producer Marc Pinansky. In the following months\, Laurence Scudder (Brothers McCann) added his refined blend of natural and effected Viola while Barry Rothman (Radio Swan) channeled sounds from the ether via vintage turntables and effect pedals to round out a recording whose unique aural atmosphere is wholly its own. Since then\, the players have performed dozens of shows\, released “Live”\, “Humans Are Special” and coalesced into what is now known as Thank God For Science: a group that continues to search for harmony\, chaos\, enlightenment\, and every note in between. \nThank God For Science \nThank God For Science Insta \n\n\nNot a tribute. Not a nostalgia trip. Not a museum piece. \nSince 2016\, we’ve been destroying the boundary between tribute and transformation. This isn’t about perfect recreation—it’s about mindful and continual reinterpretation. \nWe don’t cover songs. We metabolize them. \nEvery performance is an experiment. Every show is an exploration and celebration of a shared musical memory. We’re not here to make you comfortable. We’re here to make you feel something at once familiar and unexpected. \nTalking Heads created a body of work that challenged everything. We continue that mission—one deconstruction party at a time. \nI Get Wild \nI Get Wild Insta \nI Get Wild Facebook

DESCRIPTION:Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured poet Michelle LaPoetica Richardson October 12th!\n\n\n$10 \nMichelle LaPoetica Richardsonis a bilingual poet\, spoken word artist\, artivist\, and love and unity advocate deeply rooted in the city of Lynn\, Massachusetts. In April 2025\, she was appointed as the first-ever Poet Laureate of Lynn\, a historic recognition of her tireless commitment to poetry\, public art\, and creative community engagement in her beloved City of Lynn\, Massachusetts\, across the North Shore and beyond. \nProud of her Dominican roots and Afro-Caribbean lineage\, Michelle moves through the world as a vessel for healing\, truth\, and transformation. Her work—whether on stage\, on the sidewalk\, or behind the scenes—is grounded in the belief that art can uplift\, empower\, and create spaces for collective liberation. She is the visionary founder of DENCITY\, a creative initiative that amplifies underrepresented voices through open mics\, spoken word\, public installations\, and inclusive programming that invites people of all backgrounds to witness themselves and each other in full color and spirit. \nMichelle’s poetry and curatorial projects open center themes of identity\, resilience\, ancestry\, joy\, and belonging. She is known for cultivating vibrant open mic spaces for both youth and adults\, and for bringing love-infused artistry to civic conversations\, neighborhood corners\, classrooms\, and cultural stages. Her work lives at the intersection of language justice\, community storytelling\, and artistic activism\, and she often collaborates with municipalities\, grassroots organizations\, and cultural institutions to bridge art with action. \nThis spring and summer\, as Lynn’s Poet Laureate\, Michelle is leading a powerful series of public ARTivations throughout the city—projects that will speak literally from the ground up\, weaving poetry into the fabric of everyday life and honoring the spirit\, strength\, and stories of the community. While each initiative is distinct\, they all share Michelle’s hallmark of intentionality\, inclusion\, and a fierce commitment to love as practice. \nWith a background in interpretation\, education\, and community outreach\, Michelle has served as a mentor\, speaker\, and curator across countless stages\, and her work continues to echo in hearts\, alleyways\, classrooms\, and city halls. Through every poem\, every partnership\, and every platform she creates\, Michelle LaPoetica Richardson invites us to remember: we belong\, we matter\, and we rise—together.

SUMMARY:Joey Trio/Quadrapeg
DESCRIPTION:Joey Thieman Trio and Quadrapege live at the Lizard Lounge Oct 16th!\n\n\nThree things bind this quartet together: friendship\, a love of jazz and funk\, and a shared sense of humor. In the 2010s\, Bassist Jameson Stewart\, organist Ben Blanchard\, drummer Patrick Dalton\, and guitarist Sam Crawford formed a close personal and musical rapport working together as sidemen in various styles. It wouldn’t be long until they tried playing their own instrumental music as a quartet. Today\, QuadraPeg brings joy and vitality to their compositions and improvisations\, always with a solid groove\, camaraderie\, and a touch of the absurd. \nQuadrapeg \n\n\nJoey Thieman is a multi-instrumentalist who moved to the Boston area in 2022 after living and performing in Kentucky for nearly 20 years. He plays a wide variety of styles and furthermore mixes styles seamlessly. In a jazz setting he reimagines the works of bands such as Nirvana\, Radiohead\, Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles mixing them with jazz\, classical\, and funk. During a typical performance he switches between organ\, trumpet\, piano\, singing and guitar at will. His show represents his wide range of musical interests\, and is meant to take the audience on an emotional journey. \njoeythieman.com \nIG- @josephthieman

SUMMARY:Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam-Carol Johnson
DESCRIPTION:The Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured poet Carol Johnson\n\n\n$10 \nCarol Johnson is a poet of remembrance\, resistance\, and reclamation. Born into the lineage of Jamestown\, an African American town founded by her fourth great-grandfather Ervin James in South Carolina\, Carol carries the oral traditions of her ancestors with reverence and fire. Her poetry is both witness and offering\, rooted in the rich soil of Black southern life and the enduring legacy of the African diaspora. Her debut poetry collection\, O’Africa\, threads together generations of oral wisdom\, ancestral resilience\, and sharecropper soil\, birthing a tapestry of Pan-African memory\, part poetry\, part prose\, that follows generations of the James family across time\, memory\, and place. Her poems aren’t linear; instead\, they circle and spiral like gospel songs and griot tales—an embodied archive of survival\, faith\, and love. They remember. They reclaim. Spoken with the Sankofa bird perched on her shoulder\, weaving memory\, legacy\, and lyricism into every line\, Carol’s work loops backward to move forward\, retrieving lost histories.Whether performing on stage or writing at her kitchen table\, Carol invokes the sacred responsibility of the storyteller. Her work is especially resonant for those exploring identity\, healing\, and intergenerational legacy. It is a way of speaking truth and conjuring new futures from the bones of the past\, creating space for what has been silenced\, buried\, or forgotten.

SUMMARY:Mike Viola Live at the Lizard Lounge
DESCRIPTION:Mike Viola returns to the Lizard Lounge October 22nd!\n\n\n$20 adv/$25 doors \nDoors at 7 \n \nMike Viola is a producer\, musician\, songwriter and singer. Decades into his career his music continues to resonate with and inspire new generations of musicians and music lovers. Starting in 2019 Viola hit a prolific streak and released fan favorite records The American Egypt\, Godmuffin\, and Paul McCarthy\, all recorded in his Los Angeles studio Barebones. His recent albums have garnered a whole new fan base and sold out shows around the US. His latest album\, “Rock Of Boston”\, was released on September 20th 2024 on Good Morning Monkey/Grand Phony in the US\, Lojinx in Europe and SONY Japan and an international tour followed. \nRock Of Boston was recorded over the winter of 2023 on ½” tape at Barebones\, Viola’s home studio in Los Angeles. Once again joined by his friends Jake Sinclair on bass and Brendon Urie on drums. Viola says\, “I’m always writing songs\, or pieces of songs\, or riffs. My writing process changes every song\, so I never get trapped in a method. I let the song lead me. While I was on a world tour playing guitar for Panic at The Disco\, I wrote the bulk of this record on the bus between soundcheck and showtime. On the days off\, I’d find a recording studio wherever we were and I’d book studio time to sneak away to lay down a few ideas. When the tour finished\, Jake and Brendon came home to LA and we never stopped playing music together. We just switched from touring with Panic! to recording Rock Of Boston pretty seamlessly without a break. Maybe that’s why the riffs seem bigger on this record\, we had spent all those months in hockey arenas around the world playing big music.” \nhttps://www.mikeviola.com/#main

SUMMARY:Ali McGuirk Watertop Release at the Lizard Lounge Night 1
DESCRIPTION:Ali McGuirk returns to the Lizard Lounge for a two night to celebrate her latest release “Watertop” Oct 23rd & 24th!\n\n\n$22/25 Door \nDoors 7 \n \nAli McGuirk has never been a church mouse. Her 2022 album\, Til It’s Gone\, was met with widespread acclaim and praised for its “earthy tenderness and smart introspection” (Boston Herald). She now returns with a new album\, Watertop\,  that elevates her signature soulful and smoldering sound to new heights—this time\, the production is richer\, and the message is unflinching. \nIt’s hard to pinpoint the exact moment that led to the freedom in McGuirk’s songwriting on “Watertop.” Perhaps it was when she began treating social activism—and her care for others—as a spiritual practice. This transformation gave Watertop its raison d’etre\, which comes at you quickly with the opening track\, “Love Goes First.” With Watertop McGuirk takes a magnifying glass to the complexities of human and societal value\, unraveling the meanings of care\, empathy\, love\, and even greed. At first listen\, her words aren’t always what they seem. But the richness of McGuirk’s voice\, the lucidity of her production\, and the power of her delivery guide you to the truth. \n \nAli McGuirk

SUMMARY:Night of the Singing Bass Players with Miss Christine and Davina
DESCRIPTION:Miss Christine and Davina team up paying tribute to the Police and Paul Mccartney showcasing the versatility of the singing bassists Oct 29.\n\n\n$15/$20 door \nDoors 7 \n \nChristine Moad (they/them) shatters preconceived notions and societal expectations with their music. Moad\, a bassist and singer-songwriter recording under the moniker Miss Christine\, blends indie rock with blues and soul influences\, delivered with a defiant punk attitude to open listeners’ minds to possibilities beyond the binary. Their exploration of their own genderqueer and asexual identity inspires their lyrics\, resulting in songs that are both intensely personal while simultaneously challenging the harmful stereotypes and expectations associated with gender and sexuality. Even the name Miss Christine turns the gender binary on its head. The “Miss” has nothing to do with womanhood and everything to do with absence and longing. In this case\, it’s the longing for truth and freedom from misguided external perceptions. \nSince 2023\, Miss Christine has captivated audiences at colleges and youth organizations across the nation with their powerful ‘Empowering Identities’ presentation\, sharing their journey of discovering their gender identity and asexuality\, inspiring young people to explore and embrace their own truths. \nMiss Christine \nDavina Yannetty (she/her) is a Boston-based multi-instrumentalist and has been dubbed a “musical Swiss army knife” by local colleagues. Armed with an encyclopedic pop music repertoire\, Davina began her full-time career as a piano bar entertainer in 2011\, impressing scores of folks all over the US and Europe\, as well as passengers on Norwegian Cruise Lines. She is also the bass player and frontwoman of Boston-based yacht rock tribute band The Buoys of Summer. Hobbies include baking pizza\, eating pizza\, and coming up with ideas for new kinds of pizza.
