SUMMARY:Ohm Foam "Suds" Album Release with Quantum Moon
DESCRIPTION:Ohm Foam returns to the Lizard Lounge Sept 3rd for the release of their album "Suds" with Quantum Moon!\n\n\nOhm Foam\, the instrumental psych power trio from Boston (by way of Andromeda)\, prepares to unveil its latest concoction – their second LP entitled Suds. Consisting of Charlie Gargano (guitar)\, Renee Goudreau (bass guitar)\, and Billy Leva (drums)\, the group further advances the evolution of “cosmic fungal rock” – that is\, wailing guitar solos against otherworldly backing loops\, primal yet dynamic drum and bass grooves\, and psyched out improv passages. On Suds\, this blend is augmented by keyboards\, percussion\, and trumpet. The songs – brighter\, funkier\, and more vibrant this time around – segue together like pools of energized plasma. On September 3rd\, prepare to bathe in Suds. \nOhm Foam \n\n\n“Quantum Moon\, a four piece outfit headed by local trumpeter Matt Kelly\, isn’t easily pinned to a genre. Fusing elements of free jazz\, funk\, rock\, and more the band navigates deep waters and celestial planes while keeping a pulsing undercurrent of steady groove. The musicians set up a delicate interplay which leads to surprising and spontaneous moments which make each show unique. Keep an eye out and your ears open and you might get pulled into their orbit.” \nQuantum Moon

SUMMARY:Sinnet "Strange Currencies" Release w/Jon Nolan & Good Co and Jake McKelvie
DESCRIPTION:Sinnet celebrates their release of "Strange Currencies" with Jon Nolan & Good Co and Jake McKelvie Sept 4th!\n\n\n$15 adv/$20 door \nDoors 7 \nCelebrating the release of “Strange Currencies” Sinnet’s take on the REM classic featuring Julie Rhodes! \nBuilt around songwriter Aaron Spransy\, Sinnet is a Boston-based band blending indie rock and soul into human-scale songs—sweet melodies\, a little grit at the edges\, and arrangements that feel like old friends showing up right on time. Named after his late mother’s tennis-themed license plate\, Sinnet is as personal as it is tuneful. Sinnet’ssound draws inspiration from artists like Paul Simon\, Spoon\, Nathaniel Rateliff\, Richard Swift and Booker T & The MGs. \nThe band has released several albums and has toured across the East Coast and Midwest. Along the way\, they’ve collaborated with members of Guster\, Karate\, The Promise Ring\, Pansy Division\, Rebuilder\, Julie Rhodes and The Macrotones. \nThe band has a soul-influenced LP in the works with Brian Charles at Rare Signals in Cambridge\, MA. \nhttp://linktr.ee/sinnetsongs \n\n\n\nJon Nolan is an internationally touring musician and producer from the mill town of Newmarket\, NH\, currently on tour in support of his third album\, Slow Cooker (Strolling Bones / New West). “Slow Cooker” landed on both WBUR Boston and NPR’s All Songs Considered “Best of” Fall lists. Still fronting New England alt-country stalwarts Say ZuZu (also on Strolling Bones / New West)\, Nolan’s work with his backing band Good Co. explores the dreamier\, pop-infused edges of his Americana sensibility. \n“Nolan is a storyteller with an uncanny talent for capturing the voices and plights of everyday folks.”— Nick Graziano / Manchester Ink Link \nhttps://jonnolan.net/home \n\n\n\nJake McKelvie has traveled the DIY touring circuit in the US and UK for over a decade\, carving out a niche for himself as a songwriter and performer. Known for his off-kilter “stream of self-consciousness” lyricism\, he sings his songs either as a solo performer or with his newly minted backing band\, “the New Old Band”. \nHe released his latest LP “A New Kind of Hat” in 2024 and has been touring in support of it since. \nhttps://jakemckelvie.com/

SUMMARY:Marley Hale\, Grace Givertz and Tiberius Duo
DESCRIPTION:Marley Hale\, Grace Givertz and Tiberius live at the Lizard Lounge Sept 10th!\n\n\n$15 adv/$20 doors \nDoors 7 \nWith a beguiling voice that would feel right at home on classic country radio\, Marley Hale delivers a captivating country/folk sound rooted in the refined yet adventurous musicality she’s cultivated almost her entire life. As revealed on her debut EP\, By My Own Ways\, to be released July 26\, 2024\, the Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter matches her timeless sensibilities and graceful musicianship with a one-of-a-kind narrative voice\, endlessly merging raw truth with mesmerizing storytelling.  \nBorn in Austin but raised in Northern California\, Hale first learned to play guitar from her father at age 10 and soon began writing songs of her own. Although she grew up listening to classic-rock bands like Led Zeppelin and pop visionaries like Kate Bush and David Bowie\, she later became fascinated with folk luminaries such as Karen Dalton and Bob Dylan and eventually discovered the artists she now lists among her essential touchstones\, including Loretta Lynn and Gillian Welch.  \nCo-produced by Hale and Dylan McKinstry at Greenpoint Recording Collective\, By My Own Ways presents a collection of lived-in stories capturing moments of danger and desperation and all-consuming longing\, setting each track to a sound that’s rich in finespun detail. By My Own Ways encompasses everything from smoldering country-rock to piano-laced honky-tonk—ultimately lending a strangely enthralling power to Hale’s intimate meditations on self-loathing and self-acceptance. \nMarley Hale \n\n\nHailing from the sunshine state of Florida\, Boston based artist Grace Givertz captivates audiences with her indie folk compositions\, blending earworm melodies with heartfelt storytelling. As a multi-instrumentalist\, she infuses her music with a diverse array of sounds\, weaving folk\, Americana\, and indie rock into a tapestry uniquely her own.   \nDrawing inspiration from her personal journey living with chronic illness\, Givertz’s music resonates with raw emotion and introspection. Her experiences infuse her songs with depth and authenticity\, inviting listeners to explore themes of resilience and vulnerability.   \nHer sophomore release\, Midnight Feature out March 13th 2026\, exclusively features BIPOC\, LGBTQ+\, and/or disabled musicians. This collaborative effort not only amplifies underrepresented voices but also underscores her commitment to inclusivity and diversity within the music industry. Following her 2019 debut\, Year of the Horse\, Givertz continues to showcase her ability to turn lemons into lemonade through song. “…The only real option is to smile at how much she packs into a tiny punch of a song\,” Nina Corcoran writes in digboston.   \nShe has also been heavily involved as a member of the Black Opry\, an organization dedicated to highlighting and supporting Black musicians in the country music industry. In 2023\, this lead to her participating in  WXPN’s Black Opry Residency Philadelphia. She has opened for favorites including Lucy Dacus\, Cassadee Pope\, Ezra Furman\, John Paul White (The Civil Wars)\, Neyla Pekarek (The Lumineers)\, and more. \nGivertz’s talent shines bright\, earning her acclaim for her captivating performances. She has been nominated for two Boston Music Awards\, as well as receiving the City of Boston’s Extraordinary Women Award in 2023 and Allston Village Main Street’s Artist of the Year in 2025 for her contributions to music and community. Beyond accolades\, she shares her expertise through songwriting workshops\, including sessions with the Harvard Ed Portal\, empowering others to authentically express themselves.   \nGrace Givertz’s melodies resonate as beacons of authenticity\, illuminating the indie folk landscape and reminding us of the enduring power of storytelling through song. \nGrace Givertz \n\n\nBoston-based\, non-binary-led group Tiberius have just issued ‘Troubadour\,’ their label debut album\, via Audio Antihero (Frog / Avery Friedman / CIAO MALZ / Magana / Josaleigh Pollett).Originally a solo project of Rutland\, Vermont’s Brendan Wright (they/them)\, Tiberius has evolved into a catchy and cacophonous four-piece that blends Indie Punk\, Alt Country and Psychedelia with confessional\, conversational songwriting to create a sound they’ve jokingly dubbed “Farm Emo.”This sonically layered and eclectic collection offers intensity and heart as well as a warm and rustic flair. Leading singles “Sag” and “Felt” wouldn’t be out of place on a Deep Elm compilation\, while songs like “Moab\,” “It Has to Be True\,” and “Sitting” veer into folksy Alt Country. \nThe sprawling “Redwood” and “Painting of a Tree” are other highlights of the record\, ones which see Wright dig into what they call their “meathead influences\,” with arrangements that expand and implode. \n“For most of my life\, I defined myself almost completely on who I was in relation to others – my friends\, my family\, and my relationships. Troubadour was written in a short period of time where these relationships changed significantly\, and it felt as if I underwent complete ego death. For months\, I felt insane but inevitably found solace in nature and the constant of the trees. For a period\, I felt utterly connected to the universe in a way that was completely outside my sense of self. I was everything all at once\, and it was one of the most profound experiences I’ve ever had. And it was hard. And I think I was lucky enough to capture it in these 10 tracks.” – Brendan Wright \nTiberius

SUMMARY:Old Tom & The Lookouts/Billy Dodge Moody
DESCRIPTION:Old Tom & The Lookouts live at the Lizard Lounge with Billy Dodge Moody September 11th at 8 oclock!\n\n\nLed by Alex Calabrese\, Worcester-based folk project\, Old Tom & The Lookouts blend the introspective grit of Americana with the emotional rawness of Indie-Rock. Known for their brooding lyrics and powerful storytelling\, the band explores themes of mental health\, love\, and resilience. Drawing influences from artists like Counting Crows\, Pinegrove\, and The Band\, Calabrese’s evocative vocals and poignant songwriting strike a chord with listeners searching for authenticity and emotional depth. \n“Old Tom & The Lookouts doesn’t sugarcoat the realities of life in the Northeast. But they presented it. Scars and everything. Set against the backdrop of a tragic but hopeful American melody.” – EARMILK \nOld Tom & The Lookouts \n\n\nLife moves in seasons. Between birth and death\, we experience joy\, pain\, loss\, triumph\, and everything else in between. The human condition hinges upon such instances of constant change. Boston singer and songwriter Billy Dodge Moody ponders this ebb and flow on his third full-length and debut album for Pasadena Records\, Condition. Over a patchwork of Americana\, soul\, and rock\, he explores family dynamics\, depression\, marriage\, and saying goodbye to friends and loved ones gone too soon with unfiltered candor. \nGrowing up on the outskirts of Boston\, Billy picked up a guitar as a kid and never put it down. Inspired by everyone from Nirvana\, Led Zeppelin\, and Bob Dylan to Dave Matthews Band\, Cat Stevens\, and James Taylor\, he absorbed a myriad of influences. In high school\, he notably took guitar lessons from Chad Stokes of Dispatch and State Radio in between the occasional pickup hockey game together. Between attending Villanova University\, he cut his teeth on the Boston music circuit. After a year-and-a-half on Capitol Hill as a press assistant\, he relocated to New York\, performing regularly around Manhattan. He unveiled his independent full-length debut\, Dawn Breaks over Mystic\, in 2014 followed by 2018’s Wildwood. Along the way\, he attracted a growing fan base and earned ink from Boston Globe\, Boston Magazine\, and more. In 2021\, he entered Zippah Recording in Brighton\, MA to record Condition with producer and engineer Brian Charles. This time around\, he tapped into the folk eloquence of Laurel Canyon with rustic Americana spirit. \nBilly Dodge Moody

SUMMARY:Ask Carol
DESCRIPTION:Join us Sept 12th for Norwegian Indie rockers Ask Carol live at the Lizard Lounge!\n\n\n$20/$25 door \nDoors 7 \nAsk Carol is an alternative indie-rock duo that has emerged from the remote Norwegian mountain community of Auma\, ready to shake up the music scene. Don’t let the small size of this band fool you – with two guitars\, drums\, synth\, Carol’s unique bass and guitar system\, and a bit of multitasking\, Ask Carol packs a punch with a sound as big as a full band. The music of this high-energy power-duo ranges from fierce and mean to soft and comforting\, drawing inspiration from the likes of the Kills\, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs\, and the White Stripes\, all with a distinct Nordic\, melancholic twist. \nAsk Carol has already made a name for themselves on the international stage\, touring in the USA\, UK\, Germany\, Italy\, Philippines\, Japan\, South Korea\, and Scandinavia\, and performing at SXSW several times (2024\, 2023\, 2018). They’ve also had the privilege of supporting The Brian Jonestown Massacre on tour. In August 2022\, they released their highly-anticipated debut album through their own indie label\, ChoVan Records\, to widespread acclaim from the press\, including a 5/6 rating in Dagbladet\, one of Norway’s largest newspapers. Their sophomore album\, AC II: Desert Sky\, followed\, with an exclusive Vinyl release in February 2026. \nWhen the pandemic hit and live shows were put on hold\, Ask Carol took the opportunity to regroup and reinvent themselves. They used the downtime to create self-produced music videos\, merch and live recordings\, and emerge from the pandemic with their debut album in hand\, ready to take on the world. The three years since the world opened up they have toured non-stop. Despite being isolated in their mountain town\, with only a few neighbors and a herd of cows as an audience\, Ask Carol used their solitude to craft a dark\, introspective atmosphere that permeates their music and is sure to captivate listeners. Don’t miss the chance to experience the unique and powerful sound of Ask Carol live in 2026. \nAsk Carol

SUMMARY:Mike Verge Album Release with special guest Daydream
DESCRIPTION:Mike Verge celebrates the release of his latest album "Human Era" Sept 19th with special guests Daydream!\n\n\n$15 adv/$20 door \nDoors 7 \n \nMike Verge is a singer\, songwriter\, and guitar player whose music has been compared to acts such as Tom Petty\, John Mayer\, the Black Crowes and the Jayhawks. This Berklee College of Music graduate and Boston native has played gigs from Portland\, Maine to the Caribbean\, from coffee shops to arenas.Mike and his band was handpicked by Hootie & the Blowfish front man Darius Rucker to open for the Blowfish’s sold-out New England appearances. Mike’s songwriting style has attracted the attention of The Band drummer Levon Helm\, who offered him an opening slot on the Boston leg of his recent tour. Verge has also opened for several other big-name acts\, including Dave Davies (The Kinks)\, Livingston Taylor\, Buck Cherry and Cheap Trick. \n \nMike Verge \n\n\nDaydream is a Roots Jam Band that blends Americana\, soulful songwriting\, and hard-driving Rock n’ Roll with the free improvisation of Jam pioneers like the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers. Since 2023\, Daydream has been honing a sound that harkens back to these formative influences\, while carving a new path wholly its own. \nAfter a long period in the Boston and New England jam scene playing covers with various groups\, bandleader David Rubin started Daydream as an outlet for his own original music. David has won over audiences with his prowess and by playing with the some of most recognizable acts in the scene\, including his own band Diamond Blues\, at residencies\, tour dates\, and festivals in the Boston area. He’s played with Members of Hot Tuna\, Ryan Montbleau\, New Riders of the Purple Sage\, Dark Star Orchestra\, Guerilla Toss\, Marble Eyes\, Swimmer\, Brown-Eyed Women\, and Bearly Dead. \nThe band\, along with David Rubin on guitar/vocals\, is rounded out by on-the-rise powerhouses Liam Oulton on bass\, Douglas Appleman on keyboards\, and Robbie Parrish on drums/vocals. \nDaydream

SUMMARY:Ali McGuirk
DESCRIPTION:Soulful influenced singer songwriter Ali McGuirk returns to the Lizard Lounge Sept 25th!\n\n\n$20 GA adv/$27 door \n$60 Reserved Table For 2 \n \nBlending classic soul power with a folk songwriter lyricism\, New England’s Ali McGuirk has the rare ability to silence a room with just a few words of a song. With a voice that is raw and sultry and a style rooted in improvisation\, her sets are a hypnotic and intimate journey. \nOn her Signature Sounds Recordings debut ’Til It’s Gone\, McGuirk delivers a sublime set of songs that pairs her trademark soul sound with rootsy turns and raw rock ‘n’ roll detours. The album landed on the Boston Globe’s Top 50 Albums list for 2022. Consequence of Sound raved\, “‘All Back’ feels like it could exist somewhere outside of space and time– it could be on a record in the background of a party in a 1970s bungalow\, or it could be on your Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify. Either way\, it’s a great listen.” \nMcGuirk co-produced ‘Til It’s Gone with Jonah Tolchin (a star singer-songwriter in his own right) and a set of session legends: Little Feat guitarist/mandolinist Fred Tackett\, organist Larry Goldings (James Taylor\, Norah Jones)\, singer Valerie Pinkston (Ray Charles\, Luther Vandross)\, percussionist Lenny Castro (Stevie Nicks\, Stevie Wonder). They provided the astounding chops\, but the true magic of the album comes from McGuirk’s singular voice as both singer and songwriter. The nine tracks run from intimate introspection to wider meditations on oppression and justice\, from tough r&b and tender soul to big rock guitar and twangy folk. And McGuirk’s voice – bold\, buttery\, spellbinding – carries each song to the next til they’re gone. \nAli McGuirk

SUMMARY:Otis Grove
DESCRIPTION:Otis Grove bring the Runk back to Lizard Lounge Sept 26th.\n\n\n$20 adv/$25 door \nDoors at 8 \nThere’s a new sound taking over the town known as Boston. If you’re by the banks of the Charles River as the moon glows over the muddy waters you very well may hear some thick\, groovy beats banging out a trail for raw guitar licks and a soul-drenched Hammond organ. Yes indeed\, ladies and gentleman who are down with the funk\, it’s time to get rocked by your new favorite band: Otis Grove. \n \nOtis Grove began as a collective experiment in crossing the traditional organ jazz sound with funk\, hip-hop\, and rock tones. It was the beginning of a sonic realization based in groove and free in improvisation\, yet rooted in songwriting and melodic structure. In early 2004\, on the heels of their self-titled debut album\, the band began spreading their sound to clubs around the New England area. The music\, which has since evolved into a unique blend of aggressive rock n’ roll and high-intensity organ funk (some fans have dubbed their genre ‘Runk’- a mixture of rock and funk)\, pays tribute to the masters while consistently pushing itself in new directions. Performer Magazine writer Sam Merrick described it as “a monstrous funk groove that probably would have sent Godzilla running had he been in the neighborhood.” \n \nWhile an organ-based power trio at it’s core\, Otis Grove likes to keep it spicy by frequently collaborating with other musicians. Special guests who have joined the band for performances and recordings include Oteil Burbridge\, Mr. Lif\, Melvin Sparks\, Akrobatik\, Ryan Montbleau\, Jesse Dee\, The Akashic Horns\, Garrett Sayers\, Tim Palmieri\, Amy Bellamy\, Aaron Bellamy\, Bill Carbone\, Beau Sasser\, Johnny Trama\, Danny Mayer…… and many many more. \nOtis Grove \n\n\nLizard Lounge Is 21+

SUMMARY:Jen Kearney/HELLBENDER
DESCRIPTION:Jen Kearney and HELLBENDER live at the Lizard Lounge October 10th at 8 oclock\n\n\nMUST BE 21+ \n$20/$25 door \n7 Doors \n\n\nOriginally from Boston\, Massachusetts\, Jen Kearney has spent some time seasoning her particular style of original music. Her sound is truly an amalgamation of musical styles including Soul\, R&B\, Funk\, Rock\, and Latin. Kearney’s music and attention to lyrics and has met critical acclaim nationally and internationally. \nKearney will be celebrating the release of a full-length album called “Gas Station Poet”coming up on October 17th. She has recorded and released six studio albums and an EP. She has done session work on many other projects. Kearney is a 2 time New England Music Award nominee for soul/r&b act of the year. \nKearney tours both as a solo act and with a full band. She spent 2018-2020 living in London touring the UK/ Europe with her own act and with a 9-piece Latin band called Snowboy & the Latin Section. She has shared the stage with the likes of Maceo Parker\, Los Lobos\, Daryl Hall\, Mavis Staples\, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers\, The Derek Trucks Band and more. \n“Jen Kearney is a gifted singer who can belt out a song with the best of them. She puts a refreshing new spin on funk music with thoughtfully conceived lyrics… simply mesmerizing.” -Steve Morse (Billboard/Rolling Stone) \n“Jen Kearney is a singer-songwriter from Boston\, Massachusetts that represents the very best of what that job description signifies. She’s got a vocal style that’s full-bodied and steeped in character. And her storytelling chops and facile lyrics are off the charts.”- Eric Harabadian (Downbeat/Geoff Wilbur’s Music Blog) \nJen Kearney \n\n\nHELLBENDER bends jazz until it snaps. Built on the raw electricity of classic fusion records like Bitches Brew\, the band channels that brand of chaos through a sharper\, more intentional compositional lens. Ambient sounds are juxtaposed with tough drum beats and a ton of mixed meters. There isn’t endless soloing for its own sake—the band has a collective sound that resonates. \nThe players are conservatory-trained musicians who grew up on classic rock riffs as much as real books. The intention is to bring precision in the music without losing the danger. Amplified jazz\, electric saxophone with guitar pedals\, aggressive grooves\, and tightly forged forms collide\, blurring the line between headbanging and deep listening. Hellbender isn’t resurrecting fusion—they are weaponizing it. \nJared Sims- electric sax/pedals\, Andrew Stern -guitar\, James Rohr-keys\, \, Rick Mcglaughlin-bass\, Randy Wooten-drums \n \nJared Sims

Created in the wake of losing his sister\, singer-songwriter Kate Lorenz\, it’s a tender\, beautiful\, and arrestingly moving record; an internal dialogue and conversation with the departed\, enormously resonant to anyone who ever loved anyone. \nSuitcase Junket

SUMMARY:Kimaya Diggs "Green" Album Release with Grace Givertz
DESCRIPTION:Kimaya Diggs celebrates the release of her latest album "Green" October 17th with Grace Givertz!\n\n\nDoors 7 \n \nRecently off tour dates with Mavis Staples\, Emily King\, Trombone Shorty\, and more\, musician Kimaya Diggs navigates her world with stories. Her songwriting serves as both a portal and a roadmap toward a future self; a not-yet-envisioned world and way of being. Her new album\, Green (out October 2)\, is an extended love missive to the New England landscape\, asking questions of belonging and goodness. Green showcases twelve tracks of glittering\, genre-bending indie pop\, carried by Diggs’ powerful\, honeyed vocals\, and honest\, attentive lyricism.  \n \nHer songwriting has earned her many accolades\, including a New England Music Awards nod\, gigs at legendary folk haunts like Club Passim\, and appearances at Green River Festival\, Rubblebucket’s Dream Picnic\, and the Emily Dickinson Poetry Festival. festival.  \n \nOn Green\, it’s clear Diggs has been forced to harden herself against the heartbreak that comes along with loving and being loved\, but it would be foolish to mistake her hard-won grit for surliness aimed toward the world. It’s this very grit that shapes her love into something more capacious and ever-expanding. Her softness is in turn reserved for herself\, the ones closest to her\, and the earth. It’s this faithful preservation that serves as Green’s trustworthy tether.  \n \nKimaya Diggs \n\n\n\nHailing from the sunshine state of Florida\, Boston based artist Grace Givertz captivates audiences with her indie folk compositions\, blending earworm melodies with heartfelt storytelling. \n \nGrace Givertz
